Hi everybody,

the current issue went to the post on Friday evening (for readers in
Germany) and this morning to all the other readers (mailed from here
in Austria). Let's see how fast it reaches you this time.

This time we added even more extra pages (you know, 32 pages were
planned when the pricing was done), but you can expect a massive 44
pages issue with very, very interesting articles :-))

Cheers Jochen

Hi John,

glad to read it has arrived. Considering the fact that I sent
the magazine several times from Austria in the past few years and it
usually arrived within 6 or 10 days, I guess the Xmas delay was an
exception due to Xmas, and it variied depending on the destination.

Enjoy the read!

Cheers Jochen

How odd.

I have received neither Jochen's message sent on 15/03/2010 nor, as yet, the
current issue of QL Today.

I wonder how many other emails to the group have missed me. Is anyone else in
the same position?

I have the reverse 'problem' as I often receive two copies. Malcom

This could well be true. After all GG could easily be mistyped as TF. At least
according to my keyboard layout.

I now report, however, that my copy of QL Today has just arrived.

Furthermore, for once I read all the way through Jochen's ad which, for reasons
given inside the magazine's cover, was printed on the reverse of the address
sheet which I normally use as scrap paper.

It has a spare single bed at about E60 per night incl breakfast.

Hi,

Not something that I consciously have any control over ... however, I
always receive 2 copies, of all the emails, from the list myself, too;
at two different addresses . :-)

Re: [Ql-Users] QL Today Volume 14 Issue 3 is on its way to all the readers

2010-03-22 Thread SMSQ - Jochen Merz
As Herb Schaaf was looking for 'true' randomness on page 6, may I
suggest that QL Today delivery date be used as the basis for 'true'
randomness? Or rather, the randomness of the various postal services
involved?

Well, we can see a bundle of arrivals today ... not too random, it seems.

Otherwise, Jochen or Geoff (will the guilty one please stand up!) might
have unintentionally started another 'random' generator with the
spelling of my name - a quick glance through the mag (cover, contents
list, news and page 17 article) reveals 3 different spellings so far -
who can work out the correct spelling (clue: my signature below...)?

;-))

Oh dear! Well, there's me laying it out, Bruce and Geoff doing the
proof-reading. I guess we're all guilty then.

(Actually, not a bad issue at all!)

I thought so too when I brought it to the printer :-)

[Ql-Users] lucky moment, or *phew*

2010-03-22 Thread Michael Grunditz
Hi

I was pretty scared today when I found out that the backup of my WIN1
qxl.win file was on a broken cd.

But I solved it:

Mounted WIN1 as a new file and WIN2 as the old one directly from the CD in QPC2.
Formated the WIN1 file.

 ex win2_apps_sh
 cd win2_
 cp -r * win1_

In fact that was also how I copied the files from my old Q40 in the
first place (over sernet).

I also fixed up my Spectrum 48K yesterday , and did the composite
video mod on it , works great :)

Just wanted to share the fun :)

Hi Dilwin ... :-)

A holy, noble and bright man, of course.

With the QL, I think the win_ drive name came from winchester, which
was a manufacturers name for hard drives ( not the rifles maker ? ).

Anyway it is a winner on the QL system ... as are you ... :-) ... keep
up the all the good work that you do.
