I tried it John, but unfortunately I was allergic to it and therefore unable
to tell if it was effective.
I am also allergic to silicone, so go figure.

Hi, I use a 24 french supra pubic too my urologist picked it because I had so 
many probelems w/ my catheter before, he said it wouldn't clog as easy, but I 
also use a silicone instead of latex i still get some uti's but not like before 
at all..

I've tried many kinds. The Silicon ones are too stiff and made me sweat. I
use the Silver Coated ones now. They cost more, but my insurance covers
them.

I think they work, it's hard to tell, because I've made many changes at the
same time.

Dan,
  the 24 is bigger so it won't clog as easy and the silicone is better for me 
cause i found i was allergic to the latex, also it seems easier to irrigate 
when you need to, but it is stiffer than the latex one. Ive had less utis since.

  i use a 24fr thats silicone mine still bleeds and hurts some when my 
urologists changes it he's tried everything but alot of the problem is because 
it is healing around the tube, guess i'm to healthy.

Hi Everyone,
I use a #20 Fr.  I had mine done in 2003. Sometines I have a little bleeding 
on cath changing days. Also if it has trauma, mainly pulling then there is a 
little bleeding. I wear a catheter leg strap which holds it in place  keeps it 
from pulling. I have the aides  cleanse around the catheter site  put a dab of 
antibiotic ointment  put a clean dressing.

I use a 16fr, it never has leaked or clogged.

I was told 16fr was standard and changing every 4 weeks was normal, but I
started changing every 2 weeks and it's been working well so doc says to
continue.

Oops! That should've been 18 french! My PCA changes mine every 3 weeks and it 
has clogged only 2 or 3 times since I had it put in in 09/04. It leaks 
occasionally but not enough to require a gauze pad or anything.
