Matt, that is exactly what I did with my Sam Hilborne. I got the seat right (height) then carried a wrench with me and adjusted the handlebar height. Then, seat fore and aft and finally rechecked the seat height. It took a few days of tweeking but the ride is very nice now and I at 60 wake up eacvh morning with a few aches and pains to start with. Hard to explain but we take 5 dogs and luggage including astronomy gear. I just prefer to have a second bike and not carry one back and forth. Perhaps just an excuse. I agree Pete. I am also an amateur astronomer and mirror and lens makers stopped telling the buyer the actual wavelength coreection of their products because even though you could see no difference, people were reselling mirrors with better "numbers" for more money. And, that pissed the mirror makers off. So, insted of providing the "numbers" with each mirror they now guarantee at least X wavelength correction. Sometimes we get all caught up in numbers that in reality have no meaning. Rivendell bicycles are special for many reasons. Grant is Not a frame maker. He is a designer. Over many years of trial and error maybe even with a bit of luck or, better yet, magic, he came upon a design that really works and works wonderfully. Then, he searched to find the best frame makers to follow his design to the smallest nitpicking point. Yes, color primarily :^) Luckily the Hillborne only comes in one standard color now. After seeing Velouria's Sam on her blog "Lovely Bicycles" I knew I wanted one. The Roadeo does seem to be different in that it is primarily made for speed and, who can resist a Homer? Gorgeous blue!
