Michael,
The new upgrade script backs up and restores /var/lib/squirrelmail and
/var/spool/squirrelmail directories in their entirety. These are
presumably

all configuration/user type files. While you're at it, can you verify
whether or not this is the correct thing to do regarding squirrelmail on
upgrades?

Yeahman, I can do that.

Eric,

It appears that /var/lib/squirrelmail has all the user prefs stored

under: /var/lib/squirrelmail/prefs --- prefs is the only item in

the /var/lib/squirrelmail directory. This dir contains all user
preferences, address books, etc.

The /var/spool/squirrelmail has a single directory (only, no other
files) calledattach and it appears to have messages 'sent' by
the user (via squirrelmail) but not actually sent out smtp. One might
think that it has only email attachments, but looking at one of the
files under ./attach/ shows the message itself.

Hmmm...examining closer shows a message that was inbound for a user but
I guess that user has not checked their inbox yet, so, hey, that's
what a mail spool directory is for, right? :-)

Please let me know if I'm done any good here...

:-p

This probably sounds like a dumb question, but where was it to begin with?

A server migration would have nothing to do with address books or screen

If the address book was in squirrelmail, then it was not backed up.
You'll have to do this manually. I did not include those dirs in the
backup. It will be included in a future release.

I'm pretty sure this is the issue. I'm the guy who did the migration.
In fact, he won't be the only person looking for their address book.
I'm glad he spoke up.

And thanks, Jake, for the backup script. I totally overlooked the
squirrelmail stuff.
The old server is still there, we'll be able to recover any thing that
was left behind.

Michael,
The new upgrade script backs up and restores /var/lib/squirrelmail and
/var/spool/squirrelmail directories in their entirety. These are presumably
all configuration/user type files. While you're at it, can you verify
whether or not this is the correct thing to do regarding squirrelmail on
upgrades?
