[RCSE] World Air Games 2009 Standings

2008-06-14 Thread Ron Scharck
After the USA National World Air Games 2009 Selection Contest that was held
in Poway this Friday a week ago, the top 16 pilots eligible for an
invitation at this time are as follows according to Guy Revel of the
FAI/CIAM:

According to the short list of 8 top placers at Poway, the present (partial)
ranking is as follows:

Nation World ranking Best 2 contests out of
Sacha Monnom BEL 616,23 2
Oleg Golovidov USA 547,72 1
Massimiliano Sacchi ITA 524,96 2
Ricardas Siumbris LTU 400,00 1
Mark Stockton RSA 374,54 2
Kevin Botherway NZL 374,17 1
David Claeys BEL 308,11 2
Stephane DuPonsel RSA 298,61 2
Paul Anderson USA 273,86 1
Stefano Corno ITA 229,13 1
Carlo Cobianchi ITA 214,56 2
Olivier Leroy BEL 212,74 3
Vitalijus Pilkionis LTU 200,00 1
Alan Smith RSA 194,72 2
Joe Wurts NZL 187,08 1
Phil Barnes USA 182,57 1
Alberto Consolini ITA 179,16 2
Lionel Smith RSA 161,80 2

So if everything was stopped right now, there would be 3 US pilots invited.
This will change with more contests, for example there are two more
scheduled in New Zealand, more contests in the US would almost certainly
increase the number of US pilots at WAG.

Note: Most of the other pilots have all flown in two contests.

Re: [RCSE] WAG contest.. The real Story :-)

2008-06-14 Thread LJolly

Craig,
At the risk of getting to mushy over the Stahl man here. I mean he has
taken some interesting positions over the years. But, he is also a very good
timer caller. Yea it is amazing how much more Gordy knows now that I have
spent
some time getting to know him. LJ

Gordy only told part of the Story

I talked Gordy into flying in the WAG contest the Friday before the IHLGF...
I brought 3 planes with me, so I figured what's the worst that could
happen...He could destroy one of my backups... No big deal :-) Well on the
way to
the field my brakes failed and I had to take a turn really fast... Like a
40mph U turn :-) Well that shifted everything in the van and broke my #2
planes
boom... So now I'm down to 2 planes. Still no big deal if Gordy destroys one..
Right... So I show up at the field and Gordy is itching to fly..

I pull out the plane check that everything works and give it a toss..
Straight up.. No control.. Straight down.. Well kind of... Through the
telephone
lines and into Bruce Davidson's rental car... Someone was on my frequency!!!
:-(((

So now I'm down to ONE plane If U have ever flown in the IHLGF its
almost impossible to go all weekend with just one plane... Shit happens :-
hehe

So now I'm like... Crap.. But oh well who cares? Not me :-)

I gave Gordy my word and that's more important to me... So I hand Gordy my
ONLY plane and let him go at it... For not being " A Hand-launch Guy" he had a
decent launch.. He flies the crap out of it.. Like he's been flying it for
years... He even new how to handle a Futaba 9C transmitter...H???

In the back of my mind I'm figuring something is going to happen..

Well it did..

Gordy using a plane he had only 20-30 min of flying time on kicked some
serious ass... He was 5th going into the fly-offs...The only reason he didn't
do
well in the fly-offs was the weather conditions really deteriorated, the sun
was almost down, and lift was non-existent.. It became a who can launch the
highest and cover contest...

How did I do with the very same plane? Not so good... All these years I
thought I lived in the State of California.. But now I realize I live in the
State of Denial!!!

My flying sucks :-))

I know some of you who have never meet Gordy probably think he really lives
is in his mothers basement or a Mental Institution making up stories on the
Internet about flying all over the world... Well as much as I hate to say
it... Gordy really is a good stick and a good ambassador for our hobby

Craig.. Gun to my head :-)

Should be easy to fix. The Stylus allows different differential amounts to
be set in launch, landing, normal, and speed modes. Go to the differential
menu, pull down on the flap stick so that you enter landing mode and adjust
the amount of differential you want.

Good luck,

Well with a raffle like that you should surely make your numbers.

Some awesome prizes, so I bought a sh*#load of tickets.
Hope I win. And if I don't oh well it was a great donation. (Better than
the Casino)

I just might even buy more before July 18th.
Then again a jacket would be cool... Do you have any raincoats? :-)
(raining here again)

Thanks very much to everyone that has made this fundraising
campaign as
successful as it has been. We are about 1 week away from departure
now and
getting very excited! We are still working towards the final $3000
need to
balance our budget. Your generous sales and contributions have
raised about
$2000 in the last 2 weeks. This is phenomenal… We recently were
made aware
of an accounting problem from the AMA and it added about $800 to our
fundraising needs. We are putting a final push on to close the budget
deficit.

We will continue to take raffle sales through our return on the
8th of July.
The following Saturday the 12th of July we will draw the winners.
We will
be closing all merchandise sales on Friday 6/20/2008. We still
have a large
stock of tee shirts short/long sleeve, pockets and not. We wanted
to offer
free shipping on any in-stock order, but it was too hard to manage the
inventory, SO we are offering FREE shipping on all new orders
placed now
through next Friday. We will ship all in-stock orders before we
leave. Any
order with items not in stock will be ordered from the printer but
will need
to wait for our return to be fulfilled.

a great deal.

Don’t forget the great raffle. It is actually a better source of income for
the team as every dollar goes directly to the team, With the merchandise
sales we make about $7-$10 on each item on average and it is a lot more
work.

The team is well prepared to compete hard for the World Championship. Your
support had made it possible for us to get this far. Please look at our
