[QUAD-L] One More Question

2009-09-13 Thread Steve Crowder
Hi everybody. I'm still working on the fall issue of my magazine, Dangerwood...
The Magazine. If you don't mind, would you please tell me your name, your type
of disability, how it occurred, what you did or were doing before your
accident, or onset, and what you are doing now. What one or two pieces of
advice do you have for someone with a new injury? Finally who's your favorite
band and what's your favorite movie?

Thanks again, Nick

I would like to know what college you are attending and the class this is
for? It's a general question as list serves are public and professors
usually request full disclosure.

Hello,
I am a 2nd year occupational therapy student. This semester, one of our
assignment requirements is to log onto a listserv of our choice. Once we
are logged onto a listserv, we are suppose to pose questions and learn from
those who subscribe to the listserv as well. I was wondering if you would
allow me to be apart of your listserv so that I may gain more insight and
knowledge that can be applied to my practice in the future?

It takes a lot of time to mouse grid to do anything in Vista. I like some

Dana,

I'm using Dragon NaturallySpeaking Professional 10 with Vista Home Premium
and it works very well. It is critical to also install the Ver. 10 service
pack 1 (a free upgrade) which resolves a number of issues.

What software is requiring you to use mouse grid commands to do anything in
Vista? Depending on the program, there may be alternative voice commands
that will work more efficiently. Also, Professional lets you create your own
custom commands through scripts and macros which may overcome any perceived
limitations.

When you're in vista Dana, just ask it what can I say? A list of commands
will come up. If you say show numbers it will show each clickable I am,
say the number and OK and that will open. I like vista because you don't
have to use mouse commands. However, I don't do web pages, and usually only
use excel, word, and drawing program and the only game I do is mahjongg
titans. So for me vistas plenty.

I went 25 years with no sores, but the last few years I have had a few
smaller size ones on my butt. Bad enough I needed some care, but not having to
stay in bed. Smaller than a dime and not too deep I used a few different
products used to eat the dead tissue but not the good meat, then a pad of stuff
you cut out and place on the wound that helps the healing, then cover with a
dressing. But lately I keep getting wounds on my nutz. Not like a small
pressure sore, more like a rubbed raw area. But today it was in a new area on
the front of my nutz that was more like a deep wound that started bleeding. It
doesn’t look like it gets much pressure there. I’ve used boxer briefs for
years, but I’ll change to just briefs. I’ve switch to sweat pants awhile ago
and it hasn’t helped. I spend hours each day outside in the heat and my crotch
does get sweaty. I’ve tried different powders, but that just makes a sticky
mess. You other guys ever have troubles in that area?

Hi Naomi,

It sounds like you need the Service Pack 1 update for Dragon 10 and possibly
the 64-bit upgrade for Ver. 10 (it's free if you own the 32-bit version) for
whichever edition of Dragon 10 you use. Are you working with Nuance.com on
your error messages? They have been responsive for me in the past, though it
did take several days at times. On the messages regarding hot keys used in
another program, all of the Dragon default hot keys can be changed to
whatever works best for you. Not trying to sell Dragon, but it's a good
program and the problems you are having should be resolvable.

Naomi,

Scripts and macros allow you to execute multiple actions (i.e. type text,
issue keyboard commands, manipulate the mouse, etc.) with a single voice
command. Here are a few simple examples I created:

When I say Mayor's Committee Signature Dragon automatically types the
following:

Steve Oldaker

Brunswick Glynn County Mayor's Committee on Services for the Disabled, Inc.

www.mayorscommittee.org

When I say Computer Club Signature Dragon automatically types the
following:

Steve Oldaker

Southeast Coastal Georgia Computer Club

www.secgcc.org

When I say Undo Last (1-10) Dragon presses Ctrl+Z (the default undo
command for most programs) 1 to 10 times depending on which number I spoke.
This is great for MS Office programs and even Freecell.

Hope this helps.

would sweat and get fevers before the UTI was bas enough to show up on tests.

Hi group,

I read some of the posts regarding the sweating problem. I too have had this
problem and ran a bunch of test. The doctors where pretty stumped. I think that
I have finally figured out that it's a UTI problem. When we sit up it puts more
pressure on the bladder which irritates the bladder when it's already upset
from the UTI. It causes pain and then we sweat. I take a daily antibiotic for
urine and have no more sweating. I may be wrong but it has helped me.

Good luck and great health,
