[RecipesAndMore] Recall Notice

2010-08-01 Thread Alberta Hall

RECALL NOTICE: The
Maker of all human beings (GOD) is recalling all units manufactured,
regardless of make or year, due to a serious defect in the primary and
 central component of the heart.
This is due to a malfunction in the original prototype units code named
Adam and Eve, resulting in the reproduction of the same defect in all
subsequent units. This defect has been technically termed Sub-sequential
Internal Non-Morality, or more commonly known as S.I.N., as it is
 primarily expressed.

 Some of the symptoms include:
 1. Loss of direction
 2. Foul vocal emissions
 3. Amnesia of origin
 4. Lack of peace and joy
 5. Selfish or violent behavior
 6. Depression or confusion in the mental component
 7. Fearfulness
 8. Idolatry
 9. RebellionThe Manufacturer, who is neither liable nor at fault for this
defect, is providing factory-authorized repair and service free of charge
to correct this defect. The Repair Technician, JESUS, has most generously
offered to bear the entire burden of the staggering cost of these repairs.
There is no additional fee required. The number to call for repair in all
 areas is: P-R-A-Y-E-R.
Once connected, please upload your burden of SIN through the REPENTANCE
procedure. Next, download ATONEMENT from the Repair Technician, Jesus,
 into the heart component.

No matter how big or small the SIN defect is, Jesus will replace it with:
 1. Love
 2. Joy
 3. Peace
 4. Pat ience
 5. Kindness
 6. Goodness
 7. Faithfulness
 8. Gentleness
 9. Self control

Please see the operating manual, the B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before
Leaving Earth) for further details on the use of these fixes.
WARNING: Continuing to operate the human being unit without correction
voids any manufacturer warranties, exposing the unit to dangers and
problems too numerous to list and will result in the human unit being
permanently impounded. For free emergency service, call on Jesus.

DANGER: The human being units not responding to this recall action will
have to be scrapped in the furnace. The SIN defect will not be permitted
to enter Heaven so as to prevent contamination of that facility. Thank you
 for your attention!

 - GOD

P.S. Please assist where possible by notifying others of this important
recall notice, and you may contact the Father any time by 'Knee mail'!

[RecipesAndMore] : The Cucumber

2010-03-03 Thread Alberta Hall

The Amazing Cucumber

This information was in The New York Times as part of their
Spotlight on the Home series that highlighted creative and
fanciful ways to solve common problems.

1. Cucumbers contain most of the vitamins you need every day, just
one cucumber contains Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin B3, Vitamin
B5, Vitamin B6, Folic Acid, Vitamin C, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium,
Phosphorus, Potassium and Zinc.

2. Feeling tired in the afternoon, put down the caffeinated soda
and pick up a cucumber. Cucumbers are a good source of B Vitamins
and Carbohydrates that can provide that quick pick-me-up that can
last for hours.

3. Tired of your bathroom mirror fogging up after a shower? Try
rubbing a cucumber slice along the mirror, it will eliminate the
fog and provide a soothing, spa-like fragrance.

4. Are grubs and slugs ruining your planting beds? Place a few
slices in a small pie tin and your garden will be free of pests
all season long. The chemicals in the cucumber react with the
aluminum to give off a scent undetectable to humans but drive
garden pests crazy and make them flee the area.

5. Looking for a fast and easy way to remove cellulite before
going out or to the pool? Try rubbing a slice or two of cucumbers
along your problem area for a few minutes, the phytochemicals in
the cucumber cause the collagen in your skin to tighten, firming
up the outer layer and reducing the visibility of
cellulite. Works great on wrinkles too!!!

6. Want to avoid a hangover or terrible headache? Eat a few
cucumber slices before going to bed and wake up refreshed and
headache free. Cucumbers contain enough sugar, B vitamins and
electrolytes to replenish essential nutrients the body lost,
keeping everything in equilibrium, avoiding both a hangover and headache!!

7. Looking to fight off that afternoon or evening snacking
binge? Cucumbers have been used for centuries and often used by
European trappers, traders and explorers for quick meals to thwart
off starvation.

8. Have an important meeting or job interview and you realize that
you don't have enough time to polish your shoes? Rub a freshly
cut cucumber over the shoe, its chemicals will provide a quick and
durable shine that not only looks great but also repels water.

9. Out of WD 40 and need to fix a squeaky hinge? Take a cucumber
slice and rub it along the problematic hinge, and voila, the squeak is gone!

10. Stressed out and don't have time for massage, facial or visit
to the spa? Cut up an entire cucumber and place it in a boiling
pot of water, the chemicals and nutrients from the cucumber will
react with the boiling water and be released in the steam,
creating a soothing, relaxing aroma that has been shown to reduce
stress in new mothers and college students during final exams.

