We can't and do not go to war with nations because they have evil leaders. We have not declared war on the former country known as Burma. We sat and denounced Vietnam in the 70's for going into Cambodia to end the horror there. We propped up theShah of Iran then can not understand why Iran thinks we are their enemy. We backed the Taliban until 9/11. We watched the genocide in Rwanda and today we blame the UN. While we as quads may feel that priorities are not correct, as
Americans we should realize 9/11 changed many things.
Gone was that secuirity we felt, seperated from what is a daily way of
life in places like Israel, Chile, Indonesa, Pakistan, Sri-Lanka, and
many other places where Islamic Facists and other groups of Terrorists
have been waging their war on modern society. I'm more pissed off at
the Leftist Media BS which ignores everything good happening while
overblowing things like the ABUSE (not TORTURE) which a few were
guilty of in Abu Grav, the story about our soldiers mistreating the
Koran that turned out to be a LIE run by News Week, which caused riots
resulting in deaths. When the truth came out that detainies had been
flushing its pages down the toilet, not a word was heard out of the
Middle East.
People like Ted Kennedy should sit down and shut up instead of trying
to use this for political gain. All they do is add more fuel to the
fire which Al Gazeera can't wait to use.

John wrote:

Are you SURE about that?
There have been an average of 160,000 troops stationed in Iraq during
the last 22 months. During this time the firearm death total was 2,112
for a firearm death rate of 60 per 100,000. The rate in Washington DC
is 80.6 per 100,000. That means that you are more likely to be shot and
killed in our Nation's Capitol, which has some of the strictest gun
control laws in the nation, than you are in Iraq.

Conclusion: We should immediately pull out of Washington, D.C.

Sorry guys,
But I support the effort in Iraq.
I have my reasons to believe it was something we had to do.
If the damned French had not stabbed us in the back, the war could have
been avoided.
Knowing what we know NOW, it's a good thing we put an end to Sadamned
before the world dropped the 91 sanctions.

Subject: Accessible Resort in WI - Summer Activities

A friend recently told me "If you can dream it, You can do it".
Well, my dream is becoming reality. The new cabins at Sunset Pines Resort have turned out beautiful. The weather is not assisting our landscaping projects but we are working through it. The fish are biting in the stocked lake and the pontoon is docked and ready on Mead Lake.
SUMMER IS HERE!!!
I’ve been working on rewriting and updating the resort web site. I feel it’s more user friendly now. In the near future I hope to be adding a "video" tour of the resort that you can view on your computer. There is a "Link to my Page" button if anyone has a link to their web site you would like to add. You can also place my banner/link on your web site by clicking on the "Put my Banner on your Page" button.
Cruise the new web site. Especially check out the "Upcoming Events" and the "Discounts Specials" pages under the "Updates/Pics/Events" button. Just click on the "All Entries" bar at this link - http://sunsetpinesresort.com/cgi-local/update/cbdirect.cgi
If you have not already done so, I encourage everyone to sign up for the Resort NEWSLETTER. I sent out a NEWSLETTER today through the web site. It will state in your e-mail Subject Line - Sunset Pines Resort Newsletter - UPDATED WEB SITE. If you did not receive that e-mail, you are not signed up yet. Located on the home page, just enter your e-mail address. In a few weeks I will be running an ad campaign through the NEWSLETTER that involves Free Beer?!?
Feel free to let you friends know about the resort and its web site. My first priority are those with disabilities but the cabins are useable by anyone in need of a vacation spot or a location for a reunion, wedding or social function. Summer dates are filling in fast.
ROCK CREEK DISABLED OUTDOORS, Inc. is a newly formed non-profit organization created to assist disabled individuals in accessing the many recreational opportunities available that they may not be able to afford otherwise. Tooffer a tax deductible donationor for more information, please contact Dale through the Sunset Pines Resort web site.
Have a great summer and please help spread the word. I will be adding and changing photo’s as the landscaping evolves around the new cabins. I hope it will be as beautiful as my dreams.
We are aware that on occasion someone will volunteer a friends email address. If you didn't submit your email address and would like to be removed, please reply to this letter with "REMOVE" in the subject line. We will remove you at once.

Hi All,
I just stumbled upon this poem that was written about me back in 1976, three years post by a friend who was only 15 at the time. AndI wanted to share it with you all.

