He does about 2 cc's, which takes about 10 minutes to nebulize. How much
DMSO should I add to this much CS? If the answer is in percent, then
percent by what (ie volume...mass...etc)? Any safety concerns? I'm just
washing the nebulizer out with tap water between uses.

He's always coughed up mucus, which got a lot better after alt. treatment
for the cancer he has, a little of which touched his lungs. But he still
has some mucus and coughing going on, and his voice has always been
raspy. I think he smoked ages ago. He's done a lot of nebulized
peroxide. I don't know what concentration, but a doctor gave that to us
in bottles. I suppose you wouldn't want to do nebulized peroxide close
to nebulized CS as a safety thing also.

Lin, Polysorbate 20 is added to solubilize peppermint oil. 45 ppm is too high
of a concentration and may coalesce the silver, thereby reducing efficacy. My
understanding from serious researchers is that plain silver remains colloidal
up to 9-10 ppm but it remains to be seen what happens to the colloidal when
surfactants and other ingredients are added. Do you have the number of the

Add one teas. xylitol to 8 ounces of Cs and stir till dissolved. You
may add a few drops or 1/5 teas DMSO or MSM if available-makes it a
little more effective. Put the solution in an old nasal spray bottle

Polysorbate 20 is an emulsifier, like soap or a detergent. It is used to
keep things in suspension that would otherwise fall out. It is likely
the way they are able to maintain 45 ppm of colloidal silver without
stability problems. It might be an indication that the particles of
silver are too large to stay in suspension by themselves.

there are no incurable illnesses-only incurable people.

Normal nasal cleaning is very much like cleaning the kitchen floor.
When the floor is dirty the first thing we do is sweep it. It's the
same with the nose. The broom for the nose are the microscopic hairs
called cilia that protrude from the cells that line our airway. We
also have the benefit of mucus in the nose, like the saw dust or other
chemicals that we sometimes put on floor to trap the dust and other
material we want removed. We normally make about a teaspoon of mucus
every five minutes. The mucus is sticky and traps almost all of the
foreign particles that we breathe. The cilia beat between 8 and 12
times a second and it takes them about 15 minutes to literally sweep
the mucus to the back of the nose where we swallow it. This sweeping
works twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week and is usually very
effective. There are, however, some environmental factors that effect
this sweeping:

Dry air and not drinking enough water makes the mucus drier and harder
to clear.

   *

Most colds occur in the winter when we dry our air with central
heating and don't have the same urge to drink that we have in the
summer.
   *

This is the season for most ear infections as well as colds.

The highest incidence of ear infections in this country, and probably
the world, is in the Native American children in Alaska. Tribal elders
tell us that before these people were civilized they did not have
problems with their ears. Part of the civilizing was putting them in
homes instead their traditional houses that were more open to the
elements. The relative humidity in the winter in their traditional
environment is close to 100% while that in a well insulated house is
closer to 30% at best. These people had adapted over the thousands of
years they lived in this climate, and are having trouble with the
newer, nicer, but dryer environment. One of the practices these native
peoples used to have was wrapping their babies warmly and taking them
out into the cold every day. Cold air means that the nose needs a lot
more blood to warm the air, and that means more fluid in the nose that
helps to wash it out. Doctors think that these people get ear
infections because they are genetically disposed to them by the shape
of the Eustachian Canal in the back of the nose. But the same tribal
elders point out that children from the same genetic pool living in a
more traditional environment in Nome's sister city of Provideniya,
Siberia do not have trouble with their ears today. Our doctors say
they are just not diagnosed, but it does not take a doctor to tell
that a screaming child that pulls on his ear or complains of an ear
ache has a problem, especially when it drains a few days later. Tribal
elders usually have more wisdom than we like to acknowledge.

Besides the environmental factors, things that hurt the cilia will
also lead to more problems.

   *

Cigarette smoke, even passive smoke from someone else, is toxic to the
cilia. Smokers and their families are only sweeping with half a broom
or less. If there is enough smoke the cilia don't sweep at all. This
is why some pediatricians consider it child abuse for parents to smoke
when their children are around.

The cilia and mucus working together clean out the great majority of
bacteria and other pollutants that enter the nose. When we look at the
back of the nose with a microscope we can see the bacteria caught in
the mucus and riding on top of the cilia. These bacteria are not going
to cause problems. In normal cleaning they are swallowed along with
the mucus and are killed by the acid in our stomachs. In order to
cause infections bacteria must find a place in the back of the nose
where there is no mucus protecting the cells. Even most of these
bacteria are killed by our own antibacterial substances in the airway
surface fluid that bathes these cells.

If we cannot remove the dirt from the kitchen floor with sweeping then
we need to get out the soap and water. It's the same with the nose.
Irritants in the nose, whether they are infectious (viruses and
bacteria) or allergenic, trigger special cells called mast cells.
These cells release granules that contain histamine and an enzyme
called tryptase. The tryptase acts like soap and makes the mucus
thinner. Histamine does four things in the back of the nose:

   *

it opens blood vessels in the nose so that they leak ? the water for
this washing.
   *

it makes more mucus to trap more of the pollutants.
   *

it irritates us so we sneeze more and get rid of it.
   *

it causes broncho-constriction that protects

CSNew nasal sprayer

2011-02-03 Thread Renee
I don't know if others have seen this or not, but it's a first for me, as I
almost never look in the OTC med section of any store. But I've been having
some serious sinus issues this past week and finally decided it just wasn't
going away on its own like it normally does. So I went to Walgreens to see
about buying a nasal mister that I could pry the cap off of and fill with CS

To my surprise I found the BEST sprayer. It's called SinuCleanse Kids Mist.
It was developed by a children's doctor. It is extremely sturdy, the fill
part being solid clear blue plastic. It has a pump on top with a long tube
mister attached. The tube snugs down into a small clamp like device to keep
it from moving around if you are carrying it in your purse. You unclamp the
tube so that you can unscrew the top to refill it. The tube can actually be
bent upwards at the end to angle it better into the nose.

