I used it extensively, before shifting to my own (still incomplete)

Back then, Emacs (with ESS) had the monopoly on Linux, and Tinn-R was

And, even more, the Tinn-R docs explain what to do and there's even a

matter.

For manual configuration of such things in R, see (in R) ?Startup

Hello,

I downloaded R(2.15.0) and Tinn-R(2.3.7.1) from

I want to know how to integrate Tinn-R with R(2.15.0).
So far, I was able to find some web-site has step for integration, so I updated
the following steps.

Open the file 'Rprofile.site' and add the following lines to the end of the
file:

 options(IDE = 'C:/Documents and Settings/Username/My
Documents/Tinn-R/bin/Tinn-R.exe')
 options(use.DDE = TRUE)

 library(svIDE)
 library(svSocket)
 library(svIO)
 library(R2HTML)
 guiDDEInstall()

Make the appropriate changes to the first line above so that it points to your
Tinn-R installation directory.

When I start R by clicking, I could see a single R window, and Tinn-R start too.
But it doesn't push code from Tinn-R to R console.
Plus error message for library(svIO) and guiDDEInstall().

Could you help me how to integrate Tinn-R with R?

Sincerely,

WJ

http://sourceforge.net/projects/tinn-r/ for my computer (window 7 OS).

I want to know how to integrate Tinn-R with R(2.15.0).
So far, I was able to find some web-site has step for integration, so I updated
the following steps.

Open the file 'Rprofile.site' and add the following lines to the end of the
file:

options(IDE = 'C:/Documents and Settings/Username/My
Documents/Tinn-R/bin/Tinn-R.exe')
options(use.DDE = TRUE)

library(svIDE)
library(svSocket)
library(svIO)
library(R2HTML)
guiDDEInstall()

Sincerely,

WJ

Re: [R] Tinn R

2012-03-16 Thread Zenonn87
I have got a solution worked for me. Make the follow steps in Administration
mode (in Win7 right click on ikon - Run as administrator), then in Tinn-R:
R - Configurate - Permanaent.
Than delete the # mark from the UK and Brasil repository. Like this:

Run with hand all of the line (not just the the passage quoted above) and it
should be fine.

For me it worked. I read a lot of forum about this problem non of them
worked for me. Tried re-installation, older version, etc. So I thought maybe
the other repositories will be OK, and they were.

Good luck with that.

Windows 7 32 bit
R 2.14.1
Tinn-R 2.3.7.1

*Paul,

I didn't understood your problem with tinn-r.

I don't work at a lab, so i have no idea how it can be your specific
problem. I think it has a problem with R + Win 7 that is about the changes
in the permissions at Program Files folder. What am i doing to cheat this
problem.

1) Install R and Tinn-R at c:/MyProgs
2) Change the security permissions and give all full control to all users in
the machine and apply the new settings.
3) Open Tinn-R and configure the Rprofile.site file. **(R Configure
Permanent) If it necessary you can change some parameters or put some
packages to load by default and you can change the default Cran mirror.
4) Open R inside tinn-r and wait to install all packages

What version of tinn-r and R are you using? I'm using R version 2.13.1
(2011-07-08) in 32bits and 64bits at the same machine with Tinn-R 2.3.7.1

Yep, you have to configure TINN-R when you install a new release of R.
**
In the Option Application R you have an option to use i384 or x64. I
didn't understood the problem of the changes in the R path.

You don't mention which version of windows or R. Setting thus up for
all users on a Windows 7 system has been more trouble for me after R
re-organized their install so that Rterm.exe is no longer in the
path. It is in that subdirectory i386 or such.

My notes say Even if you change the paths, TINN-R will not save what
you do because it always looks at R again and tries to guess the path
when TINN-R starts, and IT ALWAYS GUESSES Wrong. That's why, under the
menu where you set those 2 paths (for rterm and rgui), you also TURN
OFF the option to always use newest R.

And Tinn-R has to be reconfigured whenever R gets updated.

But if y ou have tinn-r working, I don't mean to stop you. The
problem is that a seemingly endless stream of new users can't make it
work. Maybe you post your install recipe on the Tinn-R website, it
 would help people out.

