The first white cases that came into the market were for the AmpliPhi model which had coms for closed loop.Later on they stopped manufacturing the black polypropylene case on all models, all models now come in the white power coated steel case. Which is a bummer here in Hawaii, we liked the black case for rust issues, we have started to have rust issues on the white cases, I believe it had something to do with 9540a testing for fire propagation. We have done up to 24 (no comms) in parallel, I don't believe SimpliPhi gives a max.Roland ShackelfordPresident / OwnerNABCEP PVIP #091209-162Office 808.775.7410Mobile 808.938.9239Power Solutions for Generations Renewable Energy Services, Inc." I will be posting a web page on the subject.  In the meantime, if you are interested, two of my analysis Excel sheets are linked in the case study.  I will be expanding on this and providing resources to any integrator that wants that knowledge. Thanks in advance for any insight.  I hope I am wrong about this and I am just missing something.  I also hope revealing my headaches will help someone someday… William Miller Solar17395 Oak Road, Atascadero, CA 93422805-438-5600www.millersolar.comCA Lic. 773985

I told them that SolArk says not to use the 12VDC RS output

connected to a 120VAC/12VDC breaker which they supply.  They told
me to wire the 120VAC source to the main service panel so the

exactly NOTwhat I wanted to happen as that would stop the battery
charging when there is a loss of utility power. I said I wanted
the 120VAC source to be the back up loads panel. After about a
week of calls and emails, I got an email back saying to use the
SolArk 12VDC terminals for RS.  I just emailed them a screen shot

At this point, I am asking anyone on the list to let me know how
they wired the transmitter successfully. Thank you for any

Re: [RE-wrenches] Outback_Inverter firmware mismatch

2021-03-28 Thread Roland - RES
Aloha Wayne,

We too have been plagued by this issue, that has been extremely frustrating for
us and our clients.

The newest 1.4.6 firmware is supposed to fix this issue. We have updated our
systems with this and so far so good. However because of the sometimes long
delays between the faults we can't be certain.

Prior to this most common fix was replacing the mate.

Also on FP2 we had a couple factory units have the hub jumpers set for the
wrong stacking. I believe they were set for parallel operations versus series.
Strange it would work fine with the jumpers either way for a long time. But
it's worth a check.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Sol ark 120v issues

2021-02-09 Thread Roland - RES
We have been successful with double and triple Sol-Arks being able to start
just about any single phase loads, the imbalance tolerance is multiplied per
inverter.

Like others we had numerous single inverter sites having issues offgrid,
primarily while completing construction, chop saws and air compressors being
the main culprits. We measured a max surge amp as high as 60a for a 1hp
compressor and large chop saw.

We have been successful in using an Outback X240 balancing transformer to
resolve the bus unbalance shut downs.

Does anyone know of a non outback balancing transformer available on the market?

Re: [RE-wrenches] Slave Radian not showing up on Hub10 or @ Mate3s

2020-06-25 Thread Roland - RES
Hey Chris,

Sounds like a failed power supply board Outback part SPARE-215. If the unit is
under warranty you should be able to get a replacement through OB tech support.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Radian Question

2020-01-05 Thread Roland - RES
You can select which power module is used with the Mate under the inverter
settings. Left, right or auto. This way you won’t have to physically swap the
modules to determine if one has failed.

Enphase, Solar-Edge, Pika, and I believe now SMA. You can check HECO advanced
inverters list under CSS program which lists all compliant inverters.

Re: [RE-wrenches] FXR , Mate 3, AGS and Must Run

2017-02-13 Thread Roland - RES
Oh,

The replacement Mate 3 with the older firmware, didn't have the power line
emblem on the main screen. Although it was the one that put the CC into GT
mode. I didn't leave this plugged in, I was just confirming the mate worked
before taking it out to a job.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Sonnen Battery & Outback Radian Inverter

2016-06-17 Thread Roland - RES
FYI that's a showroom unit with none of their internal wiring, and dummy
inverter and batteries to keep it light. An actual unit has a tremendous amount
of factory wiring between contractors, 200a auto transfer switch CT's and
sensors along with a powder coated steel door in place of plexiglass. The
Batteries are manufactured by Sony, they come in 48V 2kWh blocks that get
paralleled together.
