Orange was the 1st run of Toyo made frames. Somewhat less than 1200 total were made in all 3 colors over the model run and the serial # on the underside of the BB shell will give you some idea of where in the sequence yours was. Yours has nice lugs. Later lugs were simpler. The Logic cranks are desireable. I'd say $1,400 would be a great price to get that bike at. All Rams have a slightly sloped TT and heat treated DT and CS. ST, TT and ST are not heat treated. Mine is the second run of French Blue and is #841. I bought it new and am closing in on 15,000 happy miles. It needs a new paint job, due to the dings and nicks of normal wear, but is still a sound riding bike. It's currently set up as a city bike and gets a lot of Sunday social ride use, as well as after dinner easy neighborhood rambles. With Pasela 1 1/2" tires, it's smooth, and can still easily cruise along in a paceline, if that is what I want to do. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. My Ram is same color. I think the year is 2003-2004. I don't recall exactly. This looks like a solid build and the 1000-1500 range seems about right. (Although it would take more than that for me to let go of mine) These are japan made, and the color is beautiful. [RBW] Re: Rambouillet purchase
I agree with the other comments. I think the Rambouillet is a tremendous value these days, because it is not as fashionable, with their caliper brakes and level top tubes. Riv seems to have evolved in their design away from this look. But they can fit pretty wide tires (35-ish) and handle beautifully. And made by Toyo, which is a top notch framemaker. And it looks very clean and well-taken-care-of. I'd say $1000 is a steal, $1250 is a fair deal, and even at $1500 well worth it if you like everything on it. The Ritchey cranks are low-Q and very nice. Those Ultegra/OP wheels are (again) not the current fashion necessarily but are solid great wheels and fine for up to 35mm tires. Full disclosure--my wife has that same color Ramb with similar components, and she loves hers. Good luck! Re: [RBW] Re: Rambouillet purchase
This frame is a good 650b conversion candidate, or Bon Jon Pass with no fenders. Build looks like high quality parts. I'd agree in the $1000-$1500 range, the better the paint, the higher in that range it would be worth. On Fri, Aug 24, 2018 at 11:09 AM Richard Rios wrote: > I'd say between 1000-1500$. Assuming no dents, no rust, just a few scratches ( dropouts, chain stay ) and components are in working order, $ 1000-1200. I have seen them go for less, but those purchases were a steal. [RBW] Re: Rambouillet purchase
I'll take a stab at it. Assuming the stem length, handlebar shape and width, and the gearing worked for me, and all I needed were incidentals like new cables, brake pads, and a chain, I'd be happy to part with about $1K-ish. Ebay seems to agree with me. I always assume I'll be changing the tires anyway. Saddle and pedals included would be a big plus. Another big plus for me would be the Ritchey cranks. Not so sure if I could live with those blue rims and nipples, but eye of the beholder and all that. As far as cosmetic damage is concerned, so long there are no spooky dings or rust, I actively seek the shelter mutts. Garage queens seem to command the king's ransom. Just my two cents, playing with your wallet!
