What a beauty! Congrats to the buyer. I would have been very tempted had I
seen this an hour ago.

To whoever bought this, if you don't fancy that crankset, I'd be interested
in buying it. (I know, I know, it's a long shot.)

SOLD! I had all that information in the original post but it kept telling
me my message was too long until I cut it to the amount you saw. I
probably had a dozen pictures too! Alas, it sold in about 10 minutes.
I'll soon be listing a 63cm A Homer Hilsen and will attempt to provide more
info again and hope it allows me a lengthier message than this one did.

Two quick points -

Please let's keep this post on topic. It is a for sale post for a specific
bike, not a general Rambouillet thread (which I'd love to see discussed - I
removed several posts here which deserved a separate thread topic.)

Green frame would likely have been ~2007-2009 - that was the last color

2021-07-07 Thread Bruce Herbitter
The green was my favorite color, but only the blue was made in the smaller
sizes I need. I still have my first year Riv Road. (The Road has a level TT,
the Road Standard has an upslope TT.). It is a wonderful bike and gets most of
the miles. I converted it to 650B so I can get 38 mm tires in. It is quicker
handling than the Ram is and I truly enjoy whichever one I am on. Congrats on
your acquisition. I know whoever gets the green Ram in this original thread
is going to love it too.

2021-07-07 Thread David Hallerman
Reading posts kvelling over the Rambouillet delights me for a special new
reason - I’m the very lucky guy who bought the NOS 56cm Ram frameset that
Gerard Gunhouse sold here less than a fortnight ago.

As someone who owned an original Waterford-built Riv Road Standard, bought
during the company’s first year, and regrets selling it a few years ago,
this new and perhaps better chance (fatter tires are better) at Riv
All-Roadism - in perfect emerald green no less! - is a source of unexpected
joy.

I’ll post some photos as the build goes along. And thanks again Gunner,
you’ve been a great gentleman across the whole process of my buying your
absurdly well-packed and well-preserved backup Rambouillet. Did I mention
the bike is GREEN?

Dave, who is intent on beaucoup beausage for his new Ram to counter a core
reason he sold his original Riv Road which had to do with some kind of
preservation but hey you know life is short

Green frame would likely have been ~2007-2009 - that was the last color
option.

[RBW] Re: FS - Rivendell Rambouillet

2021-07-07 Thread ascpgh
Thanks Jim for posting this. Not a better way to address all interests.
I'll pile on with my support of this model being someone's very special
entry to the Rivendell ride. My Rambouillet has been utterly brilliant and
anyone in that size range and somewhat interested would be well served by
this one.

[RBW] Re: FS - Rivendell Rambouillet

2021-07-07 Thread Fullylugged

Green was the color for the 3rd and final run. Prospective buyers might
ask the seller where the lengths of tubes given are measured from. RBW uses
center to top for set tubes. If correct, this is a 56 cm. Standover of
80.8 cm (from the RBW geometry chart.).

As a prior posted said, this may be the best of the production Rivendells,
combining pretty lugs and quality fillet brazing, fine quality tubing, a
road worthy design that is still comfortable and excellent neutral
handling. With over 16,000 miles on mine I admit to possible bias. :)

Someone will enjoy this bikee.

2015-03-09 Thread Patrick Moore
Specs for the Ram can be found here:

http://www.cyclofiend.com/rbw/geometry.html

Also, I have 2 slightly modified but fully functional Banjo Brothers Market
Panniers that I no longer need and that I will include with the bike. They
fit the Fly rack very well.

On Sun, Mar 8, 2015 at 3:30 PM, Patrick Moore bertin...@gmail.com wrote:

I am the 3d owner of the frame, and I'll document the little dents and
nicks -- overall it's quite good.

After reviewing 4 Ram-for-sale posts from the last few months, I think
it's reasonable to ask $1,400. But since the drivetrain is idiosyncratic, I
can sell sans crankset and take of what a bit of research tells me that I
could reasonably expect from selling the 7410 crank, 52/38 rings, and 103
 mm Phil bb.

