I have a few 1 teflon stir bars $7 each, free shipping. [That's my cost ]
I stopped selling them because they ARE too expensive and don't work as
well as the ones I make using much stronger magnets.

 Those..a set of 2 for $3..free shipping.
Cheezy and primitive looking magnets in a plastic tube, but they hook
up like nobodies bidness.

PS I also have a number of the older circuit boards that were made for the
wrong power input plug.

$5...you populate it with common parts from the shack
It'll save several hours of running wires on a breadboard.
Add $5 for a little black box to house it in. [the shack doesn't have those ]
Current control, adjustable or set from microamps to around 6 milliamps.
Automatic water monitoring off function...adjustable or set
AC or DC input up to 36 volts...DC only output.

Voltage determines ion velocity.

Current controls the rate of ion emission.

Low voltage doesn't accelerate the ions far enough away from the
electrode for it not to be sucked back on by the time the polarity changes.
Somewhere between 5 to 20 thousand volts will do at 50 Hz. [Neon light

Is 50Hz too high a frequency for the preparation of colloidal/ionic silver?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Re: CSNew member.

2007-11-12 Thread Marshall Dudley
If you use AC you must understand that there are two reactions that
occur at the electrode. One is an oxidizing reaction and the other
reducing. They alternate between them at the frequency. So anything
that gets produced at the electrode is immediately neutralized the next
half cycle. The result is that very little if any CS can be made by 24
volts at 50 or 60 hertz. What is required is for the products to leave
the electrode sufficiently far, to not get sucked right back and
neutralized the next half cycle. For around 20 to 30 volts, that is a 2
minute cycle (with stirring), and with 50 hertz it is about 9 KV, and at
60 hertz it is 10 KV. You can make very good CS using 50 or 60 hertz at
these higher voltages, I did it for years myself.

Hi. Just dropping a quick note to say hello and get off to a bad start

I've been playing with simple colloidal silver makers based on .999
silver rods with a single PP3 9V cell and a resistor and high
sensitivity LED in series. I've had to make do with tap water since
getting distilled water is surprisingly difficult in Scotland where
our tap water is one of the purest available, and thus bottled water
has the same status as a bottle of cola. (Just a handy drink.)

The results have been the fine mist of ionic silver and the inevitable
darkening of the fluid over time as the ionic silver bonded with the
tiny amount of chlorine and nitrates present in the water.

Last night I stumbled across the technique of using AC to make a less
ionic solution and promptly built a new version that is powered by a
24Vac wall wart connected to the electrodes via a 1k resistor and two
LEDs in inverse parallel so they both light on the AC and don't
rectify the supply.

I left it on all day today and the water shows no sign of the usual
misting from the electrodes and has remained absolutely clear. A test
with the resistive style dissolved solids tester showed that water
from the tap had 40ppm impurities while the treated water was
identical. H.

A test with a fairly high output green laser showed fresh water had
little absorption, but the treated water had quite a strong line and
sparkle to it suggesting that there is some form of silver going into
the liquid.

Is 50Hz too high a frequency for the preparation of colloidal/ionic
silver?

Any comments would be appreciated.

I wish there was an easy way to get a genuine measurement of the

Yes, I published the equation for it years ago on this list. I don't
remember the equation any more, but for 2 minute cycle time it comes out
to about 20 volts, for 50 hertz about 9 KV and for 60 hertz about 10 KV.

Depends on what you mean by AC and more. With a low voltage system, and
reversing the voltage every minute, it produces smaller particles.
Since they are smaller, then there will be more numerically than if they
were large, but the total weight of the particles may be less. Adding
stirring makes this even more so. If you are using 10 KV and 60 htz,
then it is will because of the violent movement of ions around the
electrode cause them to combine into particles more easily. But this
also limits the maximum ppm one can make with HVAC to under 10 ppm, and
you have to use freezing water with a cooler to even do that.

Marshall
I do know that some people here add a small quantity of H2O2 (hydrogen
peroxide) some time after the CS is made and feel that this increases
the percentage of metallic silver particles.

At a minimum. . is fine as well.

How long should this rod be, if it is 2 millimeter in diameter?
Depends on the current you are running. Aim for 1 mA per square inch or

And what metal should the cathode then be?
Silver is best. Gold can be used. I know some use stainless steel, but
I am not convinced that it does not get involved. Silver must be used
if you are using polarity reversing, since the anode and cathode swap
each half cycle.

And please freshen us up about the time for the best home-made silver

Depends on the current, and how many ppm you want. Use the Fairday

  Is it cream or liquid?

DMSO is a liquid. It can be mixed with things to make a cream.
Do you just rub it on or can you drink it?

Some people drink it, I never have.

Are there tablets?

No, you cannot put a volatile liquid into a tablet.

