I'm curious as to if you did a "yum update" after doing the OS install.
It's been my experience that it is required before installing toaster.

Sounds like you may be missing either a repo or the fedora project
goofed on a package release.

[qmailtoaster] ***SPAM*** Centos 4.0 server set at 509 concurrency remote not really sending that many

2007-02-12 Thread alpha

Hello,

I've been trying to get my mail server to do more than 1 million emails
per day. I've set remoteconcurrency to 509 and would like to make
it 2045 if at all possible.

Server is dual pentium 4's 2 gigs of ram with 2 gigs for swap and
80gig sataII drive Running Qmail toaster.
I was told I have enough bandwidth for this so that's not an issue.

I've written a custom perl script to send the mail. And I'm not sure
if I should use perl sendmail commands or qmail-inject.

But here is my problem. When I load up the queue, it just dies. I have
to do a qmailctl doqueue to keep the queue running. And then qmailctl
doqueue a few more times to get the concurrency up to 509.

I really don't think the concurrency is working. I've checked netstat
and when I run qmhandle -s to see stats, I only see maybe 8-10 messages
leaving the server at 1 time. Shouldn't it be sending 509 messages from the
queue at each instance?

Well thanks for anyones insight on this issue. I really need to find a
receipe for a bulk mailer machine.

[qmailtoaster] SLOW SMTP SESSION

2007-02-12 Thread 24x7server
hi

we have two different type of installations of qmail toaster on two different
machines

m/c 1
redhat enterprise 3
qmailtoaster without using db for vpopmail

m/c 2
fedora 4
qmailtoaster using mysql mysql 5 db for vpopmail

both m/c are enabled in the same way with smtp authentication and checks for
virus / spam before sending emails by domains hosted on the servers

we find that in m/c 2
while using outlook express there are three stages
1) connecting
2) authorizing
3) sending message -- slow

the speed of smtp sessions for the first two stages are similar in both
machines but in the third stage the m/c 2 takes around 7 seconds where as the
m/c 1 sends the message instantly.

this delay gets troublesome for clients who use mail exchangers for a large no
of email ids.

any idea what the reason could be ?

Guten Tag, bonjour, saudações, hola, ahoj, welkom and of course hello.

Ladies and gentlemen, the CentOS mailing lists are going international!
Yes, now you can talk about your favourite linux distribution in your
favourite language. If - and that is a big if - you are able to talk in

 - german
 - french
 - czech
 - dutch
 - the brasilian variant of portuguese
 - spanish

Which should be about, ermm, many people - and maybe *you* are one of them.

Let me introduce your hosts for the rest of your lifes:

There is Rodrigo Barbosa, who is running the CentOS-pt-br mailing list,
because he is one of the people who are speaking this language. If that
doesn't make him a good moderator, what else will?

Then there is Tru Huynh of CentOS fame who still has time on his hands
to run CentOS-fr.

Daniel DeKok, resident spell checker (I haven't found an error on the
wiki he didn't spot first) is running CentOS-nl.

David Hrbáč has offered to run CentOS-cz, hoping that he'll still have
some free time after you storm the list.

Roger Peña Escobio and Ernesto Pérez Estévez wanted to do us a big
favour with running the CentOS-es list, answering the multitude of
requests for a spanish CentOS support venue.

And Christoph Maser and me are going to run CentOS-de, just so there is
a german mailing list also.

So give them all a big hand for offering their help!

You can find out about and subscribe to the lists at:

.
.
.
.
.
.

And now go and discuss! Ask questions if you have one! Answer questions
if you know the answer!

Hope to see you here and there,

Ralph

I want to ensure that this is tracked and becomes the new default, so

[qmailtoaster] About DomainKey again and giving spammers a lesson

2007-02-12 Thread fajarpri
Hello,
I've heard about this new feature for quite sometimes, but I haven't
implemented it just yet. Until for the last few days I have been testing
DomainKeys implementation in a lab, and it seems very capable of rejecting
unsolicited mails.

Thank you everyone for these resources:
http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/Domainkeys
http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/SPF
http://www.bind9.net/manual/bind/9.3.2/Bv9ARM.ch06.html#id2564557

However I still have some things to clear up:
1. How many mailserver out there that have implement this DK signature?
2. Will it safe to use the QT option of DKVERIFY="DEfGhIJK"? Wouldn't it
reject many "legitimate" mails who haven't implemented DK signature?
3. So, if I decide to temporarily turn off DK verification, is the option
would be: "EfGhIJK"?
4. What options can we use to "give a lesson" to spammer regarding DK? I'm
thinking of giving the "soft reject" so that their mailservers will be
overwhelmed with mails queue.

Thank you very much for any help. QT is getting awesome everyday :)

[qmailtoaster] ping

2007-02-12 Thread Erik A. Espinoza

Testing. Noticed no qmailtoaster e-mail at all and wondering if either
people aren't having issues or if the list is having issues.

A bit more information would be helpful.

What were you doing (trying to install) when you get this error?

# rpm -qa | grep selinux

Re: [qmailtoaster] DKIM Status failed

2007-02-12 Thread Eric \"Shubes\"
I thought Vince did a pretty good job of explaining this, but it apparently
hasn't sunk in. I'll try once more to explain it.

There's no point (purpose) in changing the name of your key. Just because
its *name* is 'private' doesn't mean that it *is* a private key. Quite the
opposite, in fact. The contents of the DNS TXT record that s= points to
should contain the *public* key, regardless of the s= value.

The s= parameter is the Selector value. This is simply a name (identifier)
given to the key pair so that the receiving server can tell which DNS record
contains the appropriate *public* key for your domain. You can call it
whatever you like, such as 'selid' or 'maildk' or 'orange' or 'narf' or
'poit'. It really doesn't matter from a functional standpoint.

The name you give it is specified when you generate the key pair. See
http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/Domainkeys#DomainKey_Generation
The only reason that 'private' is used as a selector id in the example is
that this is the default value used by qmail-dk.

This is admittedly confusing, and a poor choice of names by the qmail-dk
author. The default should probably be changed in the stock toaster (and the
wiki) at some point so that it is more easily understood. Alexey, can we
change the qmail-dk default file name to something a little more
appropriate, such as 'selector' or 'keyname'?
