Hi Guys;

I've been misunderstood. Eric says I'm curious to know if there's a way to do
this with postfix . I have to think about what you want to learn how to write.
If there is not anything to compare with postix. In the meantime, my car is
damaged lights, car lights change to change is not it make more sense :) . I
read the source code a bit. I'm working on a patch.I will be sharing the
results.

I believe that this is what I described as being practical (without knowing of
this capability in postfix). It's not suitable for QMT largely because it would
involve a fairly major change to vpopmail and qmail, which is something we
simply don't have resources to do. Perhaps suitable wasn't the best term to
use.

That being said, I think we should add this to the reasons for switching to
postfix at some point in the future for use as a submission server, if not all
roles which use smtp (also mx and sending, which use smtp).

Another reason for using postfix is that it can be configured to throttle
outbound messages. This is something that could be patched into qmail-remote
(as we've discussed and I've even written a spec for), but at this point I feel
that whatever time is spent doing this might be better spent converting to
postfix.

Anyone care to share their thoughts about this?

Thanks.

If we switch everything over to postfix, shouldn't we rename the project
postfix-toaster?

grin

Hasan:

I have brought this up before, and there are certain situations where you NEED
for a single auth'd user to be able to send mail as anyone. Specifically,
when you're using QMT as a filter or smart-host.

So the short answer to your query is that it cannot be done. Once you are
authenticated to the qmail-smtp program, it will take any email from you --
including email that is spoofed...

PS: I am with you if you believe there should be a way to configure that -- but
that is not an option that I am aware of currently.

But if this smtp relay server get down all emails get stuck in queue.

Can I define 1 more smtproute entry so if first server is down then it will

 Regards,

I would configure your squirrelmail to authenticate in
/etc/squirrelmail/config_local.php:

  # these are added so SM authenticates,
  # eliminating need for 127.: line in /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp file
  $smtpServerAddress  = 'localhost';
  $smtpPort   = 587;
  $smtp_auth_mech = 'login';

and restart httpd:
# service httpd restart

Then remove the 127. line from /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.smtp file, and rebuild
the cdb file:
# qmailctl cdb

This will keep any rogue process on your host from using QMT as an open
relay. See if this fixes things, and we can go from there.

Hi ,

I think i had done a terrible mistake by migrating old qmail server to new
one. This might be because of my lack of knowledge about qmail server.

here is what i have done

1 i installed new qmail server with new packages downloaded from
qmailtoaster.com http://qmailtoaster.com

2 Created same virtual domain and create all users on the new server

3. Copied all users mailboxes from old server to new server

i think the bad move was next

I synchronized all squirrel mail plugins and config files . Forgot to check
the compatibility with new squirrel mail version.

Now the problem i'm facing is with some users are getting blank page upon

Close but no cigar. ;)

Some packages default to i386, and others to x86_64 when the arch parameter
is incorrect (as is the case at this point with COS6).

I put a complete set of COS6-capable rpms in the testing/SRPMS tree of the
repo yesterday. They're all 1.5.0 versions.

For the packages you're trying to upgrade, please manually download them
into your /usr/src/qtp-upgrade/SRPMS/ directory, then edit the
current-newmodel.txt file (same location) to reflect the 1.5.0 versions.

Then rerun qtp-newmodel, electing to use your selections, and also choose to
use a fresh sandbox.

Might just work. ;) Please let us know.

Thanks Amit!

2013-04-02 Thread Amit
Hi Chandran,

1) Post the content of your tcp.smtp file.

2) To see username and password, you can use below url:

http://yourservername/admin-toaster vqadmin show users enter your
domain name

3) Now regarding 2 location setup, I would have done it in any of 2
ways:

a) I would have setup replica of server on location 2 and then
scheduling rsync for domain folder at every 15 min.

b) Would have use alias of all users to another location and the
fetchmail alias email id at altername location.

Sorry couldn't get back to you as it was last of Financial Year in India.

Ok now some more inputs:

1) This is incoming mail.
2) Gray listing disabled on my server.
3) Domain is skipped for anti-virus and anti-spam check in Simcontrol.
4) Log is coming from webmail.ikf.co.in MX. I use Google as a backup MX.

As far as I'm understanding, remote server is trying to send completion of mail
transfer request before complete mail is getting delivered at my end.

Any other detail required from my side, do let me know.

