Re: [qmailtoaster] Qmt latest / cos 7 / ipv6 support

2017-03-25 Thread Fabian Santiago
ok, i seem to have it working. installed ucspi-tcp6 as per
instructions, edited the smtp & submission run scripts to use the new
tcpserver and now they're on ipv4/6.

i also re-configured my dns recursor to listen on ipv4 & 6 (unsure if
mandatory but makes sense in my mind).

thanks.

[qmailtoaster] password length max?

2017-03-24 Thread Fabian Santiago
question,

interesting issue; when i create a new user, whether it be via
vadduser or in qmailadmin, i may spec a 39 character password for
example but it winds up being saved in a truncated form, down to only
the first 16 characters.

a.) is this normal
b.) why no warning from vadduser or qmailadmin?
c.) can this limit be expanded?

not that 16 chars is bad but i believe in very strong passwords.

thanks.

That's wild. I also ventured over to another mailing list for an organization
he's been involved in, main plug. They claim he should be just fine and well
and someone claimed to have just recently spoken to him or to have seen a post
from him somewhere online about a month ago. I could find no evidence of that
and he never chimed into the list discussion as others thought he might. Just
my 2 cents.

Well,

I compiled from source v2.1.20 and it seems to be working fine as an
upgrade to the QT iteration of 2.1.12. Does anyone know of any issues
I may encounter with Qmail?

if [ ${PIPESTATUS[0]} == 0 ] \

else
  exit ${PIPESTATUS[0]}

That should do it right?

Re: [qmailtoaster] ClamAV, Spamassassin

2015-05-01 Thread Fabian Santiago
Nvm, You helped me find it. You pointed me to the actual config file where as I
was looking at a file under /etc/spamassassin, which contains my prior file
renamed.

Once I edited the actual file all is as expected. Under /etc/mail/spamassassin.

Question, can/will sa actually rewrite the header with ***spam*** pre-pended if
over the sa defined score limit but below simscans defined spam_hits limit?

Re: [qmailtoaster] mrtg

2015-04-20 Thread Fabian Santiago
Hello,

I believe i just figured this one out. the existing graph types anyway now
work. not sure if I should be creating new ones yet (experimenting with
submission and getting the spam/clam stats to read right) but otherwise it
works.

If you look in /usr/share/toaster/mrtg/qmailmrtg.cfg, you'll see these
lines:

Target[messages]: \`/usr/bin/qmailmrtg m /var/log/qmail/send\`

in each section. simply remove the back slashes from the beginning and end
of the command line, to appear as this:

Target[messages]: `/usr/bin/qmailmrtg m /var/log/qmail/send`

and suddenly my stats started updating and no more errors when i manually
run the cron job.

- Fabian S.

P.S. anyone look at Dovecot graphing? or the proper method for graphing
submission? Right now i copied the smtp section and changed the labels /
logs directory. not sure if that's accurate.

and clam/spam logs appear in maillog. qmailmrtg is likely looking for
standalone logs for those components i presume correct? in case it can
actually read / parse maillog, i set those log dirs simply to /var/log. no
errors but not sure yet if it is graphing it correctly.

I received one of those a few days ago.

I did some digging and figured out what was happening.

   1. Someone posted to the qmailtoaster list from a host that is currently
 listed in an RBL.
   2. Spamdyke on my server checked their IP against the RBL and rejected the
 message(s).
   3. The qmailtoaster ezmlm server received the bounce(s) and noted that my
 server was bouncing mail.
   4. After a set number of bounces, it sent me the same warning that you've
 all received.

Basically, if you get one, it means that (a) your qmailtoaster setup is
behaving as it should, and (b) the qmailtoaster ezmlm software is behaving as
it should. But the end result is these warning messages.

What I can't now remember was whose IP was blacklisted. It might have been
Fabian's (74.125.129.26), but that IP seems to be clear now, so it was
 probably a transient issue.

Hi! This is the ezmlm program. I'm managing
theqmailtoaster-l...@qmailtoaster.com mailing list.

I'm working for my owner, who can be reached
at qmailtoaster-list-ow...@qmailtoaster.com.

Messages to you from the qmailtoaster-list mailing list seem to
have been bouncing. I've attached a copy of the first bounce
message I received.

If this message bounces too, I will send you a probe. If the probe bounces,
I will remove your address from the qmailtoaster-list mailing list,
without further notice.