It came with 3 containers of 'non-drug' liquid which is, of course, saline
solution. The main part of the container holds 100 measured sprays, so
enough to last a long time before needing to refill.

It can be thrown into a purse or pocket and it won't leak. The spray comes
out as a very fine mist. The spray end is small so that it will fit into a
child's nostril, but that just makes it easy to put inside an adult nose
without feeling like it's filled your whole nose like you do with an adult
spray bottle.

I've filled it with CS and sprayed my nose and my throat and inhaled into my
lungs. Very nice, very handy.

It cost $10 and I think it will prove to be worth it, as it's going to last
a very long time before a part wears out. The Afrin I was looking at,
walgreens own brand, was $5 for a bottle that I would have had to force the
top off of, and it's large to carry around, plus (because I did buy it too)
it does not mist anywhere near as good as the Child's Mist.

At least in humans, insulin is released when tasting something sweet.
That is why things like diet drinks can work against you, the drop in
blood sugar makes you really hungry, so you end up eating the calories
anyway. However further research has indicated that the insulin release
in dogs is NOT from the sweet taste, and I assumed that was the case in
dogs because it can be in humans. Also there appears to be kidney
damage in dogs as well.

Puppies and dogs
http://www.gopetsamerica.com/dog-health/hypoglycemia.aspx# can develop
severe hypoglycemia after consuming sugar-free gum sweetened with the
sugar-alcohol xylitol. In humans, xylitol has little to no effect on
plasma insulin
http://www.gopetsamerica.com/medical-terms/hormones_pancreas.aspx or
glucose levels, but in dogs xylitol is a strong promoter of insulin
release and can cause severe hypoglycemia with collapse and seizures.
With the increased appearance of xylitol-sweetened products in the US,
xylitol toxicosis in dogs may become more common. Sometimes, a dog

outgrow this condition.

lungs. Very nice, very handy.

It cost $10 and I think it will prove to be worth it, as it's going to last
a very long time before a part wears out. The Afrin I was looking at,
walgreens own brand, was $5 for a bottle that I would have had to force the
top off of, and it's large to carry around, plus (because I did buy it too)
it does not mist anywhere near as good as the Child's Mist.

wasn't going away on its own like it normally does. So I went to Walgreens
to see about buying a nasal mister that I could pry the cap off of and fill
 with CS.

To my surprise I found the BEST sprayer. It's called SinuCleanse Kids
Mist. It was developed by a children's doctor. It is extremely sturdy, the
fill part being solid clear blue plastic. It has a pump on top with a long
tube mister attached. The tube snugs down into a small clamp like device to
keep it from moving around if you are carrying it in your purse. You
unclamp the tube so that you can unscrew the top to refill it. The tube can
actually be bent upwards at the end to angle it better into the nose.

I've filled it with CS and sprayed my nose and my throat and inhaled into

Hi Marshall, The appended comprehensive Canadian study illustrates the research
that shows the rapid oxidation and very low absorption rates of polyols in
humans with a negligible, if any, increase in insulin. Setting this fact aside,
my question was related to the interesting assertion that tasting sweetness
increases insulin release.
You also mention “ In humans, xylitol has little to no effect on plasma insulin
or glucose”?

At least in humans, insulin is released when tasting something sweet. That is
why things like diet drinks can work against you, the drop in blood sugar makes
you really hungry, so you end up eating the calories anyway. However further
research has indicated that the insulin release in dogs is NOT from the sweet
taste, and I assumed that was the case in dogs because it can be in humans.
Also there appears to be kidney damage in dogs as well.

http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/xylitol.asp

Weird, I tried to copy the appropriate section to the clipboard, but it won't
copy, tried on two different computers.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xylitol#Dogs

Dogs that have ingested foods containing high levels of xylitol (greater than
100 milligrams of xylitol consumed per kilogram of bodyweight) have presented
with low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), which can be life-threatening.

The paper:

^ Dunayer, E.K (2004) Hypoglycemia following canine ingestion of
xylitol-containing gum, Veterinary and Human Toxicology 46(2):87-88

http://www2.aspca.org/site/DocServer/vetm0207f_095-100_.pdf?docID=10462

http://www.gopetsamerica.com/dog-health/hypoglycemia.aspx

Puppies and dogs can develop severe hypoglycemia after consuming sugar-free gum
sweetened with the sugar-alcohol xylitol. In humans, xylitol has little to no
effect on plasma insulin or glucose levels, but in dogs xylitol is a strong
promoter of insulin release and can cause severe hypoglycemia with collapse and
seizures. With the increased appearance of xylitol-sweetened products in the
US, xylitol toxicosis in dogs may become more common. Sometimes, a dog will
outgrow this condition.

non-glucose-releasing compound, triggers insulin?

The mechanism is interesting. From what I understand when they taste the
sweetness, the automatic nervous system immediately starts pumping insulin into
their system to handle the sugar, but no sugar arrives, and their blood sugar
plummetsm sometimes to the point of death.