11. Just finish a business lunch and realize you don't have gum or
mints? Take a slice of cucumber and press it to the roof of your
mouth with your tongue for 30 seconds to eliminate bad breath, the
phytochemcials will kill the bacteria in your mouth responsible
for causing bad breath.

12. Looking for a 'green' way to clean your faucets, sinks or
stainless steel? Take a slice of cucumber and rub it on the
surface you want to clean, not only will it remove years of
tarnish and bring back the shine, but it won't leave streaks and
won't harm your fingers or fingernails while you clean.

13. Using a pen and made a mistake? Take the outside of the
cucumber and slowly use it to erase the pen writing, also works
great on crayons and markers that the kids have used to decorate the walls!!

[RecipesAndMore] Leftover Food Tips:

2010-02-08 Thread Alberta Hall

Leftover Food Tips:

 * Cool leftover French toast, then freeze it in single layers. Store
in self-sealing plastic bags. Pop in your toaster to reheat.

 * Combine leftover mashed potatoes with chopped onion and shredded
cheese, then bake. Tastes like twice-baked potatoes with less
work!

 * Leftover spaghetti noodles? Add diced raw vegetables and enough
bottled Italian dressing to coat for an easy and refreshing
salad.

 * Form balls of leftover mashed potatoes around cubes of cheese, roll
in Parmesan cheese or crumbs and broil until golden brown.

 * To heat leftover tortillas, grease a skillet lightly with oil and
place over medium heat. Dip tortillas in water and quickly
   steam-saute them on both sides.

[RecipesAndMore] Foods that are good for your brain

2010-01-29 Thread Alberta Hall

Foods that are good for your brain
Courtesy of Food Network Kitchens Wednesday, October 21, 2009
Whether you're heading back to classes or to work after a vacation, you
might need a brain boost. Instead of overdosing on coffee or jittery
energy drinks, here are some fresh foods to help keep your brain in top
shape.
1. Spinach and other Leafy Greens
Green leafy veggies — spinach, kale, arugula, romaine lettuce and
Swiss chard — are packed with vitamins A, C, calcium, iron and many
disease-battling phyto-chemicals. According to a recent study, men and
women who chow down on three servings of these vegetables daily show
better long-term mental acuity than those with a single serving or less
(a serving is 1 cup raw or 1/2 cup cooked). Their healthier brains
functioned as well as someone 5 years younger!
2. Eggs
Eggs are a top source for good-for-you protein and their yolks contain
some iron and heart-friendly omega-3 fats. They also sport two powerful
antioxidants: lutein, which benefits eyesight; and choline, which plays
an important role in your brain's development, nerve transmission and
memory.
3. Salmon
There aren't too many things wrong with salmon. It's tasty, low in
mercury, often a sustainable choice and high in protein and omega-3
fats. Those fats, especially DHA (the kind found in fish), are vital
for boosting brain development, improving function and decreasing
inflammation.
4. Berries
Take your pick — raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and even
cherries. Some research supports a connection between berries'
antioxidants and improving short-term memory (a must-have in college
during exam time). There's nothing conclusive yet, but taking advantage
won't hurt.
5. Oatmeal
Breakfast is a very important meal; without the fuel it provides, your
brain and metabolism can't get going and you'll feel sluggish all day.
Oatmeal is a quick pick, easily flavored and filled with whole grains.
The healthy carbohydrates from oatmeal (and other whole grains) are our
brain's primary energy source.
Doctor up plain instant oatmeal with fruit, maple syrup or honey. Or
make a large batch the night before and store in the fridge — a quick
zap in the microwave and it's ready!
6. Broccoli
Women who eat more cruciferous veggies like broccoli and cauliflower
show slower mental decline as the years tick by, according to research.
Better still, they are full of fiber and vitamins C and E.
Brain-Zappers to Avoid
High-fat packaged snacks, fried foods and other calorie-laden choices
are tempting, but these foods will only fill you up and slow you down.
You'll feel sleepy, especially if you indulge toward the end of the day.
In fact, a new study suggests that fatty foods can bog down your
short-term memory — no good if you're in the middle of exams or a big
project.

[RecipesAndMore] : seeing with my heart

2009-11-19 Thread Alberta Hall

SEEING WITH MY HEART
I'm standing here before you,
No longer just a dog.
For I've climbed the height of Heaven
And reached the heart of God.
I understand my purpose,
And the gifts I have to give.
And I'll gladly take the challenge
So that you may freely live.
I'll be the eyes that guide you
In night time and in day,
And when you close your eyes in rest,
Beside you I will lay.
I will never forsake you: I will never go astray!
And I will always love you,
Until my dying day.
I won't ask for fields of clover
To romp, and roam and play,
I'll go wherever you lead me,
And I'll do whatever you say.
For I've climbed the height of Heaven,
And I've reached the heart of God.
And I'm standing here before you,
No longer just a dog.
So many hands did guide me
And loved me along the way:
And then they bowed their heads in tears
And slowly walked away.
For they understood their purpose.
And the gift they had to give.
They loved enough to let me go,
So you could freely live.
For they too have climbed to Heaven,
And they've reached the heart of God.
And they understand that I'm here today,
No longer just a dog.

