RE: [QUAD-L] Windows Vista and Voice Recognition System
Just have somebody partition your hard drive and put windows and all your programs on the windows side. When I first got my laptop I was not sure that I would like speech recognition on vista as it was brand new. So I have the option to use windows XP or Vista. I have not used dragon for three years so I dont know if its better than what this is, and I probably do not use some of the programs that you guys do. I do mostly spreadsheets and word processing, and some draw program, and photos, and except for excel which makes me use a word pad, everything seems to work. It sure beats a mouth stick. J I guess ignorance is bliss. Joan C-4 quad 1990 By the way, tomorrows my 70th birthday and get to celebrate it by watching my grandsons playing baseball-which is great-but it is only going to be 46°with 15 mile an hour winds! I think I will lace my coffee heavily with Kahlua. I am still holding onto my dream of a trip to Honduras to go scuba diving. I passed my handicap scuba diving exam a couple of years ago, but have been plagued with a wound that would not heal. Just recently I was diagnosed with MRSA and having great fun with all the new antibiotics. I have been so fortunate not to deal with UT Is, or a serious illness other than a gallbladder operation, that I hate being on the antibiotics. I still have many many things I want to do, so I feel that I had better get started with the plan, because at some point time will run out. Re: [QUAD-L] Windows Vista and Voice Recognition System
I went through this one I got a new computer. Is your system a 64 bit system? If so, NaturallySpeaking won't work on that computer yet. In October they told me they had no idea when they would be able to support a 64-bit system and right now the majority of computers out there have 64-bit systems. If you have a 32 bit system, give me a holler and I might be able to help you out. Windows Vista's voice recognition software does work okay, but it does require a little bit more work to get used to it. I would suggest working within the new documents the voice recognition software works with and then cutting and pasting your text over to the site you're working on. I tried working with the program, but I ended up going out and looking for a computer with 32 bits so that I would be able use NaturallySpeaking. Good luck. RE: [QUAD-L] Windows Vista and Voice Recognition System
I have had Windows Vista and voice recognition for two years now. I do not use AOL, so I cannot answer that question. I use Internet explorer, all the Microsoft office programs, a couple of drawing programs, havent tried Facebook, U-tube works just fine, and I really like being able to say show numbers and then OK to click on a button. I have not used dragon naturallyspeaking since version seven something so I cannot compare. I am extremely pleased, especially with the fact that it learns new words very quickly just by using them. The only glitch appears to be with excel when it brings up a speech box that you have to designate between nine choices. I hope that youll be able to work with it, I really like to be able to open two or three Internet windows and switch between them easily. I usually have three or four applications open at once, and just have to say switch to word and its done. Good luck Joan in Reno where it got to 49° today J