Re: [R] Tinn-R problem: unable to send code to R

2011-08-04 Thread Eik Vettorazzi
Hi Richard,
Have you configured Tinn-R to work with R?
Check your Rprofile.site

#quick configuration check in R
grep(.trPaths,readLines(file.path(R.home(component=etc),Rprofile.site)))0

If that fails, Tinn-R helps you to do all the necessary config steps,
just use the menu
R - Configure - Permanent

More help is near at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/tinn-r/forums/forum/481900
which is the obvious place to look at, since it is a problem with your
editor and not so much related to R itself.

 Hi everyone,
I wonder, if anyone can help me with this annoying issue, although it is
related to Tinn-R and Windows Vista...
 I am running R 2.11.1 and Tinn-R 2.3.5.2 together. I saved 2 R-hotkeys:
ALT+A for sending the whole content of one file and ALT+S for a
 ALT+selection
from one file from Tinn-R to R. Everything works fine with other windows
versions, also with Vista at the beginning of every session, but after a
certain time (not always the same, neither the number of times, that I
used the hotkeys is the same, so it occurs randomly, but quite fast,
lets say on average within half an hour - 2hs) ALT+S does not work
anymore, but instead this hotkey opens the start menue of Vista!! (The
same function the windows key has!) I would be very happy, if anyone has
an idea why this could be!! Is it related to R, to Tinn-R or to Vista?
Thank you very very much in advance!
 Carol

Nice, but I'm still finding the same bug when communicating between R and

 source(.trPaths[5], echo=TRUE, max.deparse.length=150)

So I still have to use the last version of Tinn-R which doesn't have that

Hello,

All you need are explained at Help/Main/User guide/HTML from Tinn-R menu.

Basically:
1. Close R;
2. Menu R/Configure/ Pemanent (Rprofile.site): Tinn-R will generate a
small script inside of the file Rprofile.site (located on the folder
'etc' where R is installed);
3. If there are some prior script (related to old Tinn-R version):
comment or remove it;
4. Reboot R;
5. It is all.

PS: The latest stable version of Tinn-R is 2.3.7.1 available at:

[R] Tinn-R looses connection to R (Windows Vista)

2010-11-17 Thread Agi Richard
Hi everyone,
I wonder, if anyone can help me with this annoying issue, although it is
related to Tinn-R and Windows Vista...
I am running R 2.11.1 and Tinn-R 2.3.5.2 together. I saved 2 R-hotkeys:
ALT+A for sending the whole content of one file and ALT+S for a selection
from one file from Tinn-R to R. Everything works fine with other windows
versions, also with Vista at the beginning of every session, but after a
certain time (not always the same, neither the number of times, that I used
the hotkeys is the same, so it occurs randomly, but quite fast, lets say on
average within half an hour - 2hs) ALT+S does not work anymore, but instead
this hotkey opens the start menue of Vista!! (The same function the windows
key has!)
I would be very happy, if anyone has an idea why this could be!! Is it
related to R, to Tinn-R or to Vista?
Thank you very very much in advance!

[R] Tinn-R and DDE

2010-10-07 Thread Al.x

Hi folks,

I'm trying to get these call-tip things to work in Tinn-R. I expect them
to be somewhat like Microsoft's Intellisense? Anyways, I copy-pasted the
recommended Rprofile.site and adjusted it to fit the location of my
Tinn-R.exe... It looks like this:

##===
## Tinn-R: necessary packages and functions
## Tinn-R: = 2.2.0.2 with TinnR package = 1.0.3
##===
## Set the URL of the preferred repository, below some examples:
options(repos='http://software.rc.fas.harvard.edu/mirrors/R/') # USA
#options(repos='http://cran.ma.imperial.ac.uk/') # UK
#options(repos='http://brieger.esalq.usp.br/CRAN/') # Brazil

library(utils)

## Check necessary packages
necessary - c('TinnR', 'svSocket')
installed - necessary %in% installed.packages()[, 'Package']
if (length(necessary[!installed]) =1)
install.packages(necessary[!installed])

## Load packages
library(TinnR)
library(svSocket)

## Uncoment the two lines below if you want Tinn-R starts always R starts
## (Observation: check the path of Tinn-R.exe)
options(IDE='C:/Programs/Tinn-R/bin/Tinn-R.exe')
trStartIDE()

## Set options
options(use.DDE=T)

## Start DDE
trDDEInstall()

.trPaths - paste(paste(Sys.getenv('APPDATA'), '\\Tinn-R\\tmp\\', sep=''),
c('', 'search.txt', 'objects.txt', 'file.r', 'selection.r', 'block.r',
'lines.r'), sep='')

---
When opening R, Tinn-R opens as expected, so at least that's working
correctly. The help file in Tinn-R now recommends that I try the call-tip
by making a little function in R and then testing it in Tinn-R to see if the
call-tip pops up.

