Hi Jake,

Would you mind share the information for replication on the wiki page? We
decided to setup a secure VPN connection to do this job.

I followed the qmail replication setup at the wiki page, but failed many times.
I would like to try your method to do this job.

Thanks in advanced.

Gabriel

Hello,

I think it would be nice and great if there is a wiki describing the
replication QT server over internet. Many customers are looking into Fail-Over
solution at a different site/office.

Whenever Primary Mail Server is down or dead, then the Secondary Mail Server
should take over and this will not stop any of the company's operations. Even
there won't be any complaints from the users too :)

It will be appreciated if there is a how to on this topic.

Thanks in advanced.

Currently I am using rsync through ssh to the backup server in the
office. The mail server is in the data center. We setup a cron to run
the rsync every two days.

I wouldn't use SSH as it's no the easiest way to do. Better solution
is to use some kind of VPN to tunnel traffic securely from one LAN to
another. I've got three installations of such kind. One is using
pppd-over-ssh VPN, second is using VTund-based VPN over a /dev/tapX
interface (going to replace VTund with OpenSSH as more industry
widespread solution), third is using RHEL4 native IPSec support.

Over a VPN you can use any services you want, including NFS, of
rsyncing using it's own native protocol, specifying password in a
separate 'password' file.