I can substitute a TA Pro 5 Vis with 44/30 rings and a 8-sp-era XT rd, but
I don't have the 115 or so bb for this drivetrain.

 52/38 + 16-26 9 speed. I *can* customize the cassette, but I never pay
attention to cog series or ramp alignment.

The tt has 3 slight dents that I find hard to photograph; let's say that
you can sense them by touch but it's hard to see them, at least for my
 caratact-corrected eyes.

The right chainstay just aft of the bb shell has been scuffed and touched
 up.

Photo attached; additional photos available upon request.

 Build:

 Wheels:
Open Pro, SP V8 front, Ultegra 9 sp rear, 32 X DB stainless steel spokes.
Challenge Parigi Roubaix Tires -- much life left, but front and rear each
have a small cut at right angles to the tread; don't go to casing and
 filled with Shoe Goo.
Tubes filled with Stan's -- make these delicate tires viable in goathead
 country without affecting ride.
Allen key skewers, tho' I may swap the QRs back in

Crankset: Dura Ace 7410, 52/38 Sugino rings
 BB: 103 mm Phil, steel

Pedals: almost new Shimano M540s or pair of older Look Keo Pluses, no
 cleats.

Cassette: it's a home brew 16-26 9 speed but I can change that. Note that
any cassette will be home-built. 88 to 39.

Derailleurs: Dura Ace 7400. I gouged the rear slightly with a Dremel and
polished the damage so that it doesn't look bad. Will photograph.

KMC (I think) 9 sp chain

 Shifters: Silver down tube

 Seatpost: Nitto Jaguar

Saddle: Original edition Flite or none, price accordingly.

 Stem: Nitto I-Beam, 9 cm

 Bar: Noodle, 42 cm

 Headset: Ultegra

 Brake levers: Shimano Aero

Brakes: Shimano normal reach dual pivot

 Brass bell

 Cyo N headlamp

 Tubus Fly rear rack

 Toplight rack mount rear light

 2X Iris bottle cages

Unmounted, still in package pair of 40 mm SKS Longboards, grey

Second pair of Challenge Parigi Roubaix, bought from friend with only 100
 miles or so on them.

 Various spare tubes

Those are the most romantic sales photos I have ever seen! Very nicely
done, and agreed a drop dead beautiful bike.

Re: [RBW] Re: FS: Rivendell Rambouillet

2014-11-20 Thread bingomck
Hi all, I've gotten a few sizing questions. Normally I could answer
quickly! But unfortunately bike is with the mechanic in Keene, NH while I'm
in the Bay Area. I can call him to do measurements if necessary, but I'll
also ask if anyone in the group with a 56 Ram could take a measurement or
two and confirm?

The center of bottom bracket to top of seat tube measurement is ~56.5cm.
From my research online, that means this is a 56 Ram. This is the geo chart
from RIv for that size.

*Size*

*Seat Angle*

*Head Angle*

*Fork Rake*

*Top Tube*

*Chain Stay*

*BB Drop*

*Stand Over*

*56*

*72.0*

*72.5*

*4.5*

*55.5*

*43.5*

*7.7*

*80.8*

I'm not sure what the 80.8 stand over refers to (what size tires). Maybe
someone with 28s can measure?

Also, I'm sorry to say I'm not interested in a trade and am only selling
complete.

Here's a link to the pictures
again: https://www.flickr.com/photos/88267393@N02/sets/72157649103109202/

This was pre Tektro brakes, pre-tune up (obviously as you can tell from the
lack of brakes and loose cables!).

Hope this helps! Thanks all. The price is $950 + sp.

And of course the price includes the Ram!

For sale: orange *Rivendell Rambouillet*, size 56.

Pictures are here (too big to post here, sorry):
 https://www.flickr.com/photos/88267393@N02/sets/72157649103109202/

There is a long story behind this sale, but the too long; didn’t read
abridged version: I bought this bike locally, never really rode it, had a 2
nd baby, sold the bike, turned out to be the wrong size post-sale, and
bought it back to make right as a result. Now it’s for sale again. In the
meantime, the bike’s componentry and working condition has been
significantly improved from my original purchase, and it is 100% tuned and
ready to ride. The bike is currently located in New Hampshire with a
mechanic who has meticulously fixed it up.