[RecipesAndMore] Daddy's Poem

2009-10-27 Thread Alberta Hall

Daddy's Poem

Daddy' Poem

Her hair was up in a pony tail,
Her favorite dress tied with a bow.
Today was Daddy's Day at school,
And she couldn't wait to go..
But her mommy tried to tell her,
That she probably should stay home.
Why the kids might not understand,
If she went to school alone.

But she was not afraid;
She knew just what to say.
What to tell her classmates
Of why he wasn't there today.

But still her mother worried,
For her to face this day alone.
And that was why once again,
She tried to keep her daughter home..

But the little girl went to school
Eager to tell them all.
About a dad she never sees
A dad who never calls.

There were daddies along the back wall,
Or everyone to meet.
Children squirming impatiently,
Anxious in their seats

One by one the teacher called
A student from the class.
To introduce their daddy,
As seconds slowly passed.

At last the teacher called her name,
Every child turned to stare.
Each of them was searching,
A man who wasn't there.

'Where's her daddy at?'
She heard a boy call out.
'She probably doesn't have one,'
Another student dared to shout.

And from somewhere near the back,
She heard a daddy say,
'Looks like another deadbeat dad,
Too busy to waste his day.'

The words did not offend her,
As she smiled up at her Mom.
And looked back at her teacher,
Who told her to go on.

And with hands behind her back,
Slowly she began to speak.
And out from the mouth of a child,
Came words incredibly unique.

'My Daddy couldn't be here,
Because he lives so far away.
But I know he wishes he could be,
Since this is such a special day.

And though you cannot meet him,
I wanted you to know.
All about my daddy,
And how much he loves me so.

He loved to tell me stories
He taught me to ride my bike.
He surprised me with pink roses,
And taught me to fly a kite.

We used to share fudge sundaes,
And ice cream in a cone..
And though you cannot see him.
I'm not standing here alone.

'Cause my daddy's always with me,
Even though we are apart
I know because he told me,
He'll forever be in my heart'

With that, her little hand reached up,
And lay across her chest.
Feeling her own heartbeat,
Beneath her favorite dress.

And from somewhere in the crowd of dads,
Her mother stood in tears.
Proudly watching her daughter,
Who was wise beyond her years.

For she stood up for the love
Of a man not in her life.
Doing what was best for her,
Doing what was right.

And when she dropped her hand back down,
Staring straight into the crowd.
She finished with a voice so soft,
But its message clear and loud.

'I love my daddy very much,
he's my shining star.
And if he could, he'd be here,
But heaven's just too far.

You see he is a soldier
And died just this past year
When a roadside bomb hit his convoy
And taught brave men to fear.

But sometimes when I close my eyes,
it's like he never went away...'
And then she closed her eyes,
And saw him there that day.

And to her mother's amazement,
She witnessed with surprise.
A room full of daddies and children,
All starting to close their eyes.

Who knows what they saw before them,
Who knows what they felt inside.
Perhaps for merely a second,
They saw him at her side.

'I know you're with me Daddy,'
To the silence she called out.
And what happened next made believers,
Of those once filled with doubt.

Not one in that room could explain it,
For each of their eyes had been closed.
But there on the desk beside her,
Was a fragrant long-stemmed pink rose.

And a child was blessed, if only for a moment,
By the love of her shining star.
And given the gift of believing,
That heaven is never too far.

Until eternity. God bless!

[RecipesAndMore] laundry disasters

2009-10-15 Thread Alberta Hall

10 Laundry Disasters and How To Help Clothes Recover
Solutions for the Worst Laundry Mistakes

By
Sarah Aguirre,
About.com
Housekeeping Guide

1. Shrunken Sweaters.

It may seem hopeless, but there is a tiny glimmer of a chance that you can
still wear that sweater. It's worth a try to attempt to reshape a wet
sweater
to its original size. Add 2-3 tablespoonfuls of hair conditioner to a bucket
of room temperature water. Put the sweater in the bucket to soak for about
5 minutes. Lay the sweater on a clean dry towel and slowly and gently try to
stretch the fibers and reshape the garment before allowing it to dry on the
towel.

2. Dried Stains.

Once a stain has been dried, it's very hard to remove, but it is possible.
Try repeating the steps for the individual stain. More than likely you'll
need
to soak the stain, or use a more aggressive stain remover. On white clothes,
try using lemon juice and placing the garment in the sun. Both the lemon
juice
and the sun will work as bleaching agents. Be sure to rinse the clothing
thoroughly before rewashing.