Looks like the remote server is starting the smtp connection out of order:

503_MAIL_first

Maybe it starts with a rcpt to for some reason. Seeing its a Microsoft node:

* Outlook client without authentication?
* Is it always the same server failing?
* only one sender affected by this?

Rather strange indeed - maybe something trivial as packet loss?

Cheers,

You can try again, but I don't think that's it. DENIED_OTHER is a rejection
outside the scope of spamdyke, which is what does graylisting. If it were
graylisting, you'd see DENIED_GRAYLISTED in the log.

Do you have REQUIRE_AUTH=1 set anywhere (tcp.smtp or run file)?

Please turn on spamdyke's detail logging and capture one of these so we can

The BlackBerry smartphone might receive email messages up to 15 minutes
after the messages arrive on the source mailbox. This is by design. The
BlackBerry Infrastructure checks for new email messages every 15 minutes. If
a new email message is received, it is sent to the BlackBerry and the
BlackBerry Infrastructure will check for new email again in 3 minutes. If no
email is found, the BlackBerry Infrastructure will wait 15 minutes to check
again.

check box. Path to go over there is mentioned below:

1) Ask him to go on his email account properties.
2) Click on More settings button.
3) Click on Outgoing Server tab.
4) There you will find check box for My server requires authentication.
Just click on it.
5) Now go to Advanced tab.
6) Ask him to change SMTP port from 25 to 587. (Reason for doing the
same is because if his IP is blacklisted then sometimes QMT won't allow to
send mail from 25 port.)

Hi Amit,
That seems to be the exact issue here.
All other features work correctly. This has only started since the client
was required to use Outlook for an application they use.

I'm using the latest version of Dovecot install using QTP Server. From
yesterday no hanging issues observed but still monitoring the same for next few

Yes I had got confused regarding caching of RAM, but now it is clear.

Thanks. Will update back if found with some issues.

I might add that Outlook'03 does not support TLS. If you want to use SSL with

FWIW, I hope to get port 465 support included in QMT soon. Note, it will be

2012-09-06 Thread Amit
Hi Everyone,

Last month I upgraded my server hardware and migrated QMT from old server to
new server, but after up-gradation I started facing problem in Outlook. My
users Outlook automatically goes into offline mode. All 100 users are on
IMAP. Differences of Old and new scenario mentioned below:

OLD Server

Hardware: Intel Core2Quad, 2 GB RAM, 250 GB HDD * 1 No

Software: CentOS 5.4 32 bit, QMT 32 bit and Dovecot 32 bit

NEW Server

Hardware: Intel Xeon E5620 processor, 8 GB RAM, 2 TB * 2 No HDD (RAID 1)

Software: CentOS 5.8 64 bit, QMT 64 bit and Dovecot 64 bit

I also noticed on new server that RAM utilization going very high. Attaching
screen shot of the same below:

Kindly let me know if any further details required.

 Hi Amit,

At first glance your memory usage seems OK. You have approx 6GB of ram as
 cached.

Is your new server set to sync time with an ntp server? Dovecot is very
 sensitive to drift in clocks.

 not so important
it's to show the correct version of ClamAV in message headers if you
want to, take a look here qmail.jms1.net/simscan/#update-simscan

 xaf

 -

I noticed this too, after distributing the rpm. I checked simscan's
reporting, and it's showing the correct version. So you can ignore this
message.

IIRC, the update of simscan is now being handled in a more traditional way
(as a trigger), so this script is now obsolete. I'll take a closer look and
clean this up with the next release.

I just managed to install QMT through your script on CentOS 6. Few things to
know:

1) I had installed 3 days back and today there was a ClamAV release. How do
I update the same?
2) SMTP over submission port is not working? Getting below error:

[root@mail ~]# telnet localhost 587
Trying ::1...
telnet: connect to address ::1: Connection refused
Trying 127.0.0.1...

3) @Eric, Any chance or update for qmailtoaster-plus for CentOS 6 as
qtp-menu and other scripts are not working.
4) Qcontrol got installed but again it is not working.

Fair question. The short answer is that this script evolved as I
tackled each install issue in turn, and being partly pieced from
other install procedures and partly from my own code, what worked
was simply left alone and kept intact. I believe that particular
code that pulls those perl modules using YUM was part of one of the
original CentOS 5 install scripts where I borrowed part of the code

RE: [qmailtoaster] Re: Installing on CentOS 6.x

2012-07-23 Thread Amit
The new clamav should build on COS6 with no modifications now. You'll need
to do it 'manually' for the time being though.

Ok'll try that.