I've kept a list of which messages from the qmailtoaster-list mailing list have
bounced from your address.

Copies of these messages may be in the archive.

To retrieve a set of messages 123-145 (a maximum of 100 per request),
send an empty message to:
   qmailtoaster-list-get.123_...@qmailtoaster.com
qmailtoaster-list-get.123_...@qmailtoaster.com

To receive a subject and author list for the last 100 or so messages,
send an empty message to:
   qmailtoaster-list-in...@qmailtoaster.com
qmailtoaster-list-in...@qmailtoaster.com

Here are the message numbers:

[qmailtoaster] question about tlsciphers

2015-04-10 Thread Fabian Santiago
is it possible to define:

smtp
smtp-ssl

and have each honor a different cipher list such as the control
file tlsserverciphers?

if i can simply pass the environment variable tlsciphers, how do i do
that exactly and does it in fact take precedence over the standard control
file tlsserverciphers?

reason being i wish to have a more restrictive tlsserverciphers for
submission (eliminating SSL) and then create smtp-ssl to allow ssl on port
465.

thanks.

I'm not exactly sure how to correct mrtg's config to make it work. so i
guess no mrtg for now or does someone know how to correct the situation?

 Hi-
Remember that logs for some of the programs has changed in Qmailtoaster

 (spamd, Clamd..)
check /var/qmail/supervise for those remaining in supervise control and
also - the format (date) has changed in the log for those run by the system.
(Eric S. and the other Qmail mailtainers are moving from supervise in the
latest Centos 7 version to let all of Qmailtoaster be handled by the
 system).

 PS: Just to elaborate:

outsiders for your domain(s). As such, it should have all of your AV, SPAM,
and other protections enabled. Personally, I specifically DENY auth
logins and relaying on this port so that my users HAVE to use the
 submission port.
-- *SMTP on port 587* is called SUBMISSION and SHOULD be used solely for
relaying messages from authenticated users. As such, you may choose to
apply a lighter touch on SPAM or other protections.

*How do I configure these differently? *Using *SpamDyke* with different
 config files for each port

[qmailtoaster] DKIM status

2015-03-26 Thread Fabian Santiago
Is DKIM still not recommended to have deployed into the current QMT? and if
it's fine to use, where can I find current docs on implementing it? Thanks
guys.

[qmailtoaster] Getting my feet wet again / Best route for deployment of QMT on Centos...

2015-03-25 Thread Fabian Santiago
Hello,

I had stepped away from QMT for some time but am returning. Currently, what
is the best route to deploy QMT on Centos and do you recommend Centos 6.x
or 7 / 32 or 64 bit?

I was scanning some of the past list traffic and see that advancements and
updates have been made to the whole process and suite but wasn't sure where
to begin. Thanks.

Re: [qmailtoaster] Getting my feet wet again / Best route for deployment of QMT on Centos...

2015-03-25 Thread Fabian Santiago
Eric,

thanks. that was easy. couple initial issues:

1. dovecot wasn't running upon restart. I started it and set it to run at
bootup. correct? Does dovecot need addt'l configuration?

2. when sending a test msg, squirrelmail tells me:

Message not sent. Server replied:

Temporary authentication failure
454 oops, problem with child and I can't auth (#4.3.0)

so I'm guessing something does need to be configured somewhere.

also, what all else do i need configured out of the box?

thanks.

 Hi Fabian,

The latest stable version is QMT for CentOS 6 found here:
 https://github.com/QMailToaster/qmailtoaster-util
Read the file README.install. This is very easy.

 For testing on CentOS 7:
 1) Install CentOS 7 minimal install (I install both options under
minimal install. One is development tools and I can't remember the other).
 2) curl

 qt_prep.sh
 3) sh qt_prep.sh (Automatic reboot)
 4) sh qt_install.sh

  Hi Fabian,

The latest stable version is QMT for CentOS 6 found here:
 https://github.com/QMailToaster/qmailtoaster-util
Read the file README.install. This is very easy.

 For testing on CentOS 7:
 1) Install CentOS 7 minimal install (I install both options under

 other).
 2) curl

Documentation is still a bit behind. If anyone would like
to get some experience with github's wiki, let me know and
we can apply some teamwork on getting that going. What we
do with that presently has wide open possibilities.

