[RBW] FS: new white industries cranks

2017-02-23 Thread Mark Reimer
Hi everyone,

I have a pair of brand new, never used White Industries crank arms for
sale. They are the 'road' version, in silver, square taper and 172.5mm
long. I've had them sitting in my parts box for over a year for a project I
now realize will never happen. Included will be the lock ring for the chain
ring. These are awesome cranks, I have them on three other bikes!

I believe these are around $215 USD new. So how about 30 bucks off, $185
USD plus shipping?

These have never been mounted to a bottom bracket and are in brand new
condition.

I'm running the same cranks on my Atlantis with a 44/26 chain ring combo,
on a Phil 119mm BB. It's a great combo and works flawlessly.

Re: [RBW] Re: Tires for HHH tandem

2017-02-23 Thread René Sterental
I asked them about paved and dirt trails, but didn't specifically mention
gnarly rutted/rocky trails. But I believe that with this in mind, they
recommended the standard sidewall instead of the ultralight.

Michael makes a good point about the diminishing returns, which I believe
would also apply, for the HHH, on the sidewall thickness. Still, at this
time I'm not planning any gnarly rides, so we'll see what happens as I ride
them.

[RBW] FS: fillet-brazed 650B triple triangle F/F/HS/Fenders/Racks

2017-02-23 Thread S. Greco

The projects are backing up and so I am regretfully listing this for sale.
This is a Jo Routens inspired fillet-brazed 650b road/adventure bike built
by Pedimoto.
The frame and fork were custom built around 2014 - i don't know what the
tubing is but this thing is surprisingly lightweight.
There is plenty of clearance for bigger tires but looks and rides great
with 42 hetres.
The fenders are VO Zeppelins. Rear rack is VO. Front rack is custom.
Really beautiful detailing on the hellenic stays. The top tube has internal
brake routing.
Old-school campy style cable routing on top of the bottom bracket.
Braze on for rear taillight. Taillight is custom made by me : )
Custom engraved headbadge. Very subtle downtube decal.
I would like to sell this as a Frame / Fork / Headset / Fenders / Racks /
Taillight package.
$1600 . . . open to offers. Happy to take more detailed pictures if anyone
is interested.

ST 61cm CTC
TT 58cm CTC
HT 20cm

I have some bottom bracket / crank options and stem / handlebar options if
anyone is interested.

Re: [RBW] Re: Tires for HHH tandem

2017-02-23 Thread Michael Hechmer
All improvements are governed by the law of diminishing returns. Going
from 28 mm tires to 38 mm tires yields a big improvement on comfort; from
38 to 48mm offers offers less but still noticeable improvement in comfort
without any noticeable loss in rolling. Going from 48 to 58 will yield
little improvement in comfort while complicating other things, like frame
design, brake choice & fender selection. My tandem rode very comfortably
on 1.5 tires for 5 years. Last year I went with 1.8 (which also required
new brakes) and liked the improvement, but it was not huge, even with
450lbs of weight on them. I have ridden a single on the C very
comfortably on 38 mm tires.

[RBW] Mend and make do

2017-02-23 Thread 'Stephen Kemp' via RBW Owners Bunch

I just greased and adjusted the bearings in my left pedal (I was going to
say left-hand pedal but the pedants among you already have enough to go on)
and now it feels mighty fine.

It had got a bit tight and was trying to turn under my foot as I pedalled.
I had that feeling I guess a lot of us have when things start to misbehave:
this could be an opportunity to purchase something nice… They’re cheapish
BMX pedals I took off a bike that came to me used. I’ve serviced them a
number of times. I’ve had good use out of them. I’d be perfectly justified
in getting a pair of RMX pedals or maybe some plastic BMX pedals in a funky
colour. But hang on, I have had these pedals for years. There’s nothing
really wrong with them that a quick service wouldn't fix. 15 mins later and
it’s sorted. The bike feels smooth and all is well again.

A simple solution and a simple pleasure.

There've been zero problems using a White Ind Dos Eno (dual) 16/19 cog (not
