Re: [QUAD-L] Am idol
I was thinking the same thing while I was watching the program. It would be nice if they did including the proceeds from the local commericals. I wonder if they did because I have it in my head that more people tuned in for gives back than regular idol because of the cause. Re: [QUAD-L] Am idol
I read that in the only report I saw regarding last year's giveback program. It's interesting how 19 Entertainment received $5 million in tax deductions for last year's program, but still hasn't required the company who handled all the finances of last year's program to release the complete records of who received what. The Huffington Post has a pretty decent report on all of this. Quadius PS thanks for the heads up. Re: [QUAD-L] Am idol
Actually wheelchair, you have hit on one of the primary reasons there is so many impoverished people in this country. Keep in mind I'm excluding the severely disabled community from the comment, for right now. I don't know the exact stats, but I heard that the true rates of graduation from high school are much lower than people realize. For instance, here in Florida they do not count the dropouts when they are touting their graduation percentage. It's an absolute travesty. It's something were done to reform the education system properly in this country, we would have a lot less problems. There are, however, many other social factors which play into the graduation disgrace in this country. I am not a sociologist, nor do I pretend to be, but there are several programs which could be expanded and better funded to help end the cycle of poverty. I am in the process of writing a blog about Idol Gives Back, but I'd like to make it a little more factual than I have so far. Basically the premise of my blog is that if Fox, news Corp., were really concerned about giving money to charity they would not have been showing paid commercials during Tuesday night's broadcast. Re: [QUAD-L] Am idol
Theres a real good reason people don't adopt American children. When they get older and wonder who there real mom or dad is, in America, they can find them. (Thank you Oprah, Phil, and Sally) In America we keep records of adoptions dating back to the 1800's. People who want to adopt a child usually do not want to face this emotional mine field down the road. In 15 states the birth mother has been able to reverse the adoption. In 12 states the unwed father can and has reversed the adoption, in 4 cases the birth father was even in prison. How much can you afford in legal fees after paying $35000 for an adoption. Adopt a Chinese child for $15000 and have none of those worries. john - Original Message From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; quad-list@eskimo.com Sent: Wednesday, April 9, 2008 5:41:55 PM Subject: Re: [QUAD-L] Am idol I was going to say exactly the same thing. Thank goodness we don't have to watch the WHOLE thing. The trials are very painful so I watch starting with the last 12. I'm sure there's a lot of other fluff I don't need to see. There's lots of behind the Idol scenes shows to watch if that's your bag. The rules are public popularity - I approve 100% - I'm looking for a new entertainer, not just a singer. John Michael Montgomery it a terrible entertainer but a very good singer - bllleeeccch. Give me mediocre singer but an upbeat entertainer any day. If it isn't for viewer enjoyment, you and are certainly disproving that statement. Contrary to your post, i believe your cup is really 1/2 full. AZDAVE In a message dated 4/9/2008 6:29:05 A.M. LOL, yes on the 1/2 full. There is no better way to explain it. But that explains Reality TV as an industry. Give the public what they want and hope they buy it.
