[rt-users] correspondence emails not being sent

2010-03-01 Thread John Roman
I have a problem with email from a certain queue not getting sent. a
users corresponding to the ticket should accordingto global scripts have
a message sent to all cc's and admincc's, but alas this just isnt so.

ive tried sendmail, and sendmailpipe mailertypes to resolve this issue,
but it appears to be isolated to this one queue.

Have you check the queue specific templates? Maybe you are
having the default responsed overridden with an empty/no
 response.

[rt-users] one time CC and BCC do not send

2009-11-04 Thread John Roman
Greetings,

users added in one time BCC and CC do not receive email. do these fields
have to be email addresses that exist in the realm of RT? or can they be
arbitrary? how should i go about providing some more debug information to
trace down where this problem is coming from?

im using sendmailpipe to deliver email.

Re: [rt-users] RT 3.8.1 merged tickets slow

2008-11-07 Thread JOHN ROMAN
lars,
good idea.  MySQL query logs show im pulling alot of info from various
different tickets (of course, lusers love to merge.)  curious if caching might
help the situation, as precaching and output buffer adjustments to fcgid are
now causing page render's to be lightning fast.

  any suggestions?

How many tickets are in your database?

Watch your MySQL query log to see what queries this request is
generating.  See if running the same queries by hand (via
mysqlclient)takes just as long.  This should at least help
 differentiate database
slowness from something else.  It's not a solution, but it
 may suggest
 where to focus your efforts.

 Hi John,

im using RT 3.8.1, and have googled this issue extensively to
 no avail.

  RT 3.8.1 migrated from 3.4.5
mysql 5 upgraded from mysql4 with both the RT updates
as well as the UPDATE.mysql schema updates applied apache 2.x

loading a merged ticket takes on the order of 1-2 minutes in
 some cases.
often times fetching a merged ticket results in an apache
 timeout while
  waiting on the script.

Maybe it's this: RT tries to write hundreds of messages to
syslog when opening merged tickets ...

 Try to decrease that using
   Set($LogToSyslog , 'info');
 in RT_SiteConfig.pm

I saw your followups on this issue, but I want to comment this.

Yes, these fixes I was talking about have been integrated into 3.8.0
and as well several fixes would be in 3.8.1 (3.8.1rc1 is
 available at
this moment for download from our server).

Affects: RT on mysql 4.1 and newer with utf8 as default DB charset
WHEN RT's DB was created, changing mysql options would not
 help much

Symptoms: constant login requests on every action

Check: change session handler to Apache::Session::File, if problem
goes away then it's this issue.

Otherwise issue is different and needs more investigation. In this
case (according to Mark's further comments) situation is different.

Hope this would help isolate different problems in future.

  Hiya folks,

I saw this mentioned on the list a couple months back, but
 under Gentoo,
and while the issue was related to the MySQL language
configuration, there was a note from [EMAIL PROTECTED] stating that this
 was an issue related the
default charset setting for MySQL (under Gentoo, though)
 which had been
addressed for the next release (under 3.6, so it'd be
 incorporated into
  3.8 I'm guessing).

When a user (admin user in this case) logs in, they get the
 home page,
but any subsequent clicks bring the login page up again. The
 system and
Apache logs don't reveal any errors, just a successful login
message when the logins are made.

I've checked the database and the cookie, and the RT_SID is
identical and being updated with each request. We did have
 default-character-set
as utf8 as recommended for Dovecot on the same machine, but I've
commented that out and restarted all associated services, and
 we still
  have the multiple login requests.

I'm attaching my my.cnf file below in case that's the
 culprit; I do
appreciate any suggestions that might help here.

  Environment:
   RT: 3.8.0
     OS: Oracle Linux
 5.2 (RHEL5 equivalent)
     DB: MySQL 5.0.45
  Web Server: Apache/2.2.3

Re: [rt-users] Best method to authenticate with AD

2008-08-26 Thread JOHN ROMAN
im using externalauth in 3.8.1 and it works well with our ldap, but closer
integration could be achieved via apache auth against a pam.d stack utilizing
kerberos and samba to directly authenticate with your domain controllers.  its
less expensive for windows.

you could even audit your logins to the RT system through the event viewer.

 Hi

I need to let RT authenticate users through AD. We have a number of
levels in our AD structure to separate users on geographical and
departmental reasons. On the best practice website I have read that
 there are three ways:

 1.   Apache Authentication

 2.   Mike Peachey's
 RT:Authen::ExternalAuth extension

 3.   Jim Meyer's User_Local
 Overlay(Deprecated)

Which of the three ways had work for you well and would you recommend?

 Kind regards