 2) SMTP over submission port is not working? Getting below error:

 [root@mail ~]# telnet localhost 587
 Trying ::1...
telnet: connect to address ::1: Connection refused Trying 127.0.0.1...
 Connected to localhost.
 Escape character is '^]'.
 Connection closed by foreign host.
 [root@mail ~]#

What does your submission log show?

Here is error log below:
@4000500d96de13172754 /var/qmail/bin/qmail-smtpd: error while loading
shared libraries: libselinux.so.1: failed to map segment from shared object:
Cannot allocate memory

Tried to increase softlimit but didn't worked. SELINUX already disabled.

 3) @Eric, Any chance or update for qmailtoaster-plus for CentOS 6 as
qtp-menu and other scripts are not working.

The vpopmail upgrade is a higher priority. Since qmailadmin-toaster is
part of that upgrade, I'll see if I can get other COS6 modifications done
along with that. Don't hold me to it, but I'd like to finish getting this
done by the end of this month. Bharath has done a good deal of the work
already.

Will wait for the same. Hope to get it soon.

 4) Qcontrol got installed but again it is not working.

Jake will need to answer regarding Qcontrol, as he hasn't open sourced it.
FWIW, we're anticipating vqadmin working once again with the vpopmail
upgrade, so you may not need Qcontrol once that's available.

Hi Jake. Hope you active on a list. Can you just check for qcontrol?

There's gotta be some reason qmail-smtpd is trying to load the selinux
object library. Have you rebooted since disabling selinux? You need to
reboot for the configuration to take effect.

I don't recall off hand, I think there are some /proc or /sys settings you
can check to verify that selinux is or is not active.

RE: [qmailtoaster] Re: Mail Certificates

2012-06-20 Thread Amit
Hi,

1) When using the customer's domain name for the incoming/outgoing servers
this obviously increases the amount of certs that a provider will end up
needing - so do you put this on the customer to provide, or do you go with a
wildcard cert, or?

If you want to use SSL for your domain then the very first thing I'll
make change is to use single domain for both pop3 and smtp.

Eg. Mail.xyz.com for both pop3 and smtp instead of pop.xyz.com and
smtp.xyz.com.

This reduces the cost of SSL as it will require only 1 cert instead of 2. Of
course wildcard cert can solve the problem of pop.xyz.com and smtp.xyz.com
but again price of wild card cert is equivalent to 6-7 certs and valid only
for sub-domain of xyz.com.

Yes, there is a solution for covering multiple domains under single cert for
any server. That is called a SAN pack. Some details of the same can be found
here

 http://www.geotrust.com/ssl/ssl-certificates-san-uc/
http://www.geotrust.com/ssl/ssl-certificates-san-uc/

Even I'm getting details from my providers for the same. Will update all
once I get full idea of the same.

2) Is it possible to have multiple certs installed on a QMT host and have
them all share the same IP?

Don't know exactly but I don't find any problem in the same. And if any
then SAN pack should solve the same.

And about new certs, if you have any immediate requirement then we need to
process it manually since API is under development. Meanwhile, I'll share a
URL by tomorrow from where you can generate request for SSL certificate.

Amit,

I'm also going to be in the market for some certs pretty quick here - what
is the best way to go about getting a cert through you?

Also, on a sidenote - since I'm in the email web hosting business I did
have a question regarding implementation of SSL certs with QMT and wanted to
find out some best practice recommendations for how a provider should setup
there SSL infrastructure?

Currently we have several QMT servers each with different roles, but I'd say
primarily there are three (3) main Qmail/QMT servers that house the
mailboxes and users. So, in the early days when most of the customers were
using email addresses from domain names we provided it was simple, they
would all have the same incoming and outgoing mail servers
i.e.; pop.smileglobal.com, smtp.smileglobal.com

However, nowadays we often setup the appropriate names in DNS that map
pop.customer.com to pop.smileglobal.com, etc. Now what I'm unsure about is
the best way to start utilizing SSL/TLS for these customers - here is where
I need some help - 1) When using the customer's domain name for the
incoming/outgoing servers this obviously increases the amount of certs that
a provider will end up needing - so do you put this on the customer to
provide, or do you go with a wildcard cert, or? 2) Is it possible to have
multiple certs installed on a QMT host and have them all share the same IP?

How do other providers handle this?

Thanks guys!

