[RBW] Re: WTB 60 cm Sam
Nick-Ive got a 60 Sam frame, with wheels, tires, side pull brakes, bars and misc other parts that I did not use for a build of an Atlantis. Not sure what you need, other than the frame. It is a double top tube, in the light blue color. I can get some good pictures of how it sits tonight when I get home. Not sure what they are retailing for but suspect I will likely ask $1200 or so plus shipping for the frame, fork and BB. Let me know if you are interested, and what parts you would like if any. Thanks. On Sunday, April 16, 2023 at 7:38:55 PM UTC-4 nickm...@me.com wrote: > Hi All! Good morning everyone, curious about adding a second Rivendell. I currently have a Bombadil, and would like something a little more sporty for my daily fitness rides. I am larger than most, 6 3, 280 and am looking at a Sam and an Appaloosa. I wont ride fast at this size, but get a good 12-15 mile ride in every day. [RBW] Re: Eat Bacon Don't Jog--Goal set, goal met
Lum-speaking solely for myself, and I am not a doctor, variety remains the spice of life. I used low carb/ sugar and most importantly portion control to lose the weight. I still stay low carb for most meals but I do not deny myself anything in moderation and infrequently. For instance I quit drinking beer like I used to, instead of 10 or so a week I have one when I want one, not because I am socially being pushed to drink. Same w a coke, instead of daily it’s infrequent but tastes so good! Same w food, it is about choice and frequency and dietary changes. According to the nutritionist that got me straightened out I was eating 6000 to 8000 calories a day on a typical day and am now under 3000 most days by making different choices and retraining, it does get sorted out over time and you get into the groove, -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Re: [RBW] Re: Eat Bacon Don't Jog--Goal set, goal met
Lum-speaking only for myself here. If I overdo and go out of ketosis I dry out from the meal and put myself back in within a few days. I have tried cheat days throwing in burgers fries coke for lunch once a week, without any weirdness to my glucose readings which is one of those data points that I check to see how I am reacting to food . I have found that I process foods better eating smaller more vegan portions w clean proteins, but the weight loss is likely more responsible for that kick start w good choice not diet keeping it going. Re: [RBW] Re: Eat Bacon Don't Jog--Goal set, goal met
First Bill congrats. Second thank you for pointing me to the Sam for my go fast build, it’s in its way I took the paleo/EBDJ to heart a little over a year ago. I was type 2 diabetic w A1C of almost 9. Did t even know I was a mess. Cholesterol of 234. Went off carbs sugar processed food and junk cold turkey. Over the first month the numbers dropped from 234 to 135, A1C to below 5, BP was normal wo meds. Total weight loss is about 160 pounds to date, a year later. I resisted the scale but needed to realize how fat I was, and use it to monitor status but Deacon speaks some truth, I now use body feel and clothes to keep moving. I went from a 54 pant to a 46, 3xl to 1xl, but I know when I have overdone it by energy, lethargy and “feel” now. I am dead when I binge on carbs, pizza bread etc and a year later just can’t tolerate the bloating. It comes w time and, like any drug is eventually beatable, you flip, get back up, work out harder, dry out and move forward. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. As always thank you for your time and thoughtful responses. I seem to have missed the obvious option, again... which was to try smaller tires on the Riv. [RBW] Riv selection question
I appreciate everyone's help earlier this month solving the elusive n-1 equation. As mentioned I currently have a Bombadil for around town path and related usage. Not as it was designed as I have the Jones for that heavier duty riding as a mountain/ trail bike. The responses got me thinking that I was using the wrong tool for the job, as a "daily rider." This brings me to the crux of my question- what is the better Rivendell for a large person (280) as a road bike/trainer, etc? Several folks mentioned the Homer and Sam, but would they work as a daily driver that is sportier, lighter than the Bombadil? And would a bigger person crush them, which is why Grant suggested the Bombadil. Finally I presume that the heavy duty Velocity wheels would switch over should I move or add another Riv. In closing thank you for the help advice and direction. It is a good forum, and you all treat each other well which is to be commended in the din of the online world. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Re: [RBW] Re: FS: 60cm Sam Hillborne - Green, Double TT
Jon need to check my PBH. Just noticed the geometry chart, got so wrapped up in the bike that I forgot to compare! I'm currently riding a 60cm Bombadil and it fits. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] N minus 2 plus 1
Good evening, my name is Dave and I have a problem, which it appears that many others here do as well! I am reviewing my stable and find that I have ended up building four of essentially the same bike.first, a Gen 1 Fargo, fits great, with dirt drops, and spare wheel set with knobbies, the second, the freak bike, and XL troll with heavy duty DH wheels, Velo Orange Daija bars, front shock, Chris King, and related component builds, a jones bike 29 plus and a big 60 cm bombadil built up with racks, Velo orange porteau bars and related components.the bombadil and the fargo are my primary road rides, primary on the Erie Canal and similar paved/dirt trails in the area (upstate NY). The Jones is used as an off road, and snow bike fitted with a fat front and the Troll was built up with spare parts to use for CX. Unfortunately, when I built them I was about 150 pounds larger than I am nowwhich brings me to my question and need for guidance. I am going to sell the Troll (-1) plus or minus the Bombadil or Jones (-2) and am considering replacing with a Homer or Sam.my thoughts is that that would be a more road/paved fun bike f or longer riders, or Random type rides now that I am much smaller. The overlap that I see is that the Fargo and Bombadil would likely fit the same niche, but are not as sporty. So, my question is, is there that much of a ride difference from the Bombadil into a more country and road type Riv? I know that many of you have multiple Riv's, and use them in many different ways...but the overlap in the fleet seems to beg the consideration. Appreciate any input, this has been a great board to learn from and you all got me into the Bombadil. And if anyone is interested in the XL Troll, let me know! it will need a good home! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Re: FS: Sam Hillborne 62cm Black and Cream
Good evening Scott, interested in the Sam. Curious what your inseam/PBH is? I currently am riding a 60 Bombadil and am a little worried that this may be too big. Thanks!