What am I doing wrong? Do I need to assign a hot-key (like ctrl+space in
eclipse) or something?

Cheers,
Alex

Windows 7 makes this directory read-only by default, but Tinn-R
expects to be able to write to it, causing errors. For me, I went to
C:\Users\jthetzel\AppData\Roaming, right-clicked the Tinn-R directory,
and un-checked the 'Read-only' attribute.

2) Run Tinn-R as administrator
I found that if I went back to the ...Roaming\Tinn-R directory later,
Windows had reset the attribute to 'Read-only'. So, far good measure,
I also changed the Tinn-R.exe file under C:\Program Files (x86)\Tinn-R
\bin\ to run as administrator. Browse to the directory, right-click
the Tinn-R.exe file, select properties, click the Compatibility tab,
and check the Run as Administrator box. Having accomplished step 2),
step 1) is probably unnecessary. But I include it here just because
it's what I did, and Tinn-R magically works again.

3) Change OptionsApplicationRRguiType to 'Partial' from 'Whole' in
Tinn-R, via the menu bar
Steps 1) and 2) addressed the problem where Tinn-R would complain
about '.trPaths' when sending code to R. However, I had the
additional problem of Tinn-R refusing to even attempt to send code to
R (the 'R send file' and 'R send selection' icons were dimmed out).
Changing OptionsApplicationRRguiType to 'Partial' from 'Whole' in
Tinn-R, via the menu bar solved this problem. I don't know why.

The following is for anyone having problems with using Tinn-R with the
development R version 2.12.0x64. In the Windows development version I
downloaded, both the 32 and 64 bit R libraries were included.
Subsequently, the folder structure has changed, which Tinn-R does not
recognize by default.

4) Change OptionsApplicationRRterm.exe search path to wherever your
Rterm.exe is located.
For me, it was C:\Program Files\R\R-2.12.0dev\bin\x64\Rterm.exe

5) Change OptionsApplicationRRgui.exe search path to wherever your
Rgui.exe is located.
For me, it was C:\Program Files\R\R-2.12.0dev\bin\x64\Rgui.exe

6) Set 'OptionsApplicationR Use latest installed version (always)'
to 'No' from 'Yes'
If this is not changed, Tinn-R will try to reconfigure itself every
time it is re-opened to use the most recent installed R. Since it is
not familiar with the change in folder structure in the development
version, it will fail.

7) Copy ...R-2.12.0dev\etc\Rprofile.site file to ...R-2.12.0dev\bin
\etc\Rprofile.site
Tinn-R expects the Rprofile.site file to be in the ..\etc folder,
relative to wherever Rgui.exe or Rterm.exe are. However, in the new
folder structure, the etc folder is actually located at ..\..\etc,
relative to Rgui.exe and Rterm.exe. I could not find anywhere to
manually reconfigure the search path for the Rprofile.site file, so I
just created a new etc folder where Tinn-R is expecting it. In my
case, I created C:\Program Files\R\R-2.12.0dev\bin\etc and copied the
Rprofile.site file to it. For comparison, the contents of my
Rprofile.site file appears below. For some reason, every time I re-
start Tinn-R, it appends another copy of the Tinn-R configuration
lines to the Rprofile.site file. However, this behavior has not
caused any problems thus far.

Hi Raphael,
Why won't you try
notepad++ with npptor
?
It does almost everything tinnR does.

I moved to it after not being happy with tinnR lack of support for R in
their newer versions.

Best,

[R] Tinn R - the preferred R term was not defined

2010-08-22 Thread pdb

I have Windows 7 64 bit and 64 bit version of R.

I have installed Tinn R.

Everytime I start R from within Tinn R it gives me the message

The preferred R term was not defined. Do you desire to do this now

I then tell Tinn R where the Rterm.exe and Rgui.exe are.

Rterm works OK - I can open r code files and submit them.
Rgui does not work. R opens but in Tinn R toolbar for submitting code is
disabled.

I then go Rconfigurepermanent and Tinn R writes to my R
etc/Rprofile.site file

When I restart Tinn R and try to start an Rterm or Rgui, I again get
prompted...