What is the URL for the new docs? Is it something people can
 have a look at?

 Sure. Here it is:
 https://github.com/QMailToaster/qmailtoaster-util/blob/master/README.

install

Pretty simple, eh? Well, simple anywise. Perhaps not so pretty.
 ;)

I'm not yet sure how the wiki's going to fit in to github.

As you can see here: https://github.com/QMailToaster Each package
has its own repository on github. Having a repo for each package
made good sense when it came to automating the build process. I
hope to get the new build process documented one day (it's
highly automated, and the scripts are in the qmailtoaster-repo,
 qmailtoaster-develope and qmailtoaster-build package/repos) -
 perhaps we'll have a qmailtoaster-mirror package/repo at some
point as well). Keep in mind that these are *source* repos, which
serve an entirely different role than the yum repos that reside
on all the mirrors. It's almost a shame that they're both called
repos, because they're extremely different things.

Anywise, poke around there some to get a feel for github. It's
pretty nice, and there's still a lot there that I'm not aware
 of.

Anyone who'd like to contribute can create a github account for
themself, and I'll be happy to add them to the QMT project.

It appears as though each github repo can have its own wiki. So I
guess I'll need to create a qmailtoaster-wiki repo, where the new
wiki will reside. If there are details about any particular
package, that can go in the package's wiki. This doesn't mean the
qmt-wiki needs to follow the structure of the package repos, only
that the project wiki can reference package-specific wiki pages.

 Thanks for asking.

 (Gotta go. More later.)

I've just implemented DSPAM on my QmailToaster (ironed out all the bugs

haven't had one untagged spam since and no false positives. I've only
trained it with spam, no ham. I realize this has only been 18 hours or
so but it works much better than Spamassassin--I have both installed.
I'm wondering if DSPAM shouldn't be stock in the Toaster packages as
Spamassassin and Spamdyke are not doing it for my clients.

I am now setting up a DSPAM gateway for a client.

SpamAssassin logs to /var/log/qmail/spamd.

An important component of SpamAssassin is the bayesian analysis of
messages. I don't remember if this is enabled by default. To enable
it, put this in /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf:

use_bayes 1

Bayesian analysis won't work until it has trained on at least 200 ham
messages and 200 spam messages. Training can be done manually using a
body of samples you've collected, or it can be done automatically by
looking at messages as they pass through the system during normal
operation. To enable autolearning, put this in
/etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf:

bayes_auto_learn 1

More information about SpamAssassin can be found in the QmailToaster
wiki:

http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/Spamassassin

And, of course, at the SpamAssassin site:

http://spamassassin.apache.org/

Definitely run Spamdyke. It greatly reduces the load on the system by
blocking large numbers of obvious spam before they get to the more
resource-intensive Toaster components such as ClamAV and SpamAssassin.

Spamdyke can be installed using scripts in QmailToaster-Plus:

http://qtp.qmailtoaster.com/trac/wiki/Features#qtp-install-spamdyke

I also recommend SaneSecurity signatures for ClamAV. These allow
ClamAV to catch spam as well as viruses and malware. QmailToaster-Plus
includes an install script for SaneSecurity:

http://qtp.qmailtoaster.com/trac/wiki/Features#qtp-install-sanesecurity

I've been using the SaneSecurity Foxhole signatures to catch archive
attachments (.zip .rar etc.) that contain executables. More info:

http://sanesecurity.com/foxhole-databases/

You can also block all file attachments with specific extensions by
adding the extension to the attach= clause in
/var/qmail/control/simcontrol. More info:

http://wiki.qmailtoaster.com/index.php/Simscan

[qmailtoaster] issue with QMT Mailman implementation

2013-10-31 Thread Fabian Santiago

Hello all,

I've integrated Mailman with my QMT using the wiki instructions provided
online.

It all seems to function well except for one thing; when I send email to
'mailman-ow...@lists.photoblogverona.com', I receive back a failure
notice stating:

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at mail.photoblogverona.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following
addresses.

This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

postmas...@lists.photoblogverona.com:
This message is looping: it already has my Delivered-To line. (#5.4.6)

Where should I be looking or what to look at? Thanks.

