Re: [QUAD-L] Another Ladies only question ! (Menopause and S.C.I.)
I certaintly wish I didn't have mine. I'll be 34 in July and with the condition of my back with all the rods, I've decided I don't want to bare children. I hate not knowing exactly when it's coming and then when it does come, I have a mess to clean up a lot of times b/c I cant feel that it's come. I do wear depends in case my catheter leaks and make sure not to miss a day when I am expecting my period. (Menopause and S.C.I.) I am 42 years old, and after my accident in December of 2000, I didn't have my period for seven months or so. Of course, when I would mention this to my husband back then, he would say let's not talk about it. Maybe it will never come back. Well, shortly after that it did come back. Now, I wish it would go away. Couple of things. One is that I have a 33-year-old caregiver, who had to have a total hysterectomy due to cancer. She is cancer free and we are always joking about her not having a period anymore and how I wish I didn't. Also, I never thought my husband would be putting in a tampon for me, much less showing a caregiver how to do it. I use a tampon during the bowel and shower program. Thank God we have a good sense of humor. I have to wonder if I'm looking forward to menopause. As I'm normally cold, and I wonder how the hot flashes are, besides the lack of bleeding. I guess I'll have to wait and see. Thank goodness we don't have to watch the WHOLE thing. The trials are very painful so I watch starting with the last 12. I'm sure there's a lot of other fluff I don't need to see. There's lots of behind the Idol scenes shows to watch if that's your bag. The rules are public popularity - I approve 100% - I'm looking for a new entertainer, not just a singer. John Michael Montgomery it a terrible entertainer but a very good singer - bllleeeccch. Give me mediocre singer but an upbeat entertainer any day. If it isn't for viewer enjoyment, you and are certainly disproving that statement. Contrary to your post, i believe your cup is really 1/2 full. AZDAVE In a message dated 4/9/2008 6:29:05 A.M. LOL, yes on the 1/2 full. There is no better way to explain it. But that explains Reality TV as an industry. Give the public what they want and hope they buy it. As you already know its not about the talent... its all about the money. I just wished they would keep some of those monies in our country instead of sending it abroad How do you feel on that issue. [QUAD-L] dangers
Hi Everyone. At the beginning of this week, I was in Indianapolis Ind. for a Governor Board meeting. My CAN and I had some hours before the meeting, so we went to the mall in downtown Indianapolis. While we were in the mall she stopped because, this guy was trying to sell make up in the middle of the mall. So, I stopped with her to listening to him trying to sell us the make up. All at once she had seen that someone had stolen her over night bag that was on the back of my wheelchair. Well she started running down the mall trying to find her bag. I went after her and we found a policeman. She told him that someone had stolen her over night bag from me and that she was angry that someone was so hard up that they would steal from a disability woman. The policeman told her it happens all the time. You might be wondering way Im telling you this story. I do not want it to happen to you. When you are out in the public be aware we are vulnerable to those who are dangers. My CAN told me to get a little bell on my book bag then if someone tries to take it I will hear it and just back up and nock them down and start yelling. I know I will be ready for anyone who tries to steal something from me. Wheelchair Warrior __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

Re: FW: [QUAD-L] Anybody nerve sensitive to noises?
I know this is little late, but I've been having technical problems last few days. While sudden noises that I am not ready for still causes painful spasms in my bladder, I'm not nearly as sensitive as it used to be. My first couple years after my injury any type of loud sudden noise would send a shock wave down my spine and pain would erupt around the lumbar region. Thank goodness that has diminished. Re: [QUAD-L] MRSA
As far as I know, which doesn't mean a lot, MRSA is sometimes so susceptible to Vanco and a few other broad-spectrum antibiotics, but this is not always the case. My father-in-law, who was extraordinarily weakened by a stroke, succumbed to MRSA about three years ago and he was given Vanco. It's not always successful in knocking the strain out. We do have a special interest in it because so many of us are dependent on the doctors and nurses that do so much to spread it. I do believe the insurance companies that have done so much to reduce the quality of care in order to increase profits should be held responsible. They are a direct source behind forcing the best doctors and nurses from the hospitals. In many cities across America corporations have been caught working with insurance companies to fix prices in local areas. This has driven the best doctors and nurses away from these markets. In Cincy they busted GE and PG along with Ford and Anthem and Humana. After this grand conspiracy was exposed the whistle blower was fired and each of the corporations received a sharp tongue lashing from a federal judge that couldn't think of anyway to punish such an act fairly...the end. Once again proving that we need to nationalize health care if only to stop corporations from destroying our medical system for the profits. See! I really can't believe we are more interested in pouring money into the black hole of Africa where people reproduce like dogs not even knowing how it happens when quite a number here in the USA (most living within a stone's throw of the pro-sports arenas ) need so much and have a similar misunderstanding of simple biology. Not to hi-jack your thread but I read this week the high school graduation in Chicago is 60%. Graduation rate in Indianapolis is less than 50%. Re: [QUAD-L] supra swimming
I have a supra catheter and use my pool every summer (to float around in since I can't do much swimming :-( ) and have never had to plug the hole well. I do keep my daily bandage and tape on it, but nothing special, and then of course have to change it (the bandage) when I get out of the pool. I've never had any problems with the catheter from being in the pool. Hope that helps... happy swimming!
