Only if you're totally clueless idiot.

This is what I call potential:

Spencer Pennington's high school career:
* Led his team to the 4A championship game

* 6,333 yards passing in three seasons

* 41 touchdown passes in his Junior and Senior years
combined

If you can't see that as potential, you're as stupid as
Phil Harbison.

You're full of shit. See his high school numbers again
if you don't believe me. The boy has potential. He just
needs good coaching to help him achieve/realize that
potential.

AH! A MORAL VICTORY!

Jason, get over it. When Bama can play a complete season
without QUITTING as they did in the South Carolina game
this year, then we'll talk about progress.

Walden Tucker is the Fayette coach, father of Lance and Luke Tucker. He's
not Spencer's dad. Unless you're referring to him playing for his dad in
junior high or something.

That's illogical. That sentence virtually MAKES the point that the problem
is that he's just not very good, despite having three different coaches.

Kind of like how we are with Kines, who is currently trotting out the No. 1
defense in America? It's Shula's offense, not Rader's, and Shula has PLENTY
of input into coaching QB's.

Sure. Whatever. That sounds like something Huge would throw out.

So the presumptive SEC East champion Tennessee -- at their place -- isn't
"worth a damn?" Wow. But until your dire predictions of our defense's demise
come true, we're the No. 1 defense in America.

> What the hell's come over you? It wasn't that long ago

Because I've seen this team make a lot of progress this season, and I think
the staff is doing a great job under the circumstances. If you recall, in
August I said I expected a 6-5 season and a minor bowl game. That was BEFORE
we lost our starting QB, RB and FB for the SEASON.

It will come before the bowl game.

You're becoming the same type of fan Huge isbitch first -- and often --
cheer later. We've got FAR too many of those in our "fan" base.

He also played football...QB, I do believe. And he's
also the son of a coach, if I'm not mistaken. That's
normally a pretty good foundation for becoming a decent
college QB. At least one that you don't have to worry

It's called hyperbole...sarcasm to make a point. I'll point it out from now
on.

Spencer, to my recollection, has never been a very good QB. He was a
baseball player at Fayette who committed to MSU before changing his mind and
deciding to come to Alabama when Fran brought promises of an option offense
to the Capstone. He was tutored at that time by the brilliant (sarcasm) Les
Koenning, who is famous for molding great passers Andrew Zow and Tyler Watts
(sarcasm.) He may have looked good in some scrimmages. Hell, he probably
looks good in practice at times also. But that's slightly different
(sarcasm) from making great throws against Tennessee et al.

So now we're complaining that he has in the past "looked strong," but now he
sucks because his position coach isn't "decent," laying aside the fact his
HEAD coach was a QB coach in the NFL.

OR, it just might be (sarcasm) that he was THIRD STRING for a reason going
in to the 2004 season, and that he's just not a very good quarterback.

Maybe you'll get your way and we'll fire the architect of the No. 1 defense
in AMERICA and fire Rader so we can find a "decent" position coach who can
turn Spencer back into the fine quarterback he once was (sarcasm).

And as for your derisive comments directed toward our head coach about the
Prothro package, you might be surprised by the end of the year, given what
I've heard this week.

My initial comment was just a reflection I have of him during A-Day a
couple of years ago. I remember him making some good strong throws in
that scrimmage and he looked posed in the pocket. But you are right
about real game action. There's no good example to draw from.

[RollTideFan] QB Problems?

2004-11-01 Thread Rick Mc.
Bama's not the only traditional school with QB issues. Take a look at
Big Red's problems...

--
Nebraska QB Joe Dailey
Dailey has been here before, but he continues to have problems with the
Nebraska offense. Even so, he's going to be the starting quarterback of
the Big XII North champion. After a four of 18 for 25-yard performance
in the 24-3 win over Missouri, Dailey has completed seven of 30 passes
(23%) for 141 yards over the last two games. On the year, Dailey has
completed 98 of 202 passes for 1,415 yards and 14 touchdowns with 13
interceptions.
--

:(
Maybe this week's MSU game will be the one when Spence turns it around,
regains his confidence and plays the way I saw him play a couple of
years ago in an A-Day game. It wasn't that long ago that Spencer looked
strong at the QB position.

RDTR!
