I have four of the ARCOM controllers and have had excellent performance. Ken is responsive when asked reasonable questions even though the answers are in the manual, haha. Re: [Repeater-Builder] Mastr II Repeater Controller Recommendation
We have an NHRC-7 on our VHF Mastr2 tied to our UHF GR1225... Once the audio levels were balanced out properly, it's been rock solid. The ARCOM controllers are very popular in the neck of the woods... But for a simple EmCom repeater network like the one we operate, the bells and whistles tend to get in the way... Less money on controllers and more money on antennas, feedline and filtering :) If you're just looking for a club or ragchew machine, the Arcom RLC controllers are a great fit (as long as they fall within your budget)... A local club just upgraded from Mastr2s with RLCs to Kenwood repeaters with Arcoms... And then upgraded the interconnections with LMR400... We are looking for a controller recommendation that will replace the existing controller on our UHF machine and also be used to control the VHF machine and will allow us to link the two machines together on an as needed basis via DTMF. I recommend the SCom 7330: http://scomcontrollers.com/7330resource.shtml. Another possibility is the LinkComm RLC-1+: http://linkcomm.com/ppage.php?cid=2scid=12. At this point the SCom is a better value for the money (3 ports vs. 2 on the RLC-1+, costs a bit less than the RLC-1+), but the RLC-1+ has more functionality at this time, as the 7330 is in an early stage of firmware development. I like the RLC 's if you want to support a ham .. and a DARN good controller . Also look at the S-Com 7330 3-port controller. Will do what you need, you'll have one port left over, and it will not break the bank.