3. Dingy Whites.

White fabrics can become yellowed or grayed and dingy. For gray and dingy
whites try the triple soak. Soak the whites first in a solution of a
bucketful
of water and 2 tablespoons of liquid dish soap. Next rinse out the whites
and soak in a solution of 2 tablespoons of ammonia and a bucketful of water.
Next, rinse out the whites, and soak in a bucket of warm water and 2
tablespoons of vinegar. Rinse thoroughly and dry. This soaking method will
leave your
whites bright and clean.

4. Wrinkled Clothes.

If clothes have been neglected in the dryer for too long they are probably
wrinkled. To smooth out the wrinkles, put the load back in the dryer with a
damp
towel (for a medium sized load) or a damp sock (for a small load).

5. Pink Whites.

A red sock in the washer with your whites can leave you seeing rose-colored
laundry. To try to fix this problem you'll need Rit Color Remover. This
product
works wonders on white laundry that had dye transfer on it. The Rit Color
Remover can also be effective at removing dye on some colored or patterned
backgrounds,
although you run the risk of having the original color or pattern of the
garment damaged.

6. Crayons in the Dryer.

I've got quite a bit of experience with this one. I'll never forget the
first time I looked in the dryer to see streaks of red crayon melted around
the
drum. To get rid of it, start with scraping off as much of the wax as you
can. I like using a credit card because it doesn't scratch the drum, but
does
a good job of removing dried on wax. Depending on how tough the wax is to
remove, you might need to use a blow dryer to remove the wax. Hold the dryer
6 inches away from the drum. It will heat up the wax, allowing you to wipe
it away. Next, you'll need some WD-40. Spray it on a cloth and wipe at the
waxed
areas until the wax is gone. For your final step, use a mild detergent like
dish soap or an all-purpose cleaner and warm water to do a final wipe down
of the drum.

7. Stickers Washed and Dried.

Sometimes a Good Job sticker gets left on clothes as they go through the
laundry cycle. A sticker that has been washed and dried, congeals and
becomes
very difficult to remove. Use an ice cube to freeze the stained area, and
try to scrape away as much of the sticker as possible with a spoon. Apply
baby
or cooking oil to the sticker area and try to scrape away more of the stain
as it loosens. Rinse the area thoroughly with a little dish soap and warm
water
before applying a stain remover gel and rewashing.

8. Mildew Smells or Stains.

Did you forget about the clothes in the washer and now they have a sour
smell? If the clothes smell, but aren't stained by pinpoint sized dots of
mildew,
you may simply be able to rewash them with a helping of bleach for whites,
or color-safe bleach for colors. If you indeed have mildew stains, washing
with
chlorine bleach will remove the stains from white clothing. For colored
clothing use a mixture of color-safe oxygen bleach (1 teaspoon) , and
hydrogen
peroxide (1 cup) to sponge the stained areas before rinsing thoroughly and
rewashing. Clothes may also benefit from soaking in a borax solution.

9. A Pen Explodes.

If a pen found its way into your laundry, it can wreak a lot of havoc before
it's found. Whether you realize there are ink stains after clothes are
washed,
or after they are dried, the steps are the same.

The first solution to try is rubbing alcohol. Place the clothing on top of a
clean white towel. Be sure to test in a hidden spot before applying rubbing
alcohol to the permanent ink stain. Blot rubbing alcohol onto the stain. The
towel underneath will become wet and discolored from the ink. Be sure to
move
the garment to a clean dry section of the towel as this happens. Continue
until no more ink stain can be removed. Make sure you rinse the stained area
completely free of the rubbing alcohol. Next try fingernail polish remover.
Blot in the same

