RE: [Repeater-Builder] Re: R-1225

2005-12-25 Thread Eric Lemmon
Skipp,

The i20R is nothing more than a no-frills 10-user community tone panel. It
works as advertised, except that it neither generates nor responds to
reverse burst squelch-tail elimination phase shifts, which the single-user
R1225 controller does well. Neither it nor the R1225 built-in controller
has telephone interconnect.

I like the pretty led lights flashing on the I20R when you program it...

I haven't had to mess around with the internal
R1225 controller much... does it do multiple user community repeater tone
panel type operation very well? I don't believe it has telephone
interconnect?

[Repeater-Builder] Re: Motorola HLD 4051A / 4052A and TRN 5080A

2005-12-25 Thread skipp025

The mentioned Motorola MSR-2000 HLD Rreamp slides
into a special slot/space within the pre-selector
cavity/body. Sometimes it's nice to have the
one that fits exact.

One could make a small drop in preamp to fit in
the msr spot, but I'd have to go back throught
check the input and output impedances to see if
the preselector supplies 50 ohms in and out.

Working from memory... one need only swap pins
2 & 3 to make the Micor and MSR-2000 metering
units interchange. I installed a spdt toggle
switch in a metering box and now use it for
both type repeaters.

cheers,

Re: [Repeater-Builder] MSF5000 & RF Millivolt Meter Help

2005-12-25 Thread Mathew Quaife

Ok, got things a little more stable now, and here is what I did, tell me if it sounds correct.  Starting with the Post FIlter, I inserted a signal of 442.000, which is the tx of the repeater, into J10 of 0 dBm.  I adjusted L18 for a peak on the -30 dBm scale of the RF millivolt meter.  I then adjusted L17 for a dip, which went to 0 Millivollts.  I moved the probe to J17 and adjusted L16 for a dip, same results at 0 millivolts, then moved the probe to J16, and adjusted L15 for a dip, which went around 150 Millivolts.     I followed the same procedure for the Prefilter as well, getting nearly the same results along the process.     Mathew "Bob M." <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: First, make sure the meter gives you a stable readingwhen connected to just the sig

Re: [Repeater-Builder] MSF5000 & RF Millivolt Meter Help

2005-12-25 Thread Bob M.
First, make sure the meter gives you a stable reading
when connected to just the sig gen. This also gives
you a chance to check the calibration. Then hook the
sig gen to the output of the post-filter, set it to
0dBm output level, and connect the PA output cable to
the input of the post-filter (that's where it normally
goes). You can remove power from the station too.
Insert the tuning probe into the appropriate hole. The
signal should be about 20-30dB lower than what you
read when connected directly. It should also be stable
at this point. Make sure the locking nuts around the
hex cores are tight while still allowing you to tune
them. The tuning cores should be snug; inserting or
removing the 5mm Allen wrench should not cause them to
move or change tuning.

You could also have "whiskers" growing inside the F/D,
although I've never heard of that happening in the
F/D. About all you can do is remove the tuning core
and put something inside, like a pipe-cleaner, and
move it all around to dislodge any dust, dirt, or
growing metal shavings. Blow into the tuning hole or
use compressed air to get rid of anything loose.

Follow the procedure in the manual to the letter. When
it says to pre-adjust all the cores, do it. When it
says to adjust each one in a particular sequence and
not go back to do them all again, make sure you don't
try to tune them more than once without pre-setting
them and repeating the entire procedure. The tuning
should be very smooth. If you haven't taken the outer
cabinet off the station, doing so will make access to
the F/D connectors a lot easier.

I seem to be getting good at tuning these things.. I have 2 of them on
the air at the moment.

Check your connections. Mine did the same thing.. Make sure you dont
bump any of the wires as you spin the allen wrench.

[Repeater-Builder] MSF5000 & RF Millivolt Meter Help

2005-12-25 Thread n9lv
Ok, I am back to tuning the MSF5000 F/D using the Boonton 92A-S2 RF
Millivolt meter, I have the 91-12F Probe. I started the alignment
procedure and the meter does not remain stable, each time I turn the
set screw for L18 it bobs up and down, never seeing a real peak or dip.

What might I be doing wrong here?

Re: [Repeater-Builder] WTS Sinclair Duplexer VHF

2005-12-25 Thread rogeradio

My pleasant surprise, thanks to all who, in the rush of Christmas eve activities, who took the time to  respond to my WTS email.   I just realized that I missed a couple of things.   I didn't weigh the beast and I didn't get the photos taken.   I will fix that this afternoon and will email the photos in low pixel rate to the responders.

Storage shed is too full.  I need to place into someone's hands a genuine Sinclair hybrid-ring duplexer.  It is currently tuned to 147.090 MHz.  Our repeater group replaced the Sinclair by Wacom duplexer in 1980 when we moved down to 147.080 per the band plan.  I've had the sinclair in my high and dry basement shop until this summer.  It's now in my heated, dry storage unit.  It is in original condition.

It's free.   BUT, you pay the freight!   Photos (jpeg) can be provided with a 48 hr wait period.

If no one wants it.  Jan 02, it's going to the metal recycler.

For preamps go to Chip Angle at Anglelinear (www.anglelinear.com)

The micor base station test set can be modified for the MSR, it's a few
wires that need moving around. The schematic of the MSR test set is on

[Repeater-Builder] Motorola HLD 4051A / 4052A and TRN 5080A

2005-12-25 Thread Mike
I'm needing an HLD 4051A receiver preamp for an MSR 2000 VHF
Base/Repeater station. Would settle for a HLD 4052A, but, prefer the
4051 if possible. Would also like to obtain a TRN 5080A DC Metering
Chassis Set for this animal. Anyone have any of these they would part
with??
Thanks,
Mike