It was advertised to me as a size 60 Ram—my first mistake was never
confirming this. The actual center of BB to top of seat tube is just about
56cm, so this appears to be a size 56 Ram.

 *Size*

 *Seat Angle*

 *Head Angle*

 *Fork Rake*

 *Top Tube*

 *Chain Stay*

 *BB Drop*

 *Stand Over*

 *56*

 *72.0*

 *72.5*

 *4.5*

 *55.5*

 *43.5*

 *7.7*

 *80.8*

 Two issues, up front:

 · the prior owner thought that the paint on the top tube was too
chipped (“beausage”) and decided to re-paint it orange himself; the top
tube orange is a little darker than the rest of the frame. The new paint is
pretty good, and the rest of the frame is pretty clean.

 · The bars are 25.4 while I think the stem is 26.0, so a Nitto
 shim (http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/hb91.htm) is installed. Works
 great.

To the good stuff: the bike is 9 speed, with: Ritchey 110bcd black compact
cranks (brand new BB), Dura Ace 7700 shifters, new Tektro bigmouth brakes
bought from Riv (works with this 700c setup and should work for a 650b
conversion (not sure, but SHOULD), Ultegra-level (just re-packed) headset,
new 12-27 cassette, new chain, light road wheels, 25mm tires, some nice
pedals. Comes with the Specialized saddle and 27.2 post as well.

But most importantly, the Rambouillet. *I'm asking $1,300*. Given that a
comparable Roadeo or AHH goes for quite a bit more frame/fork only, I think
we all know this is a good deal, especially now that the bike is tuned and
 riding great. *Actual packing + shipping from New Hampshire is extra*;
I’ve talked with the mechanic who has the bike, and he will pack the back
and facilitate the pickup with the purchaser from their delivery service of
 choice.

Thanks all! Happy to discuss any questions.

To elaborate on this: I love mine because it is an ideal bike for fun
riding unladen but one that takes 40 lb in the rear (stiff rack) without
undue complaint. This is the particular niche that it fills in my stable.
Much more fun running errands on it than it was on the Fargo (with 35 mm
Kojaks), tho' the Fargo has its own very well fitting niche.

I'd love a Ram that could take 60 mm tires.

Hi Chris --

I think it's absolutely crazy that your bike hasn't sold yet. I would get
it in a heartbeat, but am actually just building up a 47cm Saluki frame for
myself; I'm around 5'3, and besides not needing another bike (will shortly
be getting rid of the 48cm Hillborne frame that was always ridiculously
large for me and pretty much never got ridden), know that 50cm would be too
large.

Just out of curiosity, though, what's the top-tube length? I may know
someone that it could fit and may be interested...

Best,

Liz

[RBW] Re: FS: Rivendell Rambouillet 50cm

2013-09-02 Thread Christopher Murray
Hello,

Quite a few nibbles but no bites. Lowering the price to $1600 shipped. If there
are no takers it will either go to the 'bay or hang it from the rafters. A few
questions so I thought I would post some more info. The bike belongs to my
wife. She is 5'3 and the bike fits her well. It is stock as it came from
Rivendell. There are interrupter levers. The bike is 9 speed. The complete spec
can be found on the link I posted above. The geometry, stand over height, PBH,
etc can be found at the link below. The tires are the ones that came on the
bike, Panaracer Paselas 26x1.25. The largest size the bike will take according
to Rivendell is 26x1.3 but others have reported here running 1.5s. I can
include the pedals- MKS Touring- and the stainless steel water bote cages for
free if you need them. The saddle on there is a Womens Fizik Rondine which I
can also include free if needed. $1600 professionally boxed and shipped- which
is just crazy for a basically new Toyo built Nitto/ Ultegra spec'd Rivendell.
Anyone local who would like to come by and see it you are more than welcome. I
am in Bismarck, ND.

http://cyclofiend.com/rbw/rambouillet/rambflyer/17.html

Any questions please let me know.