[qmailtoaster] Features in Indimail

2012-01-11 Thread Amit
Had someone gone with indimail. They had modified the qmail for better and
faster delivery.

http://indimail.sourceforge.net/

I'm not here to show advantage or benefits of other mail server on the list,
but as a old user of qmailtoaster how can we upgrade our toaster with the
new features. It also has many features like preventing outgoing mail from
different domain with authentication from domain on server (just like gmail)
and many other features.

Eric, As a new leader of qmailtoaster, I would appreciate if you check out
with new upgrades and features to qmailtoaster. I had been very less active
on list from last few months, but I never missed to read mails whenever I
get time and post. I'm ready to help whatever possible from my side.

I don't know for sure if QMT scans the contents of zip files or not. It
should IMO. Is this a virus that clamav would have caught if it weren't
in a zip file, or is it a virus that clamav simply missed?

Subject: [qmailtoaster] Help I am sending Spam

To all,
I have a Qmail-Toaster server that is sending SPAM messages. They
are from anonymous@my.domain and all are going to mailboxes in Italy. The
message is always the same, subject PostePay Aggiornamento and it is a
HTML based messages that is definently a Phishing message.

Every time we stop Qmail and then empty the queue using qmHandle, then
restart Qmail, a similar thing happens. Around 200 or so messages arrive,
then the server starts sending out these phishing messages.

On the server (Centos 5.6) I have checked the following
Rootkits - with rkhunter
Viruses - Sophos (found 7 viruses and removed)
Checked all the Cron files for anything unusual
Changed all users passwords
SSH was already secured (different port, no root access, etc.) but changed
all settings and passwords.
Checked and attempted a number of things in tcp/smtp
Turned of all user machines on the network, no effect
Stopped httpd

Nothing worked

So, basically I am looking for assistance in how to get rid if this.

Cheers
Mike Canty

If you check with the headers sent in earlier mail, SPAM is generating from
whitelisted IP, proper RDNS, proper SPF and with DKIM signed. So neither
SPAMDYKE is blocking it nor SPAMASSASSIN.

Can you help me with some link or document on how to configure DSPAM with
qmailtoaster.

I use for the first level, spamdyke with greetdelay, greylist and rbl
minimum. Then the other features in spamdyke.

Then I use dspam with toe setting. I have not tried spamassasin.

me how to retrieve the same? I'm using Dovecot.

First check to see if it's subscribed or not. If you can't subscribe
to it, log in to the server and see what's actually there:
 # cd /home/vpopmail/domains/the.domain/the.user/Maildir
 # ls -la
All of the existing folders are .* files in the Maildir.

If it's not there, then perhaps the user inadvertently deleted it.
 You have backups, right?

Please also check within all other folders including Trash. I've seen
IMAP folders inadvertently dragged to a sub-folder and then reported as
missing.

RE: [qmailtoaster] Re: Lost 1 folder in IMAP account

2011-06-06 Thread Amit
Today I enable my email id in crontab once the backup is complete. And I got
below error in mail

mysqldump: Couldn't execute 'show fields from `dir_control`': Got error 28
from storage engine (1030)

gzip: stdin: unexpected end of file

tar: Unexpected EOF in archive

tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now Backup is complete and located
in: /backup/qmailbackup

What can be cause of this error? I think because of the same my all backup
files are corrupted which I never monitor.

I've got a bridging firewall that is ahead of all my servers and the mail
server. I've got that set so tight that it must have been blocking
something with the mail processing. What I've got to go figure out yet. But
for now I've got it straight to the pub side of the switch.

And the message I was waiting for showed up as soon as I bypassed the
bridge. The timeouts have dropped to just a few now
and then too. The bridge is screening for phrases in the packets so it may
of even been one of those that was fouling up message
delivery. I'll have to go back and start with a basic iptables and see what
happens.

RE: [qmailtoaster] ezmlm reject SRS blackberry

2011-04-05 Thread Amit
Error you had mentioned below is coming because of SPF checking. To resolve
this there is 3 solution:

1) Disable SPF checking on server (Easy solution but little security
concern as SPF will completely get disable)

2) Ask blackberry admin to add your domain in there SPF record as
allowed domain to relay the mail from there server.

3) Add em...@srs.bis3.ap.blackberry.com in your mail list. (Not sure
will this solve the problem but atleast you can take a try).

[qmailtoaster] Redirect Bcc mails

2011-04-05 Thread Amit
Hi Everyone,

I just got weird requirement from 1 of my client. If any user is trying to
send mail from QMT server then all mails in To and Cc should get delivered
except to email id mentioned in Bcc. But all outgoing Bcc mails should get
delivered to clients gmail account (ex. a...@gmail.com).

