[RBW] Re: seat bag support
If you guy's have a evening or two to spare check out Jobst Brandt's great photos from 40 years of touring the alps. http://www.trentobike.org/Countries/Europe/Tour_Reports/Tour_of_the_Alps/Gallery/ It's a bit hard to tell but it seem his friend Bill Robertson has a nifty diy bag stand off that connects to the seat clamp: http://www.paloaltobicycles.com/alps_photos/i41.html http://www.paloaltobicycles.com/alps_photos/f27.html Anyone could fill me in on the details of his gizmo cuz I've been wondering for years? Hi Roger, I have a velo orange support if you are interested. Never mounted but taken out of plastic. Yours for $35 shipped to CONUS. Let me know if that is of interest. [RBW] Re: seat bag support
That's an excellent price, saving you about $15 over an order new from VO. I use one, and it's very good. The simplest thing is to fashion a standoff to go between the seatpost and the bag. Mine is a 4 piece of 1 1/4 PVC pipe which I fishmouthed at one end to fit against the seatpost. I run a toe strap through the loop on the bag, through the PVC pipe, around the seatpost, back through the tube and buckle it. Here's some photos from someone who did the same thing: http://128.83.80.200/bike/nelson.html Your seat must be really jammed far back on the seatpost for this to be happening. I don't have stuff falling out of the Nelson on my bikes. --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. Roger Skallerud South Dakota I have a Nelson bag and a Little Joe too. Personally, I really like the Bagman to keep the bags up off my tires (I have 54cm frames so not lots of room there). http://www.wallbike.com/racks/bagman.html When Wallingford is out of stock, I get the Bagman Sport model directly from Carradice in England, it arrives cheap and fast. Not sure if they are in stock now or not. I see them come up on Ebay sometimes too. Here's the Bagman holding up my Little Joe bag on my Rivendell: http://harmonias.com/bikes/L_Ramb_1.jpg And on my Luna bike: http://harmonias.com/bikes/Luna_1.jpg Works great holding up the Nelson as well- just don't fill it completely with bricks. [RBW] Re: seat bag support
The Velo Orange support is well made and well designed, and costs about $45 and clamps to the seatpost. I use it for the Nelson on my 29er, and it works well.
