Re: [RBW] What's in your garage?
I'm late to this survey, but I have too many bikes without any plan to cull the herd: Bikes I ride: - 64.5 cm Riv custom sport tourer with XTR M900 drive train - 60 cm Bombadil (1st edition with parallel top tubes) with Suntour XC Pro drive train - 63 cm Roadeo with DA 9 drive train - 64 cm P13 Paramount (1973) set up as Suntour Superbe Pro single speed - 63 cm Cinelli Special Course (1971) with full NR group (not ridden too regularly anymore) Bikes I maintain for others in my family: - Bridgestone XO2 - 56 cm Glorius - Specialized Stumpjumper (1983) Pictures and details: http://faculty.cord.edu/sprunger/bikes/ It's interesting to see what bikes are out there. My wife's ride which is super fun. 1969 Schwinn Twinn-which my oldest daughter (8) thinks is the coolest bike ever. Mostly because she doesn't have to pedal. And it has baskets for all her dolls. Jamis Capri 24 that's my oldest daughters ride. Fine little bike. First one she got to pick out all by herself. I asked her why she likes it best-she said it makes me feel like I'm a teenager-I'm in trouble. Surly LHT which usually sees super nasty weather duty. Offsite (kidnapped by daughter) 1971 Gitane TdF Professional, rebuilt by me; new crank, new rear wheel, new brakes. Rear rack and fenders. Kept the exceptionally cool Simplex downtube shifters and derailleurs. Borrowed it back while Bleriot was in hospital, borrowed a friends 700c generator wheel, swapped out the pedals for clipless, and commuted on it for several months. Nice ride. I feel so much better about my own small grouping of bikes, after seeing whole houses described by which bikes are in which room :) In order of mileage on them: 52 cm Blue Rambouillet, came built from RBW. I put a 50 chainring on, changed the wheels to a Rich built set of Phil/Velocity and upped the stock 32mm to 37mm Panaracers. 54.5 cm '95 Blue (repainted now) Road. Frameset that I built up with Campy Veloce and converted to 650B with White Ind/Velocity wheels. 55 cm '84 TREK 660. Came as a partial bike. Replaced the Campy Victory drive side with Veloce double, Ultegra rear and 650B conversion with Suntour/Velocity wheels. Waiting for a re-paint: 80s Nashbar Mark III (by Maruishi?). Came as a 650B conversion, took it apart to address the sweat caused surface rust. Re: [RBW] What's in your garage?
Anyone who has seen my blog know I have a lot of bike turnover, but here is the current stable: mine: - Velo Orange Camargue set up with Albastache bars, my main camping, utility, and family riding bike - '86 Raleigh Technium that I picked up on CL for $25, usually my fixed gear (though now a 6 speed) - '92 Specialized Stumpjumper, another CL find, I will probably sell it soon. - '13 Salsa Mukluk 29+/fat tire bike. I'm not sure about long term happiness with the wide bottom bracket - Twin Six/Waterford 29er, currently for sale, and it's replacement should be here this week wife's: - late 90s Trek 4300, from when they were still MUSA kid's: - 26 Giant Boulder for my 8 year old - 20 Trek Mystic for my 6 year old daughter - 20 Specialized Hotrock for my 6 year old son - 24 Specialized Hotrock, was my 8 year old's, now in waiting for the 6 year old - 2 trail-a-bikes, a Giant and Burley Picolo It's nice to have a three car garage... though my car sits in the driveway all summer to make room for the kids' bikes. [RBW] What's in your garage?
Social media thrives because I get to create myself. Here's an attempt to tell the bikey truth about me: 1994 Schwinn taiwanese cruiser, whitewall fatties, ss/coaster brake. From wife, first adult bike, last from Schwinn at a LBS. Commuted on it when gas hit $4. 2005 Specialized Sirrus. Liked commuting, thought I could do better. 1972 Schwinn Sports Tourer, lemon yellow, Rich wheels on original hubs. Cause I read some Grant, and Sheldon said so. Wanted it when I was a kid. Trapped in an ebay auction. 1990 MB-1 biggest frame, Manitou bumper fork. Dirt drop stem to accomodate my stiff neck and tight legs. Cause the 32mm Sirrus tires were a little small on rocky Brown County trails, and I couldn't afford a Bombadil, but this Petersen guy was in on it, I read his 1994 catalog, and wanted one. 2013 Hillborne 60cm cause I had the Rivbug and wanted into the virtual gang. 2015? Mystery bike cause I wanted notoriety in the virtual gang. So now I am a gang member, with a bunch of nice bikes! Which I enjoy. While trying to keep my head on straight. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. a pic of it on the stand: https://www.flickr.com/photos/37542512@N04/14812526809/in/dateposted-public/ • Rivendell Wilbury, 59cm (?), dark green. Has its single speed wheelset (650B Ghisallo wooden rims, White ENO eccentric rear hub, Weigle-drilled Campy front), but nothing else. Waiting for the time when I can't comfortably swing a leg over my current bikes. Beautiful bike. Here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/37542512@N04/8119883720/in/album-72157631845152497/ AT THE SHORE: • Lynskey Ti frame with Surly LHT fork, built up as an odd triple crank 8 speed with upright bars and cream-colored Fat Franks. It's a fun bike, but has killer toeclip overlap. Here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/37542512@N04/6012332165/in/album-72157627368474492/ With the recent acquisition of my fatbike, this one doesn't get ridden much at all. • 2014 Salsa Mukluk 2 fatbike. This bike is an absolute hoot to ride. I ride it on the beach in the early mornings when no one's out – I can ride for miles and miles without encountering a single decision – no cars, no turns, no people, just beautiful sounds and sights of the Atlantic. Also a blast on abandoned RR tracks, of which there are a lot around the Shore. My favorite bike at the Shore. Here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/37542512@N04/19671765176/in/datetaken/ • Giant one speed cruiser, with Brooks Hoxton basket and fun fenders. This is my jump on and ride bike – no need to lock, no need for gears. It's actually a really fun bike to ride. Here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/37542512@N04/6919298402/in/album-72157629422829002/ • Klein carbon fiber go-fast. My wife's triathlon bike. Looks terribly uncomfortable to me, but she likes it. • And about a half dozen beach cruisers in various sizes, so houseguests can always find a bike to ride. -Original Message- From: rbw-owners-bunch@googlegroups.commailto:rbw-owners-bunch@googlegroups.com [mailto:rbw-owners-bunch@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of murphyjrfk Sent: Tuesday, July 28, 2015 8:26 PM To: RBW Owners Bunch Subject: [RBW] What's in your garage? I'm not sure if I'll hang on to that one but it's a good bike so I probably will. Needless to say we have never had a car in our garage. My wife stopped complaining a while ago. So I guess it's ok. 56 2tt Samuel Hillborne. Storm gray sans cream head tube, noodles on dirt drops and rock roads (my favorite) 60 Quickbeam. Orange sans decals, albatross build (think it might be my favorite then I ride my Sam again) 54 Surly Cross Check. (Never really fit so finally selling it as a result of acquiring a '91 Yo Eddy) 53 Salsa Caseroll. Built very similar to my Sam but with Soma C Lines. (Actually my partners) Giant Halfway foldy bike. Cinzia foldy bike. And...about to take possession of a '91 Yo Eddy. I'm definitely gonna use the Rat Trap Pass tires and then migrate parts from the Cross Check so it'll be a weird mix of Surly, Soma, VO Sram at first. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group.