   "A Poem for Bobbie"

A normal life i will never lead,
or to walk or run at an average speed.
I sit in my chair with the wheels on the end,
resting my legs which will never bend.
People wonder as they stop and stare,
how a life like this I could possibly bear.
But they are to blind to stop and see,
that living a life, no matter how it be,
is the greatest joy one can ever know,
And should not be thought be thought of as only pity and woe.
The normal people say, as I wonder with surprise,
that a life is not worth living if you cannot rise.
In a chair to which I am constantly bound,
they think love is something I've never found.
They pity me and i wonder why,
for it is for them that I sit and cry.
The "normal" people is what they are called.
But this is a term to which I am appalled.
They call theirs a life, and they tend to insist,
But a life I live, and they only exist.

Hi Lori,

You're right. Medicare pays 100% of the APPROVED AMOUNT. The home health agency can, and in my case does, bill Medicare more than the APPROVED AMOUNT. Theywill only receive 80% of the BILLED AMOUNT -- which is 100% of theMedicare APPROVED AMOUNT. I am not responsible for the difference.

Unlike Dr visits, lab tests, etc (which Medicare pays only 80%of the costs)Medicare pays for ALL my home health care (nurses, aides, supplies) and pays 100%. 100% in full. And I've been receiving this care since 1997 - 8 yrs.

Thank God they pay 100% because I can't afford a Medigap supplemental insurance policy. I had one for years but they kept upping the premiums to the point I could not afford the payments.

Hi Dana,

Antihistamines(Benadryl is a brand name)are used to relieve or prevent the symptoms of hay fever and other types of allergy. They work by preventing the effects of a substance called histamine, which is produced by the body. Histamine can cause itching, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes. Also, in some persons histamine can close up the bronchial tubes (air passages of the lungs) and make breathing difficult.
Some of the antihistamines are also used to prevent motion sickness, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. In patients with Parkinson's disease, diphenhydramine may be used to decrease stiffness and tremors. Also, the syrup form of diphenhydramine is used to relieve the cough due to colds or hay fever. In addition, since antihistamines may cause drowsiness as a side effect, some of them may be used to help people go to sleep.

[QUAD-L] TMA Inkjet Toner Cartridge Recycling Program

2005-06-08 Thread Jim Lubin

See our web site for more information:
http://recycle.myelitis.org/

Simply collect those empty inkjet and toner cartridges, box them up and
send them in using our free, pre-addressed Collection Boxes and Baggies.
The TMA will earn up to $18 (for toner cartridges) to be used toward
research for and education of neuroimmunologic diseases (which include:
Transverse myellitis, Neuromyelitis optica, Acute disseminated
encephalomyelitis, Optic neuritis and Multiple Sclerosis)
Nearly a million empties are thrown away in the United States
every day, so they shouldn't be hard to find.
You can register online to order free shipping supplies and shipping
labels, manage your account, see live receiving reports of checked in
cartridges and credits issued and view box order history plus download
and print a free customized shipping label instantly online.
Why recycle Inkjet Toner Cartridges?
Recycling keeps large amounts of plastics out of landfills. Every year
over 300 million cartridges are thrown away. This means for each
cartridge, about 2.5 pounds of plastic is thrown into a landfill. It will
never go away!
Recycling saves natural resources. To produce a single new laser
cartridge, over 3 quarts of oil are used. In contrast, a recycled
cartridge only requires 1 quart of oil to be able to be reused. Recycling
saves two quarts of oil per cartridge. This year alone, toner cartridge
remanufacturing will save over eleven million (11,000,000) gallons of
oil.
Thank you for your support!

Hello

I'm new to the list, It came thanks to Wally. I've been to Sunsetpines Resort, really nice place to go and Dale is a friend of mine. I'm from WI. and am curious how many are Wisconsinites out there? I'm a c3-4 incomplete quad injured in car accident9-25-98 from central WI.

Re: Spam Alert: Re: [QUAD-L] FOUND IT! - Medicare Home Health Care

2005-06-08 Thread tahouston

When daughter was living with me, my
Medicare/HMO gave me 49 hours of PCA care, one visit a week from a nursing
agency to check my wounds, and two home visits a year if I chose not to make a
personal office visit from a doctor.

Now that my 18-year-old daughter no longer lives
with me, they have decreased my hours to 42 hours for PCA care.

I live alone in a three-bedroom ranch in a West
suburban area of Chicago. They told me that if I get another roommate or
rent out a room, they will return my 49 hours. Go figure.Tom

  35hrs a week -- whata pipe dream!I
don't know of a single qualifying person who receives this amount of HHA care
paid for through Medicare - does anyone? Medicare reps told me it only paid
for 3 visits a week -period - regardless of condition that's a whopping
three hours (whoohoo). I didn't know about all this "agencies get to keep the
money" policy NO REPS volunteered that tid-bit what little I've learned has
been through what I could glean from their handbook and other fellow
  sufferers, err, clients.