Cheers!
Chris

The complete spec can be found on the link I posted above. The geometry,

the ones that came on the bike, Panaracer Paselas 26x1.25. The largest size
the bike will take according to Rivendell is 26x1.3 but others have
reported here running 1.5s. I can include the pedals- MKS Touring- and the
stainless steel water bote cages for free if you need them. The saddle on
there is a Womens Fizik Rondine which I can also include free if needed.
$1600 professionally boxed and shipped- which is just crazy for a basically

2013-09-02 Thread Bruce Herbitter
Chris: The Pasela 1 1/4 is 32 mm. The max size w/o fenders per RBW is 37mm
which in a Pasela is 1 1/2. My 52 cm Ram runs on these 1 1/2 Paselas.
Kenda calls its 40 mm tire a 1 1/2 also. I just got a lightly used pair
for $10 and intend to see if they'll go on. Depends on what the actual size
is after inflation. The fork has more clearance than the brake bridge does.
I am sure 38mm will fit, though I know of none made for a 559 wheel size.

Hello LeahFoy!

North Dakota is a great place! We have been here about 2.5 years. We moved from
Tucson- another great place. Things here are changing very quickly (I am sure
you know if you still have family here). There seems to be more and more
cyclists on the road here and I have seen TWO Rivendells- besides the three we
have. There are a lot of bike lanes here and some good riding. If you are ever
in Bis and looking to ride, let me know.

Enjoy Vegas!

I need to sell this to fund a new project- a baby!!! I have done some

IMO). How about $1750 or BO shipped CONUS. I will have it professionally
packed and shipped. Any questions please let me know. I am in Bismarck,

2013-08-24 Thread Patrick Moore
I'd say that $1,750 for a baby is a pretty good deal. I've got one myself
(tho' she turned 12 recently, much to my surprise) and she is definitely
worth it, tho' annoying at times.

Since professional packing and shipping will run $150 or so, I'd say $1,600
is a great deal for a great bike. I love mine -- third owner, turned 8
months old (my ownership) this month. Mine fills a peculiar niche role as
my sole derailleur road bike (I have two Riv road fixed customs and a
Fargo) for longer rides as well as grocery and other errand runs.

What is the build?

Get that saddle tilted right!!!

Re: [RBW] Re: FS: Rivendell Rambouillet 50cm

2013-08-24 Thread Christopher Murray
Thanks Patrick. The bike is stock as it came from Rivendell- a mix of nitto and
higer end shimano(ultegra mostly). This bike has 26 inch wheels like small
bikes should IMO. The saddle was put on quickly for a short ride and that was
it- it wasn't ridden again. Grad school, baby, work, and another new baby on
the way changed priorities pretty quickly. There is no way this bike has 30
miles on it and has always been stored in my heated garage. I hope someone buys
it, rides it like crazy, and gives it the love it deserves.

I figure $150 for shipping boxing and $1600 for the bike. I think this is a
great deal especially considering I know it's history and condition. Calling
this bike used is a stretch.

More info on the Ram:

[RBW] Re: fs: Rivendell Rambouillet 58cm frameset - orange - pristine condition!

2013-06-21 Thread allenmichael
Eric,
I am super interested. I have desired an Orange Riv for a long time. I
don't have any of the suggested trades but $1100 seems very fair for the
bike and condition. Where are you located? I am in SF. I would need to sell
my S1, but I could come up with the money first and then make it up with
the sale of the S1.

Pristine condition Rivendell Rambouillet...comes with original box! I'm
not sure who'd get excited about the original box but I'm sure there's a
few folks. I purchased this early '12 (or late '11) via CL and it's in
amazing condition! The prior owner stated a few hundred miles it shows! I
never built it up but kept it safely tucked away. Apart from the protective
clear stickers on the headtube bike shop decal on downtube (both of which
can be removed w/ no problem) it's next to mint. Anyways, they don't make
'em like this anymore. Frame, fork headset (I believe Tange Levin?).

$1100 or trade for a dark blue (or custom color) 59cm Rivendell A. Homer
Hilsen w/ three water bottle mounts.