The preferred R term was not defined. Do you desire to do this now

This seems to be a repetitive loop.

Can anybody please point me in the right direction.

Cheers.

A possible work around would be to append the selection.r file to the .Rhistory

A few weeks ago all of a sudden the backspace, enter and direction keys
were not working. I updated Tinn-R to the newest version but still no
sollution. After this I tried reinstalling it (prior to that I removed
Tinn-R and deleted all the leftovers manually) and still no change. In
every other execution (e.g. when I save a file) every key works fine.

I've used Tinn-R with R on Win XP ever since I started with R, and I've
never had this problem. The only immediate thing that comes to mind is that
you should be installing R in SDI mode to get it working with Tinn-R. At
least that's what they say, and I've never tried it the other way (MDI).
Maybe just uninstall R and Tinn-R, then reload R, use Custom installation
and pick SDI, then reinstall Tinn-R. Worth a shot.

From what I have read in the other forums I believe this issue is not
necessarily R or Tinn-R related but might be some hidden Windows settings
(I'm using XP) but of this I'm not sure.

If that's the case, I can't help. What occurred a few weeks ago that might
have been related? Did you upgrade R?

Re: [R] Tinn-R

2010-04-26 Thread Joris Meys
Please check the installation guide for Tinn-R. It might be you simply
forgot to configure Tinn-R (RConfigurepermanent). I use it for 2 years
now, and find it a blessing.

Mind that there is a problem sometimes with the connection between Tinn-R
and R, and the problem is Windows-related. If you rightclick any other
window and select minimize, then the connection usually appears again.

You might just want to check the Tinn-R help forum and what the writer of
Tinn-R has to say about this problem :
http://sourceforge.net/projects/tinn-r/forums/forum/481900/topic/3424513?message=8335106

If you still can't get Tinn-R working, use the help forum there. JCFaria
answers all requests.

not free? Or did you mean something else?]

  and Tinn-R
editor as well. Unfortunately they don't cooperate. In Tinn-R
commands: send selection, send line etc. don't work. Do you have any
idea how to resolve this problem?

This is a known () Tinn-R bug, I think. I have found that
pasting

.trPaths - paste(paste(Sys.getenv('APPDATA'),
  '\\Tinn-R\\tmp\\', sep=''),
c('', 'search.txt', 'objects.txt','file.r',
   'selection.r','block.r','lines.r'), sep='')

into Tinn-R makes it work (for that Tinn-R session). There are
instructions somewhere (???) for adding this to your Tinn-R preferences
so that it is executed every time ...

  good luck

[R] Tinn-R RGui Send problem

2010-03-10 Thread Rubén Roa
ComRades,

On a recent Windows XP system that I have to use at work, I installed Tinn-R
2.3.4.4 and R 2.10.1

When I mark-select a piece of code, say

summary(x)

written in Tinn-R and send it to the RGui using the send button, the RGui
console instead of showing me my piece of code, it shows something like

source(.trPaths[5], echo=FALSE, max.deparse.length=150)

The code is executed fine but if I want to re-call it to the console, say to
make a little change, using the Up arrow of the keyboard, I do not receive the
code but again the line quoted above. That's not very useful.

Checking

.TrPaths[5]

shows that Tinn-R is writing a temporary file in ..\\Program
Data\\tmp\selection.r and that file contains my code, and is being overwritten
with every new code that I select and send to the console.

Does anyone know what to do to make the console re-call the selected piece of
code instead of the call to the temporary file? I guess it is a Tinn-R issue

Thanks

the registry etc. Does anyone know of a reason and a fix for this problem?

every other execution (e.g. when I save a file) every key works fine.

I've used Tinn-R with R on Win XP ever since I started with R, and I've
never had this problem. The only immediate thing that comes to mind is
that you should be installing R in SDI mode to get it working with
Tinn-R. At least that's what they say, and I've never tried it the other
way (MDI). Maybe just uninstall R and Tinn-R, then reload R, use Custom
installation and pick SDI, then reinstall Tinn-R. Worth a shot.

From what I have read in the other forums I believe this issue is not
necessarily R or Tinn-R related but might be some hidden Windows
settings (I'm using XP) but of this I'm not sure.

If that's the case, I can't help. What occurred a few weeks ago that
might have been related? Did you upgrade R?

