very sensibly put MA! And thank you for your felicitations about my computer and my mental health! You are absolutely right of course, I would be going mad now if I didn't have my laptop while big brother is in 'hospital'! After all, I would not have discovered CS if I hadn't been able to use my computer, and I wouldn't have been able to communicate with all you wonderful folks on the list would I? Well why don't you ask away then? Everyone always chips in when someone has a question or a problem; its just that the list was quiet so something else came up to chat about. dee Helen Martin wrote: I only came back because I finally purchased a silver puppy and thought I might have questions or learn from others' experience.. however, I'm on the verge of quitting again.. Re: CShear hear! seconded...
Hi all, This will be my last post before I un-subscribe. It appears that a number of people are unaware of how and when to use the off topic list, and also unaware of many general health support groups available on the internet. As a result the silver list, a pretty specific subject all in itself, is overloaded with posts. The only thing missing now is posts on how to make a nice cuppa and detailed knitting patterns. On other topic specific lists, any off topic posts are considered spam. Wishing everyone all the best and good health. Hanneke At 12:59 AM 24/08/2008, you wrote: Well why don't you ask away then? I understand where you are all coming from .. but personally, I enjoy this list immensely ... if something is off topic, click it off, you don't have to read it. Honestly, I have learned more on this list than on other lists that are subject specific. I enjoy the information that is presented, where it be CS specific or other. I think the people on this list are very intelligent and present subjects with more ability and foresight than most other lists to which I have subscribed. Please keep on doing what you are doing .. I am enjoying this list .. Thank you, Judy **It's only a deal if it's where you want to go. Find your travel deal here. (http://information.travel.aol.com/deals?ncid=aoltrv000547)
Re: CShear hear! seconded...
I do feel that this is a shame because you have always had such a positive and helpful input Hanneke. I must say that I have not noticed the silver list being overloaded with posts at all, indeed, I thought that that was why the other topics were being posted. I personally don't like the off topic list as it gets very confrontational which this list almost never has before, therefore I apologize to all whom it has offended, for posting about my computer problems. dee Hanneke wrote: Hi all, This will be my last post before I un-subscribe. LOL) As long as the off-topic posts are related to health issues (well, even the computer post was related to health -- your mental health Dee, right?)I don't think they're out of line as long as they don't go on forever. As far as new people are concerned, well if I was recommending this list to someone, I would probably forewarn them that off-topic stuff does come up once in awhile. Perhaps that could be mentioned in a *welcome letter* to new members, Mike, if such a thing exists. I think that only a complete skeptic (to CS), or an absolute newbie to the concept of internet chat groups (does such a person exist?) would blow off an internet group because of off-topic or odd posts. And I think it's sad that intelligent people who are members of this list would be willing to leave because the list isn't performing in the way that they'd like. Personally, I'm willing to ignore a lot of *crap* in order to read the occasional valuable nugget of information that I'd otherwisenot have access to. JMHO, of course.
