Re: [QUAD-L] Old-timers and newcomers_Checking in

2008-01-07 Thread Quadius
I found the list initially in 97 or 98. I was on the list for a couple of
years and then only lurked for about three or four years. Over the last two
years I have been actively participating and lurking off and on. It used to
be quite a bit to handle when I had it going to my home computer or my yahoo
e-mail address, but once I started using Gmail exclusively for this list, it
became significantly easier for me to look at all of the subjects.

This list has been invaluable to me over the years and is often a crutch
which I lean on heavily.
Thanks everyone.

six months when we were living in temporary quarters at one time around 2000
so it has been 12 1/2 years for me or so. During the last 12 1/2 years I

Re: [QUAD-L] Old-timers and newcomers_Checking in/memory

2008-01-02 Thread Lori Michaelson
It was quite easy to know when I got on this list because it was shortly
after I got on the Internet. In early 1995I did not even know a single
thing about the Internet. Then I signed up but ended up being in the
hospital for two weeks with my shunt surgeries. I remember thinking, lying
there in the hospital, that I had just signed up for the Internet and was
paying for it but could not use it or learn how to use it!

I usually can keep track of things (anything) by where I was or who I was
with at the time something happened or occurred. Or categories. Like I can
remember certain things that were pre-my ex significant other. Or when I
was with him. Or where we lived.

And then after I split up with him and what I was doing in the interim
between breaking up with him and marrying my current husband. And what I
have done and where I have lived since our marriage over the last 10 years.

Kind of like where I was and who I was with when this or that happened.

2008-01-02 Thread DAANOO
I think it sometime after 1993 as that was when I first got the Internet.
One of my aides found the quadlist for me. I remember reading it but I didn't
really post. I was really happy when she found this for me because it made
me feel like there were a lot of other people in my same situation that I
could relate to. I live in a large metropolitan area of Kansas City in a
suburb
in Kansas , but I don't really know hardly any quadriplegics. Shortly after
I got out of the hospital at KU and was through my rehabilitation at Yonkers
in Des Moines Iowa. We had monthly meetings at each other's houses but that
didn't last very long and we did not really keep in contact. There's only
one person that I still hear out through my mother, because his mother is good
friends with one of my mother's friends and he is a great artist. He has a
show every year in a park, but it is always on the day when my best friend,
who is the main person that takes me out, is not off. One year my
sister-in-law take me but we got there when it was over, so I never got to see
any of
his artwork.

I don't really remember when I first started posting. Thank you so much
Jim, for starting this wonderful list and for all the other participants, who
make it what it is today. The wealth of information that everyone provides
makes it a great place to be.

I have
no clue…4 to five years.

Hey...

For those of you who post regularly (as well as those who do not or
just lurk) I was wondering if you all could tell the rest of us how long you
have been on this list?

I found it in the latter part of 1995 and never unsubscribed except for
six months when we were living in temporary quarters at one time around 2000 so
it has been 12 1/2 years for me or so. During the last 12 1/2 years
I have told at least four people about this list because they had not heard of
it. They know who they are. :-)

Anyway, it would be refreshing to see how long y'll all have been
on the list.

Happy new year to you all!

I'm fairly new. I've only been on the list a bit over 3 years.

I have been with this list I think since October 2007. I've mostly just read
what everyone talks about on here and give my two cents when I can. My
injury happened about 20 months ago from a car accident. Right now I am
living with my parents and my two younger brothers.

I've been on the list since 99-2000...I think. Can't remember exactly.