I am using R in the SDI mode.
I can't really recall what happened a few weeks ago. There is too much
going on on my laptop. But yes, I've upgraded R to 2.6.2 but I don't
 remember this causing the problem.

[R] Tinn-R 2.3.0.0 released

2009-07-14 Thread Jose Claudio Faria
We would like to announce that a new version of the Tinn-R for Windows
(2.3.0.0) was released and is available on SourceForge server:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/tinn-r

Tinn-R is a R script editor under the OS Windows.

Changes:
2.3.0.0 (jul/10/2009)
* Bugs fixed:
  - The error message when typing CTRL+TAB inside the Rterm
interface whenever it was not split.
  - It now remembers the position of the Tabs files (top or
botton) when starting.
  - It now properly organizes the Tabs files in relation to
other toolbars whenever the user uses the show/hide option in the
toolbars.
  - The intermittency of completion resources.
  - The Auto completion and Data completion now recognizes
split by a dot as a complete word: for example my.function( and
my.data$.
  - Under Windows Vista the option R/Configure/Permanent
(Rprofile.site now checks if the user has administrative privileges to
change the content of the file Rprofile.site, before to insert the
necessary script. If the user receive a message error, it necessary to
change manually the security properties enabling Full control of the
folder etc where the R is installed.
* The Completion resource migrated to XML, it is more flexible and
easy to use. Now it is located in the the menu Tools/Database.
* R card and R tip are now located in a more conveniente place:
Tool/Database.
* The R tip resource was updated.
* Menu Format/Block was removed and all associated resources were
relocated to a more logic place: Format/selection.
* The User guide was expanded/enhanced in various topics.
* The Application options interface was enhanced.
* A new option in the Application options allows more specific
recognition of Rgui. Now it is possible to avoid any windows caption
with the word Console to be recognized as a R instance.
* The interface Tinn-R hotkeys was fully reworked and it is now
more simple and efficient.
* Parts of the source code were optimized.
* A new resource was added to the R send: Clipboard. It enables
the user to send the content of the clipboard easily to Rterm.
* Sorry, due to bugs the highlighters Deplate and Txt2tags were
removed from the project. We will make new ones in the future.

We think it is a very good and stable version of this program, btw, if
you to notice any bug, please, tell us.

Tinn-R team.

[R] Tinn R

2009-06-08 Thread Karin Martijn
Dear R-users,

I have installed the latest version of Tinn R (Version 2.2.0.2).
With the older versions it was possible to run Tinn R next to R and then select
code that one could send to R.
Now it seems that one has to start the R gui in Tinn R and then it is possible
to select en run code of R.
But if I start R within Tinn R it does NOT start the R-Gui but only the R
console. When I start R without Tinn R it is installed on my computer that it
immediately starts the R-GUI (and the console). Does anyone know what goes
wrong?

Thanks in advance,

When I run Tinn-R I am able to activate the GUI or the Rterm. I am not
quite sure what you mean.

Options - Applications - R - Path normally allows one to set it up so
that you want to work with it the way you describe.
I will try post a screen capture. Alternatively you can post a video
screencapture using Jing from Techsmith which is free.

extension related with latex
2. To change the association file inside of the Windows Operational System.

Re: [R] Tinn-R (Version 2.2.0.2) dose not support R 2.9.0 very well

2009-04-18 Thread Ken-JP

Hi,

I used Tinn-R for a long time, but had real headaches on Vista (commands not
being sent, etc...) that were not resolved since R 2.8 or so.

Since then, I have switched to Eclipse/StatET. The setup requires more
effort, but it is much easier to manage your own packages. With the Eclipse
IDE and StatET functionality, it also becomes much easier to refactor your
code, if you are playing around with more than one or two .R files.

I have also found that with some tinkering, Eclipse/StatET also works on XP
Pro 32, Vista 32, and Ubuntu amd64. Read this thread for more details and
google for the StatET website to download. Having gotten used to StatET, it
would be extremely painful to go without it...

Good luck.

What do you mean with doeas not support very well. I have no problems
with Vista + R 2.9.0 + Tinn-R 2.2.0.2

Try to start Rterm instead of Rgui. This opens the R terminal inside
Tinn-R, causes less problems and has the advantage of a little syntac
highlightning in the terminal. However you have to get used to the error
messages being sent to another window.