[RecipesAndMore] Top 10 Riskiest Foods

2009-10-14 Thread Alberta Hall

Top 10 Riskiest Foods
1. LEAFY GREENS: 363 outbreaks involving 13,568 reported cases of
illness
Ouch. Salads and other leafy greens (iceberg lettuce, romaine lettuce,
leaf lettuce, butter lettuce, baby leaf lettuce, escarole, endive,
spring mix, spinach, cabbage, kale, arugula or chard) account for 24
percent of all of the outbreaks linked to the FDA Top Ten. The very
leaves we're supposed to be eating to improve our health! E. coli
accounts for 10 percent of all outbreaks in leafy greens; Norovirus,
which is commonly spread by the unwashed hands of an ill handler or
consumer was linked to 64 percent of the outbreaks in leafy greens.
Salmonella was responsible for nearly 10 percent of the outbreaks.
2. EGGS: 352 outbreaks involving 11,163 reported cases of illness
The overwhelming majority of illnesses from eggs are associated with
Salmonella. Regulations for cleaning and inspecting eggs were
implemented in the 1970s and have reduced salmonellosis caused by
external fecal contamination of egg shells. However, Salmonella
enteritidis, the most prevalent type of Salmonella in eggs today,
infects the ovaries of otherwise healthy hens and contaminates the eggs
before the shells are formed. Notably, final regulations that require
the adoption of controls aimed at minimizing Salmonella enteriditis in
egg production were issued in July 2009 (and will become effective in
2010 or 2012, depending on producer size), after over a decade of
inaction by the federal government. Half of all egg outbreaks occurred
from restaurants and other food establishments.
3. TUNA: 268 outbreaks involving 2341 reported cases of illness
Scombroid, the illness caused by scombrotoxin, was by far the most
common cause of illness related to tuna dishes, affecting over 2300
people who were reported to have been sickened. Fresh fish decay quickly
after being caught and, if stored above 60F degrees, begin to release
natural toxins that are dangerous for humans. Adequate refrigeration and
handling can slow this spoilage, but the toxin cannot be destroyed by
cooking, freezing, smoking, curing, or canning.
Symptoms of scombroid poisoning can include skin flushing, headaches,
abdominal cramps, nausea, diarrhea, palpitations, and loss of vision. In
addition to scombrotoxin, Norovirus and Salmonella caused illnesses
related to tuna consumption, affecting nearly 1000 people. Over 65
percent of outbreaks linked to tuna occurred in restaurants.
4. OYSTERS: 132 outbreaks involving 3409 reported cases of illness
Though they comprise a trivial part of the American diet, tainted
oysters are the fourth entry in the FDA Top Ten, responsible for almost
2000 reported illnesses. Not surprisingly, the majority of outbreaks
from oysters occurred in restaurants.
Illnesses from oysters occur primarily from two sources: Norovirus and
Vibrio. Although Norovirus in other foods is usually associated with
improper handling during harvest or preparation, oysters can actually be
harvested from waters contaminated with Norovirus. When served raw or
undercooked, oysters can cause gastroenteritis, an inflammation of
the stomach and small or large intestines.
The most dangerous of the two pathogens found in oysters i s Vibrio.
This hazard is a type of bacterium in the same family as cholera. The
most common strains in the U.S. are V. vulnificus and V.
parahaemolyticus, both of which can cause severe disease. In
immuno-compromised persons, particularly those with chronic liver
disease, V. vulnificus can infect the bloodstream, causing a severe and
life-threatening illness characterized by fever and chills, decreased
blood pressure (septic shock), and blistering skin lesions. V.
vulnificus bloodstream infections, called septicemia, are fatal about 50
percent of the time.
5. POTATOES: 108 outbreaks involving 3659 reported cases of illness
Potatoes, often in the form of potato salad, were linked to 108
outbreaks, with more 3600 consumers reported to have been sickened by
spuds since 1990.
Potatoes are grown in the soil, but they are always cooked before
consuming. Outbreaks are linked to dishes, like potato salad, that can
contain many ingredients and also a broad range of pathogens. Salmonella
is most common, associated with almost 30 percent of potato outbreaks.
E. coli also appears in the potato category, accounting for 6 potato
outbreaks. Normally found in animal feces, the presence of Salmonella
and E. coli in potato dishes could indicate cross contamination from the
raw to the cooked ingredients or possibly from raw meat or poultry
during handling and preparation. Shigella and Listeria monocytogenes
also appear in outbreaks associated with potatoes. Shigella is easily
transmitted from an infected person to a food product, and thus may
indicate improper handling during
6. CHEESE: 83 outbreaks involving 2761 reported cases of illness
Cheese products were linked to 83 outbreaks that sickened thousands of
consumers since 1990, making it number six of the FDA Top Ten.

[RecipesAndMore] Keys For Living

2009-10-02 Thread Alberta Hall

KEYS FOR LIVING
1. The best way to get even is to forget...
2. Feed your faith and your doubts will starve to death...
3. God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts...
4. Some folks wear their halos much too tightly...
5. Some marriages are made in heaven, but they ALL have to be
maintained on earth...
6. Unless you can create the WHOLE universe in 5 days, then perhaps
giving advice
to God isn't such a good idea!
7. Sorrow looks back, worry looks around, and faith looks up...
8. Standing in the middle of the road is dangerous. You will get
knocked down by
the traffic from both ways.
9. Words are windows to the heart.
10. A skeptic is a person who, when he sees the handwriting on the
wall, claims it's
a forgery.
11. It isn't difficult to make a mountain out of a molehill just
add a little dirt.
12. A successful marriage isn't finding the right person-it's being
the right person.
13. The mighty oak tree was once a little nut that held its ground.
14. Too many people offer God prayers, with claw marks all over them.
15. The tongue must be heavy indeed, because so few people can hold it.
16. To forgive is to set the prisoner free, and then discover the
prisoner was you.
17. You have to wonder about humans, they think God is dead and
Elvis is alive!
18. It's all right to sit on your pity pot every now and again.
Just be sure to flush

19. You'll notice that a turtle only makes progress when it sticks

And last but not least -- God gave the angels Wings, and He gave

[RecipesAndMore] WD-40

2009-09-17 Thread Alberta Hall

WD-40

GOOD REMINDER!

