[rt-users] RT4 & asset tracker

2011-09-15 Thread Aaron Zuercher
Hello,
Happy RT 3.8 user here. I am interested in adding AssetTracker to my
install to use for inventory. I'm wondering if I should move to RT4 at the
same time? Does AT play well with RT4?

Thanks,
Aaron

Thanks,
I'll stick with 3.8 for now. Where is the latest code for AT? I've seen a
google code page and a github page and I'm not sure where the most current
code is.

Re: [rt-users] kiosk mode?

2011-11-10 Thread Aaron Zuercher
Most modern browsers have the option of saving login and password
information for websites. They would still have to click OK but the
credentials would be saved for them.

I know IE has a kiosk mode that can hide all toolbars/buttons. Not sure if
other browser can do this.

Re: [rt-users] AT 2.0 on RT 4.0.5 - Doesn't work

2012-03-02 Thread Aaron Zuercher
Thats unfortunate but I understand people have lives to live and other
priorities.

I do have a question: is there a certain version of AT + RT that does work
completely? I'm running 3.8.11 and AT 2.0b2 and import/export is broken
(i found a long bug report in github about it). And this thread is for AT
4.0.5 which is broken as well. So is there a version in the middle that
actually works?

[rt-users] queue disabled but still getting tickets

2012-08-08 Thread Aaron Zuercher
I have disabled one of my queues to prevent new ticket submission but new
tickets are still showing up. How to I stop this? I don't want to remove
the queue because I want to reopen it in a month.

I disabled it by going to TOOLS > CONFIG > QUEUES and unchecking enabled
box.

[rt-users] multiple queues

2010-01-22 Thread Aaron Zuercher
I'm expanding my RT install to include a 2nd queue. In testing it looks
like the new tickets in that queue are number sequentially with the old
queue. I searched archives and found an old post from 2001 stating this is
by design. (http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/rt/users/10820#10820) Has
8 years of development changed this?

Re: [rt-users] multiple queues

2010-01-22 Thread Aaron Zuercher
too bad, I would have like the option to keep them seperate.

I'm no programmer but it seem to me a easy method to implement would be to
number tickets with que#.ticket# (01.1056). I believe qu eues are given a
unique number after they are created.

Thanks.

[rt-users] move to new server and upgrade

2008-10-20 Thread Aaron Zuercher
Hello,
I've been using RT 3.6.0 for awhile in my organization with great success.
I'd like to move it to a new box and at the same time upgrade to lastest
version. Can someone advise me on the best method for doing this? I assume
I can't take data out of my 3.6 database and import directly into the 3.8
database?

So would it be best to upgrade to 3.8 before export or intall 3.6 on new
server adn then upgrade after importing?

Thanks,

[rt-users] Another ExternalAuth question - "strict refs"

2008-11-05 Thread Aaron Zuercher
Hi guys,
I've been following the discussions about ExternalAuth with great interest
as I"ve been slowly working to move my 3.6.0 install to the most current
version. I'm trying to setup ExternalAuth to LDAP currently. When its
enabled I get this message in the browser when I try to login:

Can't use string ("My_LDAP") as an ARRAY ref while "strict refs" in use at
/opt/rt3/local/plugins/RT-Authen-ExternalAuth/lib/RT/User_Vendor.pm line
728, line 273.

I cannot login as root (local) or LDAP. I installed ExternaAUth v006 which
I understand has a bug in it but i'm not sure if this is the same error or
something different. Can somone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Aaron

Re: [rt-users] Another ExternalAuth question - "strict refs"

2008-11-05 Thread Aaron Zuercher
A followup:

I looked at the User_Vendor.pm file in the error and commented out the "use
strict;" line at the beginning of the file. now I can login as root but not
LDAP. I'm not a programmer so I don't understand the sigificance of that
statement. Will my "fix" cause any other errors/problems? Is there a
better option?

Thanks

[rt-users] how to do multiple separate approval sources

2012-10-30 Thread Aaron Zuercher
Hi all,
My school district has been using RT for IT for many years with great
success. We are looking to expand the use and add approvals. I have setup
a basic approval queue and am testing that but I'm not sure how to expand
it to cover multiple buildings.

Here's the use scenario: We what principals of each building (7 total) to
be able to approve tickets from the staff of just their building. I have
setup a custom field in the tickets where they requester can select the
building they are in. Is there a way to script the approval so that if
custom field = building 1 then approval goes to principal 1, etc? Or do I
need to setup separate queues for each building?

I'm confused about what is the best approach to this problem. Any advice is
appreciated!

Hello,
I've been using RT since 3.x days and last week I moved from 4.2.12 to

Is the problem the "ExternalAuthID" in mySQL (per the logs)? or a
misconfiguration?

Markus,
Thanks for the tip. You were correct that I had an ExternalAuthID set in
RT_Siteconfig.

Re: [rt-users] RT upgrade or clean installation? (Debian)

2016-09-20 Thread Aaron Zuercher
I have migrated RT to a new box/OS multiple times in our years of use.
What I do is spin up a VM with my OS of choice and install the exact same
version of RT as my old server. I then dump the DB and import into the
new server and verify data is correct and RT is operational.Lastly, I
proceed with the upgrade to the latest version of RT. It has always been
pretty painless but I don't have a lot of customization in RT.
