Re: [RBW] Re: Thoughts on Rivendell cork grips

2020-07-09 Thread Ryan M.
I had some cork grips on a set of alba bars years ago but never liked them.
I found them too...delicate, I guess, and didn't really prefer the feel.

Now I'm using lock on grips in various colors and sizes from different
companies that I have accumulated over the years. My favorite are some Sram
grips that are larger in diameter than others and very comfy. Plus, it's
easy enough to change them out when I feel like it.

Phillip, what width dirt drop do you prefer? What I remember loving about
the Midge was the ability to drop a little bit versus a lot on a Noodle or
similar. (I started with Noodles on my first Bleriot in 2008)

[RBW] Re: Back on a Bleriot

2020-07-09 Thread Jason Fuller
I am loving the wider Nitto Noodle model drop bars (actually I'm on a
Simworks 50cm variant but same profile) for a fast-yet-capable build. The
extra control is super nice, yet I can still tuck and hammer along
pretending I'm on a carbon road bike if I want. Add to that a lightweight
wheelset with Rene Herse or similar tires and a modern drivetrain (sorry
Grant but you are honestly missing out here) and sounds like a dream bike
to me. I'd love to own a Bleriot.

[RBW] Re: Back on a Bleriot

2020-07-09 Thread Colin Cummings
Actually swapping over the cockpit isn't a bad idea, although I don't HATE
it on the specialized, it let's me ride pretty upright and it's comfy on
the big fat Big Ben tires. I guess I'm wanting the Bleriot to be a bit
"faster" with less-wide tires and multiple riding position options. But
since it's been over a year since I had my last Bleriot, I'm sure some
experimentation and reacquainting is in order. May as well start with what
I'm used to and go from there.

[RBW] WTB: Silver brake calipers, Albatross bars, cranks?

2020-07-09 Thread Jingy
Hello,
I'm looking for some parts for a new build.
Does anyone have a spare set of Silver brake calipers-allen, or Albatross
alloy bars?
Going out on a limb, how about a compact vintagey looking double 175mm
crankset (Velo Orange?)
How about a 175mm single crankset?
700c rear fixey wheel, silver box section rim

Twin cities/midwest area would be ideal

Thanks,
Jim

[RBW] OT/WTT: winemaker/cyclist clearing out high end bottles

2020-07-09 Thread Brendan Willard in SF
This is for Bay area members. Please feel free to delete if this is not allowed.

My buddy and I are clearing out his wine fridge and storage for a move. We’re
both bay area winemakers and would love to pass along the huge number of extra
high end bottles we have. Bottom line is we don’t know what to do with all of
it and we’re never going to drink it all. All in all it’s probably four or five
cases of wine totaling a couple thousand dollars. If someone has anything they
would like to trade or just wants to come grab some bottles, we will be around
this evening and tomorrow in the East Bay.

Things I’m looking for: 27 mm seat post for an older Ritchey. 22.0 stem for an
older Motobecane. Wide nitto noodle or the like. Non-aero drop levers. 650b
front wheel. Bags. All part considered. Donate to a local charity. 24 packs of
local beers.

[RBW] WTB: 51cm Allapoosa, Frame only preferred, will consider a full bike..... also Brooks B 17, brown preferred

2020-07-09 Thread Joel Stern
Color I am flexible on but I have never owned an orange bike so that would
be nice.

I am also wanting to try a B 17 again as my B68 sometimes feels a bit wide
in certain areas. I prefer a brown, the dark brown if possible but let me
know what you have.

Thanks

Joel

[RBW] FS: Pile o' shifters and parts, Silver Shimano Suntour Campy

2020-07-09 Thread Joe Bernard
I got stuff!

There's a fully assembled new Silver2 bar-end marked L, works front or rear,
left or right.

Silver1, kinda bent, new black cap, on bar-end marked R, works either way.

Left friction Shimano bar-end, also good on the right as a rear friction
shifter.

Various other downtubers in various states of "parts all there", you should be
able to cobble together whatever you need. Shimano 8-speed, old Dura-Ace, a
Suntour Superbe Pro rear, old friction Campy.

Black downtube cable stops a list member sent me free then I didn't need 'em.
Comes in the box or I'll send those to someone separately, also free.

The whole schlamozzle $60 shipped (with or without cable stops, I'm not pricing
them). Hit me up for shifty bits!