A lady got up very early one morning and went outside to pickup the
Sunday paper, she noticed someone had sprayed red paint all around the
sides of the neighbors brand new beige truck. She went over and woke him
up and gave him the bad news. He was, of course extremely upset.

And they stood there trying to figure out what could be done about the
problem. They decided there wasn't much recourse but to wait until
Monday, since nothing was open. Just then another neighbor came out of
his house, surveyed the situation and immediately went to get his WD-40
out and cleaned the red paint off with it. Guess What! It cleaned up
that paint without harming the original paint on the truck! I'm
impressed!!

Water Displacement #40. The product began from a search for a rust
preventative solvent and degreaser to protect Missile parts. WD-40 was
created in 1953 by three Technicians at the San Diego Rocket Chemical
Company. Its name comes from the project that was to find a 'water
displac ement' compound. They were successful with the fortieth
formulation, thus WD-40. The Corvair Company bought it in bulk to
protect their atlas missile parts.

Ken East (one of the original founders) says there is nothing in WD-40
that would hurt you...' IT IS MADE FROM FISH OIL' When you read the
'shower door' part, try it. It's the first thing that has ever cleaned
that spotty shower door. If yours is plastic, it works just as well as
glass. It is a miracle! Then try it on your stovetop... It is now
shinier than it has ever been before.

14) Keeps glass shower doors free of water spots.
15) Camouflages scratches in ceramic and marble floors.
16) Keeps scissors working smoothly.
17) Lubricates noisy door hinges on vehicles and doors in homes
18) It removes black scuff marks from the kitchen floor! Open some
windows if you have a lot of marks.
19) Bug guts will eat away the finish on your car. Removed quickly, with
WD-40!
20) Gives children's play gym slide a shine for a super fast slide.
21) Lubricates gear shift on lawn mowers.

35) Removes all traces of duct tape.
36) Folks even spray it on their arms, hands, and knees to relieve
arthritis pain
37) Florida's favorite use 'Cleans and removes love bugs from grills and
bumpers.'
38) Protects the Statue of Liberty from the elements..
39) WD-40 attracts fish. Spray a LITTLE on live bait or lures and you
will be catching the big one in no time.
40) Ant bites. It takes the sting away immediately and stops the itch.

41) WD-40 is great for removing crayon from walls. Spray on the mark and
wipe with a clean rag.
42) If you've washed and dried a tube of lipstick with a load of
laundry, saturate the lipstick spots with WD-40 and Presto! Lipstick is
gone!
43) If you spray WD-40 on the distributor cap, it will displace the
moisture and allow the car to start.

Keep a can of WD-40 in your kitchen cabinet.. It is good for oven burns
or any other type of burn. It takes the burned feeling away and heals
with NO scarring.

Remember, the basic ingredient is FISH OIL

[RecipesAndMore] ASPIRINS

2009-09-16 Thread Alberta Hall

Aspirin

1. If you take an aspirin or a baby aspirin once a day, take it
at night. the reason: aspirin has a 24-hour
half-life. Therefore, if most heart attacks happen in the wee
hours of the morning, the aspirin would be strongest in your system.

  2. Aspirin lasts a really long time in your medicine
chest. Years. (when it gets old, it smells like vinegar.)

  Please read on.

WHY ASPIRIN BY YOUR BED save lives It is important to
always have ASPIRIN in the home!!!

  ABOUT HEART ATTACKS

There are other symptoms of an heart attack besides the pain on
 the leftarm.

One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well
as nausea and lots of sweating, however these symptoms may also
 occur less frequently.

NOTE: There may be no pain in the chest during a heart attack.

The majority of people (about 60%) who had a heart attack
during their sleep, did not wake up.

However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from
 your deep sleep.

If that happens, IMMEDIATELY DISSOLVE TWO ASPIRINS IN YOUR
MOUTH and swallow them with a bit of

water.

Afterwards, phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very
close by and state HEART ATTACK!!!

and that you have taken 2 ASPIRINS

Take a seat on a chair or sofa and wait for their arrival and .

  DO NOT LIE DOWN !!!

A Cardiologist has stated that, if each person, after receiving
this e-mail, sends it to 10 people, probably a life can be

saved!

