[qmailtoaster] Mail receiving problem from other domains

2010-06-22 Thread Benedict Claver
Hi Team,

Am having a problem receiving mails from outside my domain eg
yahoo,hotmail,gmail,etc
the logs in the /var/log/qmail/smtp/current shows the two errors as noted
below for all mail sent from those domains. From my domain I can send mails
successfully to other domains.

I don't know exactly what the logs are suggesting to be edited in the
clamd.conf file.

ERROR: Please edit the example config file /usr/local/etc/clamd.conf
qmail-smtpd: qq soft reject (mail server temporarily rejected message (#4.3.0)):

I will appreciate any immediate assistance.

Regards,

Benedict

do you have at line 8 of the clamd.conf
#Example
or
Example

Your clamAV is not running. That is your problem.

Look at the logs of clamav, check if you have stalled socket of a
previous run.

2010-02-08 Thread Benedict Claver
Hi Team,

I tried to repair the queue, ran the queue repair script, no any error were
found in the /var/qmail*
folders.  Sending tests after queue repair didn't show any differency, still
slow, about one minute.
This experience is for both webmail(squirrelmail)  and outlook express.

Please assist guys.

Regards,

Benedict.

I am going to suggest that you first run the queue repair tool.  That usually
repairs these issues.

Hi Team,

I had done a backup in one server and restored in a new qmailtoaster
installation.

The new server send and receives mails but it's very slow in sending either
using squirrel mail or Outlook Express, it takes nearly 2minutes to send one
mail.

Please advise what could be not right. I used scripts available in QMT site.

Benedict

Slow/sluggish performance is often indicative of a problem with dns resolution.
What's in your /etc/resolv.conf? Do you have a caching nameserver installed on
the QMT host?

Hi,

the /etc/resolv.conf  have  two nameservers.

If I dig yahoo.com is resolved normally, but if I dig my
mailservername.mydomain.com it doesn't resolve.

Let me check the DNS files configuration for my subdomain,
mailservername.mydomain.com

Or if have a slight different approach, please advise.

With Regards,

Benedict.

What's in your /etc/resolv.conf file? That will determine which dns
resolver is actually being  used.

What does
# dig yahoo.com
show? The part at the end will show which resolver serviced the request,
and how long it took.

The source rpm for qmail-toaster produces 2 binary rpms named qmail-toaster and
qmail-pop3d-toaster. You need to find the qmail-pop3d-toaster package that was
built and install it.

I believe that send-emails-toaster is also one of those 'extra' ones that is
generated from a different source (control-panel-toaster iirc).

When you're done you should have this:
[root ~]# rpm -qa | grep toaster | sort
autorespond-toaster-2.0.4-1.3.6
clamav-toaster-0.95.2-1.3.29
control-panel-toaster-0.5-1.3.7

Another big challenge I got is that after completing the installation all
applications were seen to be insatlled as the instaructions in the site,
 except  POP3
dispite the fact that POP3-ssl was installed.

I wonder where could I have missed it.  Please give me the crew as am trying
to consider re-starting a fresh installation if I fail to debug.

Give you the crew? I do not understand what you're asking for.
There are lots of documents on how to install Qmailtoaster on the website
that show you how to do it step by step, and I even do a video (the very
 first video!) at http://video.qmailtoaster.com

Hi,

Thanks for prompt response.

To put it more clear,  the package is well downloaded  upon rebuilding  the
.src  extention  is not removed hence i can not
install it, though I don't notice straight errors during rebuild.

more comments will be appreciated.

If possible please give me the FTP location with that same package already
rebuild.

Regards,

Benedict.

Does the rebuild run without problems?
Does it make an rpm below the /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/* directory?

Thats the rpm you should install.

From what you've shown, the rebuild completed. It should now have the RPM in
the /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386 directory. So after a successful rebuild, you
need to install the package:
rpm -Uvh /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/control-panel-toaster*

If you get an error from that, post it.

It sounds similar to something I was going through.  If you are using
spamdyke, add the 127.0.0.1 to your /etc/spamdyke/whitelist_ip file.

Have you used vqadmin at all to maintain any domains or aliases?

vqadmin is broken, and should only be used for inquiries. Personally, I'd

The backup script on my v2gnu.com site isn't up to date.  The up to date

You can modify the script to use the root user instead of the vpopmail

vpomail so that they did not have to have their mysql root password in
the script file and it was changed.

Otherwise I have seen many errors in my log file found at /var/log/clamav.

What you need to do is import the key for yum to update that package that
way.  You can manually install the application in Fedora5 as I believe you
 have by doing the following...

 cd /usr/src/qtms-install
 wget
 http://www.qmailtoaster.org/download/develop/clamav-toaster-0.93.3-1.3.20.src.rpm
 rpmbuild --rebuild --with fdr50 clamav-toaster-0.93.3-1.3.20.src.rpm
 rpm -Uvh /usr/src/redhat/RPMS/i386/clamav-toaster-0.93.3-1.3.20.i386.rpm

You will probably need to restart the smtp service.

What does your /var/qmail/supervise/smtp/run file look like? There's some
switches that can be turned on/off for tcpserver which will control DNS
checks. You can see what all the switches do by:

RE: [qmailtoaster] rcpthosts file

2007-05-02 Thread Benedict Claver
Hi Mark,

Something seems not to be happening correctly as was
expected for the rcpthosts file, though I have not yet
established.

As a temporary solution to that you can remove or
rename the rcpthost file eg rcpthost.bak and you will
be able to send and receive from any domain. It worked
here.

Benny

Hi warren,

I had installed it on CentOS 4.4, and had experienced
the same problem till I removed the rcpthost file then
it worked. Using webmin they is an option of not using

the rctphost file. Though it should have worked with
all localdomains enlisted in the rcpthost as done by
Mark.
