Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Need a little help setting up alarms
Did you setup any alarms in your local LMS ? For the radio . Alarms are server specific so when conected to LMS it wont sound alarms configured on mysqueezebox.com or while you where on mysqueezebox.com . When you conect back to mysqueezebox.com it can see its alarm settings ... Sync of alarms settings between mysb.com and LMS may bee a bit dodgy or impossible as you favorites list etc may differ. I my opinion dont use alarms with mysb.com instead use LMS . You may also make sure WOL works on your LMS machine then the radio will wale up your server 5 min before the alarm ( if its in sleep or of during the nigth ) Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio acting up
One idea to implement is to have different background pictures for every player it can control . Yes you can change the background picture in every controller state so that you can have different background. Probably a leftover from the controller software . Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] UE Smart battery replacement?
The hardware is practically identical ( may be small generation differences ) , but UE came with battery included with the Squeezebox radio it was an option sold together with an optionsavtal ir remote . The UE thing was a rebranding excercise , with a simpler/different software aproach trying to use the newly acquired UE name too , to sell better . Most user here find the Squeezebox/LMS software more flexible and better in practice . If your concerned about soundquality get a squeezebox Touch and separate speakers ( or complete hifi system ). For a standalone solution the squeezebox Boom sounded way better than radio , but it's getting rather old . Most people coming to this nowadays build there own DIY players with raspi3 or some such , as squeezeboxes I was discontinued long ago . A plugin why not , if you got the skills . The server knows when the player comes alive ( provided it was conected to that server when it got powered down ) . Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Start playing after power up option
From a soft power up ( from standby ) where you have the clock going ( or whatever standby screen saver you have ) . You simply press the play button directly instead of power . And off it goes :) From the real off state after a real power off or when it timed out on battery . The player can't initiate that because it's not running at all in that state . Maybe delve into some scripting on the server to recon if the player have contacted the server and make it initiate a play command ? You could possibly hack the player if know lua , the corner case in both scenarios would be how to handle power outakes or when simply plug in the charger cable , or if the power returns . Also did you know that Radio actually powers up on alarms even if it's really off and then starts to play ,the server is probably involved somehow . Can you use this somehow ? The ticking symptom seems diagnostic to me, and i see a couple of other people describe the same issue: won't power up, is ticking. Since I can't guarantee the shop that part is what will make this work, I suspect they won't follow up at all. I have a bet going locally that I will never hear from that shop, again. Ticking yes it can be something drawing to much power ? there are probably several DC/DC converters on the board to get different voltages . Another clue can be hot components . jimbobvfr400 wrote: I can see how that's annoying but on the other hand how much would you pay for an expert to do this? Let's say its a couple of hours work to diagnose it wouldn't be very long before you're paying far more than a Radio is worth. It's fair enough if you have the spare time but quite difficult for it to make business sense. And that's why they don't even make cheap consumer electronics really serviceable anymoore the small surface mouth boards are one thing . But they probably don't even publish any kind of service manual or schematics ( to much work ) . The Bill of manufacturing for a Radio ( not the price ) is probably a tiny fraction of a work hour in the western world . So during warranty they just replace it and the broken ones goes to recycling . That is a bummer when you have legacy product with no current replacement what to do ? More expensive high end products products are serviceable , but they have a build that looks more like it used to be :) in the old days . My Meridian gear is modular on the inside , several sub boards that can be replaced and power supply module . I used to service industrial electronics large VSD system and stuff , but we exchanged whole circuit boards no soldering except in rare cases with really old stuff . On older products we could the board to our internal repair shop to get them fixed . But on more modern products no one repairs circuit boards it always makes more sense to get a new board , surface mount components and coating etc . And the coast of manufacturing is cheaper than repairing besides the quality standard can not be maintained if one tries to solder such a thing . If even possible to fault trace it's just a bunch if IC's nowadays ? You may need some specialised test equipment programmed to test that particular circuit board . Powers supply circuitry may be possible to follow if you got the skill and inclination , but if one of the smd circuits with like 200 legs on it seems to draw to much power how to be practical about that . So,it would be a hobby project to resurect such things good luck to anyone trying . A think the day of the repairshop is over , you just recycle stuff nowadays . dr1818 wrote: I posted this on the Logitech forum and someone advised that I post this here: Well, I have one radio network in which I need to do some playlist tweaking before the Squeezebox Radio can get a proper URL to play. I have been using a webserver/CGI on a Raspberry Pi on my local network and pointing the favorites (both local and on mysqueezebox.com) to this non-routable IP URL and all is fine. I have a squeezebox server installed on the Raspberry Pi and accessed by the Squeeezebox Radio. (I didn't use squeezebox scripting to get the URL, but a CGI and webserver). Well, now, I want to be able to control my Squeezebox Radio over the Internet (not listen to it over the Internet, mind you) via mysqueezebox.com. That only seems to work if the Squeezebox Radio is connected to mysqueezebox.com. In that case, though, it seems that I can't access my local network URL. So, it seems to be, that the Squeezebox Radio is connected to the local server, it can access local URLs, even if the Favorite is on mysqueezebox.com , but if the Squeezebox Radio is connected to mysqueezebox.com it can not access local URLs. I'm thinking that I could put my Raspi in the DMZ, but that's scary security wise. I have a 4G data card, but that still opens up the server to hacking, even if it doesn't also have access to the rest of my local network. It'll also eat up data usage. It seems that I could script what I need inside the Squeezebox Radio itself, but is there any way the Squeezebox Radio could access a local file from a Favorite (which this script would create), if it's connected to mysqueezebox.com? Is the only other alternative to get access to a webserver with CGI/scripting support on the Internet? Is there another way to remote control the Squeezebox Radio from the Internet, without opening up all sorts of security issues? It's interesting that the Remote Control screen doesn't give volume, but the Alarm screen, which can also be set remotely, does. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Play Youtube video soundtrack with SBR?