[qmailtoaster] issues updating clamav with my QMT

2013-10-21 Thread Fabian Santiago

Hello,

please see two attached txt files.

one was me trying to update using qtp-newmodel. The other was trying to
do it manually with rpm.

qtp-newmodel fails because it can't load dependencies. there are 3 with
no packages available:

No package compat-libf2c available.
No package compat-libgcc available.
No package compat-libsdc++-33 available.

and the other failure is trying to update php. this server is a COS 5.9
box where I had manually installed and upgraded to php5.3 (since the
repos only give you php). i had done this to run some others tools that
required it and it didn't seem to adversely affect any other QMT
packages. the QMT package dependencies rely on php. so it fails given
the need for a downgrade.

when i try using rpm manually, it gives the errors seen in the txt file.
and then nothing happens after that and clamav remains NOT updated.

can Mr. Shubes or anyone else offer me any suggestions? Thanks guys for
your help in advance.

Hello,

Are you saying that QMT by default uses

1st QMT build vpopmail with disable-users-big-dir (and that this

or are you saying that re-building the vpopmail package with this option
will solve the problem? Thanks. I have seen this happen myself numerous

Although this is more of a encumbrance than real issue, I'm curious

think that cur_users should be the actual count of the number of
users. I suppose I could write an SQL script to look up each domains
user count and update with real numbers. I'm hoping this isn't an
indication of a larger issue that I'm not aware of.

I'll try to explain, but french native, sorry

1st
QMT build vpopmail with disable-users-big-dir

2nd
when disable-users-big-dir is on
the function which increase cur_users in dir_control is not called
but the function which decrease yes

3rd
vqadmin or its cgi was built with 32bits binary integer instead of
signed integer
which maximum value is 9
mod_domain will throw an error when cur_users is to this value
this error is not catched therefore view_domain is empty

4th
the decrease function simply do a -- to cur_users without controlling
its value

as increase function wasnot called, this value is 0
but 0 -1 makes an overflow and it is system maximum value which is
returned

4294967295 for a 32bits os
1844674407370955161 for a 64bits os

5th
cur_users field is a signed integer
therefore mysql reduces these huge values to its maximum or 2147483647

if you have less than 8/16 users
the less effort solution is to change cur_users type from signed
integer to signed/unsigned medium integer
their maximum values |8388607/|||16777215| won't exceed cgi or vqadmin
maximum value

that's all folks

I just saw your message and I do not know if you solved it or not.

I recently had an issue with my keys and Gmail. They increased the key
length requirement and mine were being rejected because of that. Below
is an article of this.

http://blog.returnpath.com/blog/ken-takahashi/google-doubles-down-on-weak-dkim-keys-what-you-need-to-do-now-to-be-compliant

After updating my keys to a longer length, I had to wait for google to
update their cache servers so that they saw the new key. I always make
sure the key can be seen by google's servers by querying 8.8.8.8 and
8.8.4.4 for the text record. Also, I had to verify that I was using the
correct selector in my signconf.xml (I created a new selector with the
new key so that I could use the shorter key until I saw that the new key
had propagated).

Re: [qmailtoaster] How to make more than one domain into one server

2013-07-17 Thread Fabian Santiago
If you just follow the qmail toaster instructions online, it explains
everything you're asking for step by step on how to set up. And the qmt scripts
do an awesome job of automating most of the install for you.

Qmail includes SMTP, so I'm unsure what you're asking for there.

Personally, I'd recommend using roundcube instead of squirrelmail. You can
google instructions on how to do it and if I'm not mistaken, qmt may already
have a scripted procedure for setting up roundcube. I forget now how I got mine
setup. But if you google it, it's out there.

s...@example.com and nots...@example.com

SA is also there as part of the default qmt install. I am just
 experimenting with dspam. Thanks everyone.

I like dspam more.

[qmailtoaster] Dspam with QMT / per-user settings

2013-07-11 Thread Fabian Santiago
Hello,

I've recently set up dspam on my qmt system using these instructions:

http://qmail.jms1.net/dspam/

Now, i have a couple questions:

1.) any way to implement the ability for users to set their own settings?

2.) best method of training dspam and possibly automating it by placing spam
/ham in certain folders or mailboxes?

SA is also there as part of the default qmt install. I am just experimenting
with dspam. Thanks everyone.

[qmailtoaster] Qmail toaster development plans

2013-07-04 Thread Fabian Santiago
Are there any current plans for releasing a new toaster build? I'm not looking
for anything in particular nor do i have any problems. Just curious.
