lyrica?

I've recently tried both, still on the Lyrica. Neither caused a headache, just an upset stomach and extreme drowsiness. Neither relieved any of my pain.On 2/23/06,

I'm just wondering if the headaches are from not taking the neurontin since
I have taken it so long. I did go off of it slowly but I've had a
consistant headache for about a week.

I didn't take very much neurontin, 900 mg per day for about two weeks. I quit taking it cold turkey without any withdrawal effects. Since you took it for a long time, I wouldn't doubt it if that's what's causing your headache, but I'm certainly no expert.

[QUAD-L] Best cities for a quadriplegic??

2006-02-23 Thread David Boyer
My friend Monty is a C-3/C-4 of over 12 years. He
currently lives in Mishawaka, Indiana. What he is
looking into is moving to another part of the country,
mainly just because. He is looking at Youngstown,
Ohio; any of you have good experiences in other
cities? He will need skilled nursing/home aides since
he will be living away from my daughter and myself,
who have assisted him for twelve years now. He has
normally had 21 hours a week of CNA coverage, except
for these last 15 months he has had only my daughter
and I (and my ex-husband until a month ago)assisting
him. He has his associates degree in business
administration with a specialty in marketing, as well
as a technical certificate in Computer Information
Systems. He works once a week at Target and volunteers
at a local elementary school. He is on Medicaid and
Medicare and receives disability, too. He uses a
lifeline with a head switch when he is alone in the
apartment and in bed. So, anyway, any good spots for
a guy like him? Oh, and he is 31 years old. Any
recomendations I will pass on to him since he doesn't
have an email account yet.
Thanks!

2006-02-23 Thread S. Dial

Lori,

Bless your heart, you've had some awful
experiences! I've had more cystoscopies than I can recall, actually and, luckily
for me, never a bad experience with any of them. I usually have them to remove
numerous large bladder stones butmy last one (Oct 2005) was done along
with my getting a supra pubic catheter. In every cystscopy instance
thoughI've had it done outpatient ata hospitalunder general
anesthesia. The only "crappy" effect I've ever felt was a temporary worsening of
bladder spasms.

Have you had the same dr perform your cystos? Do
you knowwhat anesthesia was used when you had an adverse reaction? I've
heard, but don't know how true it is, of quads undergoing this with just a
local and faring much better - wonder (if it's true) if this would work for you?

Best of luck,

Steph

Lori-- Hope all goes well-- you will be in our prayers As you know I have had long time severe repeat bladder UTI"S also--- I have suspected that perhaps stones could be my problem also... how do they do a CT Scan is it simple ?? my Doctor has checked for stones twice by using IVP dye injection with an x-ray and found none but it has been 1/12 or 2 years ago... I have heard stones can develope fast but i'm not sure on that. Thanks for information, Dan c-6 8 plus years post. That was partially the culprit of my back-to-back UTIs over the past year. POSSIBLY.My Dr understands my "concerns" (below) and says there is no hurry to have it done but they are too big to come out on their own so they have to put me under and go through the urethera and break them up with a laser. So, unfortunately, it's invasive.I'm not worried abt the procedure itself so much as the other things that can go wrong especially since a simple Dr office cystoscopy on me in the 90s went fine but caused HORRID ADfull week afterward.I worry about the otherquote "professionals" in the O.R. and all the oops that can happen. BUT MOSTLY worry about the AD post-procedure. I know it's the anesthesiologists job to keep the BP in check in the O.R. but what about the recovery room and so forth? My urologist says it's an outpatient procedure. I have no
supplemental insurance so I'll be paying 20% of what MediCARE pays the anesthesiologist, the hospital, and all those misc expenses.Anyway for those who've recently had it done under anesthesia and worry abt AD ... * Where did you have it done? * How many stones did you have? (I have "a few but big in size") * Were you under general an!
 esthesia
and in and out the same day? * Did you suffer any adverse reactions afterward? * What was 'the crappy' part of it?Any other input welcome! Now, on yet ANOTHER HAND ... I'm wondering whether my urologist is telling me the "full story" because so many Drs are eager to do procedures these days. I sound paranoid but have seen it happen many timesin ANY case scenarios. I have my films so I know I can get another opinion. After all, I'm in no hurry and have no symptoms.I ALSO worry about the following by having this procedure done.Because all that can wreak havoc with AD and just plain needlesstrauma: What are the side effects of the treatments? -- The process of breaking up bladder stones and removing them with a cysto!
 scope is
often traumatic to the bladder. -- Blood in the urine can be expected for 1 to 2 weeks afterwards. -- Urinating may be somewhat uncomfortable during this time. -- Surgery carries a risk of bleeding, infection, and allergic reaction to anesthesia. -- Tearing of the bladder or abnormal urine leakage is also possible, though rare. The last (and only) two procedures done to my bladder were BAD. My cystoscopy (removing many small stones in 1992ish) and filling my bladder and bursting it in 1987ish to have an ultrasound done. The dingbat nurse who shoved water in my bladder burst it and over a hundred blood clots came out. She wasn't the least concerned. Thanks, Dan.

Yes ... CT Scan is a simple scan.

Stones can grow slow or fast but I didn't know THEY GREW! In 2001-2002 an x-ray showed 3 little ones which I thought I
passed but doc thinks those are the ones that grew. So that is 4 yrs. IF I believe him.

  I was taking 1200 3x a day. Thanks. I now know. They
are awful. I have had 2 migranes and the rest consistant all day
headaches. Thanks for letting me know what the cause was. I told
my doc about them and he thinks itÂ’s a combination of stress and the spasms
I've been having. He says they shoot up through your back up into your
head but I've had terrible spasms like this before.
