Greg, that sounds great, if it works properly. While I'm sitting there watching
television. I'm not using my chair's control. It could be put to good use, as I
am currently looking for a voice operated TV remote.

I was reading a little about Invacare having this MK6i IR
It can convert your chair's joystick into a remote control for your TV, DVD,
etc. Even use it to move your mouse on your computer.
Anyone ever try this? It could be cool.

There are two programmers. A factory programmer and a dealer programmer.
You won't find a factory programmer, but some used dealer programmers can
be found at EBay. Make sure that you also get a owner manual for the
programmer.

Get all your manuals, keep record of s/n's, model, electronics version, and any
information that you can.  Mark all fuses and breakers as to what they control,
if the motors take brushes keep extra on hand.

I have an Invacare storm (3rd one) and have kept old chair for parts.

Advise:  If you have a good relationship with your repair person, tell him you
want another chair for backup that matches what you have.  Many times when
someone gets a chair they junk the old one.  IMPORTANT, ask the repairman and
not the company.  My guy takes the chairs and keeps them so if anyone has to
pay from their own pocket, he sends the part and tells me to send what it is
worth to me.

Quadius,

I have had my Permobile Chairman since January of 1999. I got it in New
York State when I used to live there. It was not until I moved to Arizona
where I went on longer walks (sidewalks and bike lanes that go on forever
here) and what you described below is EXACTLY what happened to me in 2001 or
2002. And, like you, the button just needed to be pushed again.

Then, it did not happen again for several years but I noticed that when it
DID happen again... I was going quite fast. Since then, I have never gone
full speed. Because if it ever stopped that abruptly again... I would go
flying forward even with my Velcro belt on. I am an average cruiser
anyway. Not too fast and not too slow.

Yesterday while I was out riding around my half mile loop, my Permobile
just simply up and stopped. The computer shut down and I had no way to turn
it on. Thankfully one of my neighbors happen to step outside her house
after I had been sitting there for 10 minutes. They only needed to hit the
button again in order for the computer to boot back up, but this is really
 dangerous.

 Sorry I couldn't help.