[RecipesAndMore] : If I Knew

2009-09-15 Thread Alberta Hall

If I Knew

If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise, I would video tape each action
and word, so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say I love you,
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything right.

There will always be another day
to say I love you,
And certainly there's another chance
to say our Anything I can do?

But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,

That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear

Take time to say I'm sorry, Please forgive me,
Thank you, or It's okay.
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

[RecipesAndMore] People Who Love You

2009-09-14 Thread Alberta Hall

People Who Love You

1. There are at least two people in this world that you would die for.
2. At least 15 people in this world love you in some way.
3. The only reason anyone would ever hate you is because they want to be
just like you.
4. A smile from you can bring happiness to anyone, even if they don't
like you.
5. Every night, SOMEONE thinks about you before they go to sleep.
6. You mean the world to someone.
7. You are special and unique.
8. Someone that you don't even know exists loves you (Like Me!).
9. When you make the biggest mistake ever, something good comes from it.
10. When you think the world has turned its back on you take another
look.
11. Always remember the compliments you received. Forget about the rude
remarks.

I would rather have one rose and a kind word from a friend while I'm
here than a whole truck load when I'm gone.

Happiness keeps You Sweet,
Trials keep You Strong,
Sorrows keep You Human,
Failures keeps You Humble,
Success keeps You Glowing,
But Only God keeps You Going!

[RecipesAndMore] Get the Right Tools for the Job

2009-08-12 Thread Alberta Hall

Got this from another list. Found it interesting and informative.

Get the Right Tools for the Job
So you've cleared your cupboards of hormone-disrupting processed
foods and stocked up on fresh vegetables and fruits, organic meats,
low-fat organic dairy products, and whole grains. Excellent. You've
replaced high-calorie cooking methods like frying with low-calorie
methods like baking, roasting, and steaming. Awesome! Now let's take
a closer look at another aspect of healthy cooking: your cookware.
Believe it or not, the pots and pans you cook your food in can have
an impact on your metabolism. Some choices are better than others,
and I'll start with the good ones:
* Cast iron. This classic material conducts heat well and can
even add a little iron, an essential nutrient, to your food.
Cooking experts recommend seasoning cast-iron pans with vegetable
oil so foods won't stick to them.
* Porcelain-coated cookware. Pots and pans coated with porcelain
are naturally low-stick and easy to clean.
* Stainless steel. An alloy of iron and other metals, stainless
steel is nontoxic and doesn't react with acidic foods.
* Glass. Glass cookware is great for baking and roasting and has
the advantage of being microwave safe.
What I'm not so crazy about are pans with chemical nonstick coatings
like Teflon. For years, nonstick pans had a great rap because they
made cleanup easier and required less butter and oil for
lubrication. But in recent years, organizations like the
Environmental Working Group have spoken out against Teflon because
it contains the chemical perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA), which may be
released when Teflon is heated. The Environmental Protection Agency
has labeled PFOA a likely human carcinogen, and some research has
linked it to abnormal levels of thyroid hormone, liver inflammation,
and elevated cholesterol. The maker of Teflon has committed to
phasing out PFOA by 2015, but until then you're better off using
healthy alternatives.

character is told that the future can be summed
up in one word: Plastics. Unfortunately, the
person giving that advice pretty much nailed it
— plastics are now everywhere. Manufacturers use
plasticss more than any other material to create
and package products. The bad news is, many
types of plastic contain endocrine disruptors
and other dangerous chemicals. If you use
containers made of those types to store food,
those chemicals can leach into your food and
affect your metabolism and your overall health.
You can tell which plastics to avoid by checking
the numbers printed on the bottom of the
containers. Here are the ones you should stop using:
* #3 — Polyvinyl chloride (often abbreviated
PVC or V): PVC is found in bottles that contain
cooking oils, cling wrap, the clear wrap around
deli meats and cheeses, plumbing pipes, shower
curtains, and toys. This type of plastic
 contains hormone-disrupting phthalates and
cancer-causing dioxins that can leach out when
the plastic comes into contact with heat, food, water, air, or our bodies.
* Alternatives: Choose Glad wrap, Saran
premium wrap, or Saran Cling Plus wrap (which
do not contain PVC) or store your food in
glass. Buy cooking oil in glass bottles. Don't
ever microwave your food in plastic — instead,
use parchment paper or wax paper.
* #6 — Polyystyrene (Styrofoam; often
abbreviated PS): Polystyrene is another big no.
It's found in your typical take-out containers,
disposable coffee cups, and egg cartons. The
materials used to create polystyrene are all
known or suspected carcinogens, and when PS
gets hot, it can release chemicals into foods.
* Alternatives: Buy eggs in cardboard
containers and don't drink your coffee from
Styrofoam cups. If you can't avoid polystyrene
packaging, transfer any food into a glass or ceramic container ASAP.
* #7 — Polyycarbonate (often abbreviated
PC): Polycarbonate is found in baby bottles,
 microwave ovenware, stain-resistant food
 storage containers, eating utensils, the
plastic liners of almost all food and
soft-drink cans, Lexan containers, old Nalgene
 or other hard-plastic drinking bottles,
5-gallon water jugs, and building materials.
Hundreds of studies have linked bisphenol A
(BPA), a chemical in polycarbonate plastic,
 with harmful endocrine-disrupting effects, such
as early puberty in girls, abnormal breast
tissue and prostate growth, and lower sperm count.
* Alternatives: Use glass baby bottles and
switch to stainless steel or ceramic drinking
bottles. Limit your exposure from canned foods
like beans by rinsing the food thoroughly before you eat it.
A few types of plastic are okay to use because
they don't contain as many toxins. These are PET
or PETE (#1 plastic, the type used in many
beverage bottles), HDPE (#2 plastic, used in
some Tupperware products), LDPE (#4 plastic),
and PP (#5 plastic, used in yogurt containers).
While these types are okay, I say the fewer
plastics in your life, the better. Whenever
possible, look for alternatives such as glass, stainless steel, and ceramics.