Have a look at the Tinn-R sourceforge page. There is an rsite of jose:
http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=886959
manipulate it to for your convienience. there is also a line that
resolves the .trPath problem which is maybe what you stumbled upon.

Cheers
Stefan

PS Notepad++ installs for me but the installation on npptor does not
work for me. Syntax highlightning does not work and commands are not
passed to Rgui neither in sdi mode nor in normal mode.

[R] Tinn-R pdf()

2009-04-08 Thread Henning Wildhagen
Dear R and Tinn-R users,

i recently switched to Tinn-R and sending code to R works fine (R 2.8.1,
Tinn-R 2.2.0.2, OS Windows XP). However, i encountered a problem when
trying to send plots to pdf files like this:

library(lattice)

pdf(plot1.pdf)
PLOT-(xyplot, ...)
PLOT
dev.off()

The file plot1.pdf is created, but it is empty.
If i paste the code above directly into the R console and run it, the file
plot1.pdf is created and in this case contains PLOT.

I guess that some settings in Tinn-R are wrong, but i have no idea which.
Maybe someone has a suggestion?

Thanks,

Henning

Dear Henning,

You need to print() lattice plots when using a device:

library(lattice)

PLOT-(xyplot, ...)
print(PLOT)
dev.off()

So this is not due to TINN-R.

Dear R and Tinn-R users,

i recently switched to Tinn-R and sending code to R works fine (R 2.8.1,

Tinn-R 2.2.0.2, OS Windows XP). However, i encountered a problem when
trying to send plots to pdf files like this:

library(lattice)

pdf(plot1.pdf)
PLOT-(xyplot, ...)
PLOT
dev.off()

The file plot1.pdf is created, but it is empty.
If i paste the code above directly into the R console and run it, the
file
plot1.pdf is created and in this case contains PLOT.

I guess that some settings in Tinn-R are wrong, but i have no idea
which.
Maybe someone has a suggestion?

Thanks,

Henning

At the command line, R objects (including lattice plots which are

This is not the case when you write to a pdf file.

Re: [R] Tinn-R pdf()

2009-04-08 Thread Bert Gunter
I **think** the explanation is:

When sending code to R through TINN-R, TINN-R **sources** the code into R.
Sourced code is **not** autoprinted. Indeed, ?source explicitly tells you
this.

[R] Tinn-R 2.2.0.1 released with a new and complete User Guide

2009-02-06 Thread Jose Claudio Faria
Dears Tinn-R users,

We want to announce that a new version of Tinn-R Gui/Editor (Windows
OS) was released.
It now has a complete User Guide, a old request of the users.

The news of this version are below:
2.2.0.1 (Feb/05/2009)

* Bugs fixed:
 1. Latex font Enphase was fixed. It was inserting \textbf{}
instead of \emph{}.
 2. Save and load workspace is now enabled only if Rterm is running.
 3. A bug associated with the Colors preferences interface
related to Txt2tags and Deplate syntax, not allowing to change the
background color of the root element in the correct way was fixed.
* All prior documentation of the Tinn-R project was updated, some
parts were expanded and others excluded, new ones were generated and,
finally, all were joined in the new User guide. This What is new now
is part of this user guide. The sources files (written in Txt2tags) of
this User guide is available in the folder doc/english/user_guide
where Tinn-R is installed. In this way, we hope that the user will be
able to help us in making it better, day by day, by sending us any
useful contribution.
* The R toolbar can now be docked at left, top, right and bottom
side of the main interface. Some issues related to Rterm and Tools
interface when dragging the R tools bar, have not completely been
solved yet. In order to fix any problem, hide and show again the Rterm
or Tools interface.
* The match brackets resource (default shortcut is CTRL+B) was
added also to the Rterm interface (IO and Log).
* The Tools interface was a bit reworked and the menu Views was
changed to accommodate the changes.
* The menu View and /Help was a bit reworked.
* The sending and controlling R resources were extended to all
instances of the synEdit class. In other words, if you put the cursor
in any word, or select any text in the Editor (split or not), IO or
Log (docked or not, in the same or distinct monitors) interface and,
after this, select an action (print content, plot, etc) it will be
executed.