Faith,
You can get medical grade from a veterinarian or you can
buy 99.9% at horse feed/supply stores. It isn't
expensive. It comes in liquid and gel. We use the
liquid. There are equine supply stores on line that you
can also buy from.

Re: CSNew member.

2007-11-12 Thread Tony Moody
Hi Big Clive,

Welcome. Mains frequency tends to strip and re-plate because the 'particles' do
not have
time to escape the field around the rod it is being stripped from, so you end
up with virtually
no silver in the water. That was one of the theories anyway. The
stripping/re-plating effect
goes on even when running dc, but stirring usually brings fresh electrolyte to
the rods.

I usually run at 1mA per sq inch and with well water there seems to be enough
silver in 250ml
in the order of less than 5 minutes. Distilled water should require
considerably more time.

Yes we would all like a reasonably priced measuring device for accurate,
sensible answers.

Hi. Just dropping a quick note to say hello and get off to a bad start
 by asking awkward questions

I wish there was an easy way to get a genuine measurement of the
amount of colloidal and ionic silver present in a solution.

There's a suggestion that AC might result in a greater amount of
elemental silver being created in the water as opposed to the ionic
silver from the use of plain DC.

Is there any worthwhile advantage to using AC ?
If you are talking about HVAC then it can make CS more rapidly than LVDC
(with or without polarity reversing) since it does not require you to
maintain 1 mA or less current per square inch to get good product.

If there was, more of us would be doing it, would we not ?
Depends on what you mean by AC. Many if not most of us do use polarity
reversal, which is a low frequency AC. I certainly do, 1 minute per half
cycle.. If you mean higher frequencies like 60 hertz, then I doubt it,
not many people want to deal with 10,000 volts, nor purchase $2,000
worth of liquid refrigeration equipment.. I used to, but was limited to
about 10 PPM, and needed to go to 20 PPM.

Surely anyone can wire one diode or a simple full wave bridge into the

I would certainly think so. But I prefer to use a bench supply, which
allows me to change the voltage, and read the current easily. I use a
7805 with a resistor to make it constant current.

I must be missing something, .. or someone else is.

Not sure what you mean.

CSideas for possible speedier healing

Anyhow, I am now left with a raw nail bed, rather sore to walk on

Because of the bleeding I couldn't put any arnica around the rest of
the toe that received just the trauma but no torn skin, so the
swelling will be slower to come down. umm.. wasn't quite my day

Would anyone have any suggestions towards a speedy healing of this

Thanks for all input

Undiluted DMSO is not the best idea.
DMSO works best at dilutions of 10% to 70%, and usually at 50% or
less.
It just works better.

I don't know much about CS, but I know emu oil works wonders AND it relieves
pain.

I hinked up my knee somehow last week, and could barely stand to hobble
around on it. I grabbed the bottle of emu oil I ordered online the week
before;) and poured out a little about the size of a dime and rubbed into my
poor sore knee. By golly it worked like a charm!

I bought it mainly for my really dry skin, but the claims were that it
helped with pain too, so I tried it, and it worked!

It's supposed to help with scarring too. Hmmm, I wonder if I could mix a
little CS with it? Emu oil penetrates ALL the layers of skin so it acts like
a carrier, sort of like DMSO, but not.

I can't say enough good things about what it did for my knee. By golly I was
almost in tears it hurt so badly. And the effect lasted 4-6 hours after
which I just reapplied it. It only took a couple of days applying it, and I
was good as new!

I'll bet it would carry CS right through the skin too! I haven't tried that
yet, has anyone else? I know there's Silvadene, that's supposed to reduce
scarring too, but you can only get Silvadene by prescription I think. I'll
bet emu oil and cs would work just as good or better!

, I took the bandage off, wound
doesn't look too bad, sorta, painted
toe with undiluted DMSO, bit hesitant to put on wound ..more so
because of the burning effect than that it might cause adverse reaction.
Undiluted DMSO is not the best idea.
DMSO works best at dilutions of 10% to 70%, and usually at 50% or
less.
It just works better.

Did you hear about the cat who swallowed a ball of wool?
 She had mittens.

Why don't cats play poker in the jungle? Too many cheetahs.

 so far
 can't really see a difference.

Not sure if it is just me but having most things at my fingertips
here. DMSO, pulsers, CS, zapper, and other things.. when it comes to
an emergency for self, I have something of a blank, at least for a
little while, as to what course to take my brain into gear for the
first aid. Not a problem when it is for someone else... thank
goodness for that.

Thank you all for being here.. and jumping in and get my own
thinking jump-started.

This toe-thing has reminded me too to get Dr Morton Walkers' book -
DMSO Nature's Healer, at last. Been on the list of books wanted long enough.