buffettck wrote: I'll bet! This looks like it opens up a whole new world. I was afraid to try it before because using LMS with the mysqueezebox server seemed very touchy and when people switched to one or the other, the previous server quit working. Anyway, I completely closed down the LMS GUI and the LMS program running locally on my computer and was able to switch back and from playing the Youtube videos and my pre-programmed radio stations. I think nothing was happening before because I didn't switch to my desktop on the SBR itself. Once I did that, the Youtube video picture popped up on the SBR screen and started playing. You can dig a bit in the radio menus and put the switch to mysqueezebox.com setting at the main menu I think . And if you choose my music on the Radio it will try to find your local LMS, if it's running it switches to it . I reckon you realised that if you give LMS your mysqueezebox.com login it routes all radio and apps trough so you only have to use mysqueezebox.com while the PC is off . Thats how many off us uses it ,having a lot of local files uses radio occasionally but have a server/NAS/PC that is on all the time anyway . But it's probaly so that most Radio users dont have a server , just using it as a radio its very good at that too . The music collector , audiophile etc listener usually have a Touch or something connected to the hifi . buffettck wrote: I actually had done this already. Very convenient. It did pull all my radio station favorites over to LMS. I just had to reprogram the six preset buttons, which was no big deal. Thanks again for all the help! :) That is bit confusing , but some settings are server specific you can actually have different presets on your local server and mysqueezebox.com , it's actually the server that knows what's under each button . If you use it as an alarm clock make sure it's connected to where your alarms at , local or at mysqueezebox.com . Before you go to bed . Otherwise it might not find the server and you get the backup tune :) instead . However if the PC is configured for WOL ( wake on LAN ) radio can boot the server and play your own music as alarm . Admittedly the alarm functions are not radios greatest asset , it can go wrong quite often . There's no real API we're using, but some cron job should be updating the data regularly. Unfortunately it seems this job never was/is run... I now kicked it off manually - just to realise why it might have been removed from cron at some point: it takes hours to finish. It might even take more than a day. I'll let you know when it's done. -- Michael Ok that explains a lot , if this is unfeasable in the long run just let us know about it . I used to on rare occasions listen to some live shows, but it's not used very often at all . If we have any deadheads on the fora they may once again enjoy 1000 versions of the same song :) LMA has a lot of gratefull dead shows for some reason ? garym wrote: agree with posting this over there. and I wish this worked too. I like the LMA source. But as far as I can remember, the LMA app *never* showed all the many sources at LMA (or any easy way to distinguish, for example, which of the 17 versions of a Grateful Dead show I wanted to listen to. So it was never actually a fully functioning app. But would be nice to have back in some form. Now it's rather fully dysfunctional since a very very long time , and swept under the rug . No attention . Maybe some kind of triage is needed . Restore the app or simple kill it for good ? It may be unsupportable for any kind of reason we don't know about ? Horrible ever shifting API . legal reasons LMA itself ? Is this app even allowed to be there ? With limited resources ? Whats the priorities . It's not a very well known or used app but that's mostly because it has not worked fully for about 3 years and not very good while it was there . I think a functional LMA app would be more apriciated ,but if that's not possible . Let's not have it teasing us as an aviable app . Bw does it work in UE ? I have it setup on 3 of my 7 players now. I now have 2 black radios, 3 white radios, and 2 UE Radios converted. Thats a whole lot of radios :) he he and the baby finds them all , enjoy . Sometimes it takes imagination , IMO it's one of the charming aspect with this system . It's not purely developed by professionals and the hobby devs do not always follow protocoll . Functions and settings can pop,up anywhere . But I do find it logical that it is in the player settings but a bit weird that you just can't set a level 0-100% :) Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub.