[RecipesAndMore] The Old Paths

2009-07-28 Thread Alberta Hall

THE OLD PATHS

I liked the old paths, when
Moms were at home.
Dads were at work.
Brothers went into the army.
And sisters got married BEFORE having children!

Crime did not pay;
Hard work did;
And people knew the difference.

Moms could cook;
Dads would work;
Children would behave.

Husbands were loving;
Wives were supportive;
And children were polite.

Women wore the jewelry;
And Men wore the pants.
Women looked like ladies;
Men looked like gentlemen;
And children looked decent.

People loved the truth,
And hated a lie;
They came to church to get IN,
Not to get OUT!

Hymns sounded Godly;
Sermons sounded helpful;
Rejoicing sounded normal;
And crying sounded sincere.

Cursing was wicked;
Drugs were for illness;
And divorce was unthinkable.

The flag was honored;
America was beautiful;
And God was welcome!

We read the Bible in public;
Prayed in school;
And preached from house to house
To be called an American was worth dying for;
To be called a Christian was worth living for;
To be called a traitor was a shame!

Preachers preached because they had a message;
And Christians rejoiced because they had the VICTORY!
Preachers preached from the Bible;
Singers sang from the heart;
And sinners turned to the Lord to be SAVED!

A new birth meant a new life;
Salvation meant a changed life;
Following Christ led to eternal life.

Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the word of God;
Being a deacon meant you would serve the Lord;
Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus;
And being a sinner meant someone was praying for you!

Laws were based on the Bible;
Homes read the Bible;
And churches taught the Bible.

God was worshiped;
Christ was exalted;
And the Holy Spirit was respected..

Church was where you found Christians
on the Lord's day, rather than in the garden,
on the creek bank, on the golf course,
Or being entertained somewhere else.

I still like the old paths the best!

'The Old Paths' was written by a retired minister who lives
in Tennessee ...

You are loved with an everlasting love, and underneath are the
Everlasting Arms.

[RecipesAndMore] survivor kit

2009-07-21 Thread Alberta Hall

I am giving you a DAILY SURVIVAL KIT, to help you through 2009:

Toothpick - to remind you to pick the good qualities in everyone,
including yourself.

Rubber band - to remind you to be flexible. Things might not always go
the way you want, but they can be worked out.

Band-Aid - to remind you to heal hurt feelings, either yours or
someone else's.

Eraser - to remind you everyone makes mistakes, but that's okay because
we learn by our errors..

Candy Kiss - to remind you everyone needs a hug or a compliment every day.

Mint - to remind you that you are worth a mint to your family.

Bubble Gum - to remind you to stick with it and you can accomplish anything.

Pencil - to remind you to list your blessings every day.

Tea Bag - to remind you to take time to relax daily and go over that
list of God's blessings.

This is what makes life worth living every minute, every day, so I'm
wishing you days of love, gratitude, friends to cherish, caring,
sharing, laughter, music, warm feelings in your heart, and soaring with
the eagles!

Hi Delma and all,
Glad you are back and hope you get caught up soon.
I'm back home with Lady and so far all is going well. She has
adapted to home life like she's been her from the start. Stella
accepted her with no problem. Lady took to Mike immediately too.
Trying to catch up but doubt that'll happen any time soon.
It was strange celebrating my birthday on the 8th without family and
friends, but I got lots of calls. They at school made a special
dinner and got me a nice cake. Another person in the class
celebrated her birthday on the 7th away from her husband and kids too.
Well, off to get breakfa I'll post when I can.st.