Any idea on how to do the same?

Why not? The stock toaster does by default.
Is the service running?
Is the port open? (firewall?)
Can you telnet to it from the inside? Outside?

You need to check these things. More than likely an external router

Are you using dovecot instead of courier for imap? If your users have

That would be great!

Peter, I expect sogo would go nicely with QMT. The only part that I wonder
about at this point is authentication, namely if sogo is able to
authenticate using with vpopmail. Sogo would likely be able to
authenticate
directly against vpopmail's mysql database, but otherwise we may need to
get
the ldap backend to vpopmail going so that sogo could authenticate against
that. I hope to get vpopmail/ldap going at some point in the future, but I
expect that would be late this year at best.

I didn't thought about authentication at all... Has anyone else done
any work on getting qmailtoaster working with LDAP?

I might try to setup a test virtual server for this purpose and
probably can give access to others as well if there is interest?

Best,
Peter

Hi Eric,

Even I checked from same from my some other QMT server but it is giving same
error. Seems like Remote Server is not accepting EHLO command. But when I
try with HELO instead of EHLO command than Remote Server is responding
properly.

Don't know whether I'm correct or not but I think QMT should try to connect
remote server using HELO hand shaking if EHLO hand shaking is not working.

 Hi all,

The problem with the stock domainkey configuration is that it will
only sign things when they enter the queue. If any application uses
qmail as sendmail replacement (e.g. a locally installed squirrelmail

not be signed.
The DKIM replacement (there was a video Jake did on that) is much
better - it will sign messages when they LEAVE the system and it can
be configured to do DKIM and Domainkeys.

I'd really recommend replacing the stock domainkeys config by the
dkim enhancement. There should also be a page on the wiki about it.

I agree. Anil, would you care to take on creating some wiki content
for
this? You needn't worry about making it polished - someone else may
edit
it once the initial draft is out there.

an older format. Can someone confirm this?

I have 2 things I'd like to resolve. First is, I think it'd be nice
if
the spec file would take care of cleaning up the .cld files
automatically. I expect they can be simply removed. The upgrade
would
revert to a slightly older main.cvd file, but that would be taken
care
of in short time by freshclam.

The 2nd thing is, I wonder why freshclam wasn't (re)started
successfully with the upgrade. It started fine with a service
freshclam start command. Has anyone noticed freshclam not running
 after the upgrade?

Hi Eric,

I had just changed alias name for qmailadmin to myadmin. And this

provide user to change their password. Also webmail link is not shared
with their users. It is only know to their director and ofcourse me.

Patrick@ Since webmail is not shared I can't provide them to do the
same on squirrel mail too. Also as far as I understand webmail will
also generate auto-response if user checked his mail on webmail. If
user is downloading mail in mail client still will it generate
auto-response mail.

Are you trying trying to download mails from remote catchall account
and deliver those mail to respective users. As far as I worked on
MDaemon and Exchange POP they work in same manner. If this is what you
trying to accomplish then fetchmail is the very simple option.

many

So I want to configure fetchmail to download mails and distribute

This is where mails are stored on the qmail server:
 /home/vpopmail/domains/domain/user/Maildir/

What you wrote is actually going to work for local users only.

Grab the appropriate variables via formail (ala procmail) and

Now I'm working on second phase of the same on how to get and pass
from id and subject from mail to my perl script.
As per Bob's mail I can do it from procmail but want to know can I
get from id and subject value via maildrop and pass them to my perl
script. If I install procmail then will it conflict with maildrop.

  Regards,

  Amit

 api/MessageCompose?user=smsserverusername:smsserverpasswordsenderID=smsserversenderidreceipientno=mobilenumbermsgtxt=msgtosendreseller=mysmsproviderstate=2

Whenever I call this URL with respective details it send the sms.
   Now here smsserverusername, smsserverpassword, smsserversenderid

mysmsprovider details will remain same for all users. Only
  details
going to change is mobilenumber and msgtosend variable. Even we
  can
say mobile number will be same for respective user.

Now is there any way to get from id and subject from mail and
  pass
those details into above URL while mail is getting delivered to
   Maildir.

Grab the appropriate variables via formail (ala procmail) and
  execute a
shell script (probably against a lookup table/file with
  user-to-number
values) with a wget/curl in it to that URL.

This seems to get more complex as the thread goes on...
