Re: [RDD] Rddbcheck Not Finding A Zero-Length Cart

2018-07-03 Thread Chuck
Virtually the same problem I'm having on 2.10.3 on Linux Mint 17.
Occasionally, the Library module, when copying a cut and pasting it to a
new cut, actually puts the file in /var/snd/ but then the Library denies
that there is any audio in that new cut. I've got a bunch of these
supposedly zero-length tracks and rddbcheck does not find them.
Frustrating, because I do not really know how to deal with them--or even
how to find them. It was imperative to modify the original files of
dozens of tracks, and so I just ate the error, figuring maybe I will
figure out how to deal with these tracks some day, some way. I copied
the original, unedited cut to a new cut to preserve it unedited, but
those unplayable tracks that are definitely NOT zero length in /var/snd/
are now all over the library, and I cannot make the Library see that
there is audio in them. Not a permissions problem, because both the old
and new tracks have exactly the same permissions, owners, and groups.

Re: [RDD] Sound cards

2018-07-03 Thread Brandon
We're using the Digigram VX222-HR PCI Soundcard with 2+2 Analog+AES/EBU
balanced XLR i/o.

Probably one of the best sub $500 broadcast soundcards. Standard alsa
drivers work out of the box.

My favorite so far for that is the ASUS Xonar DX.

Sound quality is better than most .. quieter than most, a little higher
output than most, has an extra cable inside for analog power.

Full 7.1 analog .. that Rivendell can use as 4 separate stereo outputs.
(cue/library, rdairplay, rdcatch, panel).

[RDD] Rddbcheck Not Finding A Zero-Length Cart

2018-07-03 Thread Rich Stivers
Has anyone had a zero-length cart (red line in Rdlibrary) that Rddbcheck
doesn't find? I have one. I could
delete the cart and import it again, but I thought Rddbcheck was
supposed to find these and allow you to

fix them. This cart has the corresponding audio file in /var/snd.

Rddbcheck has worked for me in the past.

Re: [RDD] Easiest to install .. and update later on ?

2018-07-03 Thread rivdev
Hi Peter,

I just installed CentOS7 this past weekend and, aside from the weirdness of how
CentOS handles networking
(it's not activated by default), it was smooth. The URL with instructions that
you included below discusses
the networking activation step and those instructions are what I followed to
install the system.

Might be worth noting that RHEL7 is the commercial version of CentOS7. I
believe that you'll need a license/support contract with Red Hat to run RHEL7.
There is no license fee for CentOS7.

As to your question about the live cd, I don't know for Rivendell, but based on
experience with Linux and
LiveCDs, I would say that the live cd version cannot be updated.

Re: [RDD] Sound cards

2018-07-03 Thread rivdev
Hello,

I just received a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy FX PCIe 5.1 (Model
SB1570) today and put it in to an older AMD Phenom/nvidia-based machine
because the on-board sound card wasn't recognized by CentOS7.

The card was pretty much plug and play and is running now. I saw
somewhere in the archive for this list that someone else was using this
card too.

Rivendell sees two available outputs, though I'm not far enough in my
understanding of Rivendell to figure out how to use them yet.

[RDD] Easiest to install .. and update later on ?

2018-07-03 Thread Peter Claes
Hi All,

I am kinda stuck on version 2.10 in Ubuntu 14.04. Found the
ubuntu/debian install to be the easiest, but since there are some
issues with the soundcard, i would like to step into another
direction, to get a newer / lastest version of Rivendell running.

Is the LiveCD an option ? can it be update to a latest version ?

Or If I follow these instructions, using RHEL7 :
http://static.paravelsystems.com/rivendell-install/rivendell-install-rhel7.html
Will it update later on ? (Automatic or Manually)

Or might there be an even easier way ?

Would be glad to hear it from you guys.

Has anyone added multiple cuts to a cart lately using RdImport? I'm getting SQL

added without error and the next 10 all report errors. The errors appear to be
false positives because I examine the cart in RDLibrary and all 11 cuts have
been successfully added. Rddbcheck reports no errors.

If I import multiple cuts manually within RDlibrary I get no errors, however
this method is quite tedious.