The installer ans sources of the project are available at SourceForge:
https://sourceforge.net/project/platformdownload.php?group_id=144024sel_platform=10521

All the best,

[R] Tinn-R

2009-01-26 Thread Tibert, Brock
Hi Everyone,

I was hoping someone could help me with the settings for Tinn-R. I see in the
screen shots that it has syntax help, or something similar (tips on what
functions, etc). I can not seem to get this to turn on in the program, and I
am wondering if I have to set up a few options. I quickly read through the
help and could not figure it out.

Many thanks!

- Brock

P.S. It appears as if Tinn-R is widely used, but would you recommend something
different? I am new to R and programming, but have learned (somewhat) using
VBA editors I have grown to love to the intelligent typing that goes along with
it.

First thing you need to do is, save the file with an .r ending. Tinn-R
will then come up with syntax highlighting (as far as i remember).

Options-Main-Application leads you to the r-configuration...

P.S. It appears as if Tinn-R is widely used, but would you recommend something
different? I am new to R and programming, but have learned (somewhat) using
VBA editors I have grown to love to the intelligent typing that goes along with
it.

Hi, I just got a new computer with windows vista on it and I am having a

 get this error:

 Error in source(.trPaths[5], echo = TRUE, max.deparse.length = 150) :
   object .trPaths not found

This has to do with Tinn-R trying to write to etc\Rpforile.site, but you need
administrator rights under Vista to do this. Tinn-R does not report an error
during the install phase when the write is not successful.

Workaround (alternative) :

-- Add the trPaths manually. In my system, it looks like:

.trPaths - paste(paste(Sys.getenv('APPDATA'), '\\Tinn-R\\tmp\\', sep=''),
  c('', 'search.txt', 'objects.txt', 'file.r', 'selection.r', 'block.r',
'lines.r'), sep='')

-- Make the etc directory writable by adding your user account and write
permission.

[R] Tinn-R command line argument to increase memory limits.

2008-10-06 Thread rkevinburton
I searched the FAQ and found that if I set --max-mem-size=512M (or above) on
the command line I can increase the. What I was unable to find in the archives
was how to pass this command line argument when using Tinn-R. I know I have
seen this just recently. Any suggestions?

Thank you.

[R] Tinn-R explorer used to be my friend

2008-10-03 Thread Farrel Buchinsky
I have upgraded everything lately and can no longer get the Tinn-R explorer
to work. I think I have had this problem before but cannot recall how I
solved it.I run Tinn-R 2.0.0.7 and Rgui version 2.7.2

When I click on the explorer button I get
 trObjList(envir='.GlobalEnv', pattern='', group='', path=.trPaths[3])
Error in trObjList(envir = .GlobalEnv, pattern = , group = , path =
.trPaths[3]) :
  unused argument(s) (envir = .GlobalEnv)

I have ensured that the correct profile loads by using (from within Tinn-R)
RConfigurePermanent(Rprofile.site).

Is this a known bug or am I just getting tripped up.

[R] Tinn-R keyboard problem

2008-08-23 Thread Sermin Gungor
The right hand side of my keyboard (Enter, shift, arrows, etc.) just
stopped working only when I am using Tinn-R. It works perfectly fine with
any other application. To check if there was a problem with my keyboard I
connected an external keyboard and the same keys did not work with that
either. Is there anyone who had the same problem before and know the
solution to this problem?

 Thanks,

 Sermin

Re: [R] Tinn-R related problem

2008-03-10 Thread Mario Maiworm
david,
all I can tell you that I am using TINN-R 1.19.4.7 on a win xp prof sp2
machine and it runs just fine. I also use AutoHotkey, a hotkey (key
shortcuts) program which overwrites all program-specific keystrokes. could
it be an issue with keystrokes that are assigned elsewhere?? take a look at
your shortcuts_default.txt file...
Mario.

 Betreff: [R] Tinn-R related problem

 Greetings!

I have an issue with an R editor (namely Tinn-R). A few
weeks ago all of a sudden the backspace, enter and
direction keys were not working. I updated Tinn-R to the
newest version but still no sollution. After this I tried
reinstalling it (prior to that I removed Tinn-R and deleted
all the leftovers manually) and still no change. In every
 other execution (e.g.
when I save a file) every key works fine.
I've been looking up tons of forums about this issue and
have posted questions but haven't found any reasonable
answer. From what I have read in the other forums I believe
this issue is not necessarily R or Tinn-R related but might
be some hidden Windows settings (I'm using XP) but of this
 I'm not sure.
 Any suggestions?

 David
