I also had to fight for 2 days to get the right one downloaded an installed.
It seems that using the 3d software is much easier than downloading the right
pack and getting it licensed.
There must be a horde of guys working on the other side to make certain things
as complicated as they could be ;)
Btw can I get my two days back ?

Re: Downloading Entertainment Creation Suite

2015-09-30 Thread Matt Lind
The Softimage SIGGRAPH dinner already happened this year. SIGGRAPH 2016
will be in Anaheim, California July 24-28, 2016.

Barring significant developments, I'm tentatively planning the next dinner
being the 15th and final dinner.

I would like it to be well attended. Every year has been intentionally
simple and very casual so people can relate to each other as people, and not
as a customer to a sale's pitch for a product, service, or bought loyalty.
I would like to keep that integrity, but perhaps make the event a little
more than it has been. Softimage employees said their impromptu goodbye in
Montreal shortly after the retirement was announced last year, but the users
didn't have their chance yet. In 2016 they will. Official support will
have ended, and users will need to accept it's time to move on or forever
remain the Jurassic era of computer graphics.

It's too early to give specifics, but the dinner will likely be held at it's
usual Sunday timeslot to open the week. Venue and other details yet to be
decided. At SIGGRAPH 2013 in Anaheim, the dinner was held at Ralph
Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney. I'll probably go somewhere else
for 2016 as Disney is a pain-in-the-arse to deal with.

PS - you can make a geodesic sphere out of NURBS with the little known
"PNet" operator which was part of XSI 1.0, but quickly buried when the NURBS
toolset couldn't be completed. The operator is still functional in the
application, but not mentioned in the documentation.

Create a polygon mesh geodesic sphere using the frequency parameter on one
of the native primitives, then apply the PNet operator with ApplyOp().

I downloaded the free trial installer from the main site. It has the same
name:

Autodesk_ECSU_2016_English_Japanese_Win_64bit_wi_en-us_Setup_webinstall.exe

and it works. Maybe you can use that? Or at least verify whether that one
also fails to run on your system.

Simple solution. I gave up attempting to install on that computer and tried
on another one and it worked as intended. Same OS on both systems, just
must be something wonky about one of them.

So if anyone else experiences issues with downloading from Autodesk, my
advice is, make sure you aren't using my desktop system.

Missed that.

The normal installer with that naming convention but without “_webinstall”
appended should be about 13-15 Mb in size.

Try using Chrome.

A link to where you are getting the file might be helpful as well

RE: Downloading Entertainment Creation Suite

2015-09-29 Thread Ponthieux, Joseph G. (LARC-E1A)[LITES]
Never mind on the link. You’re using the edu portal it would seem. It’s where
our robotics students use to get their Autodesk software. Been a while since I
had to traverse that portal but unless you are logged into it would be
difficult to test. It seems like I recall that installer runs from within your
browser maybe? But the file you listed was an .exe. I’d give Autodesk edu a
call. Assuming you can still find a number. If you’re a qualified student
you’re eligible for a 3 year license I think.

Missed that.

The normal installer with that naming convention but without “_webinstall”
appended should be about 13-15 Mb in size.

Try using Chrome.

A link to where you are getting the file might be helpful as well

Downloading Entertainment Creation Suite

2015-09-29 Thread Bradley Gabe
Hiya folks! Long time no see.

I'm attempting to download and install the creation suite from the Autodesk
website from the education center. It downloads the 330KB insaller app
without a problem, however when I try to run that app, nothing at all
happens.

Has anyone else hit the same hurdle and figured out where the block is?

-Bradley

Yuppers.
The problem seems to be with their installer
app: Autodesk_ECSU_2016_English_Japanese_Win_64bit_wi_en-us_Setup_webinstall.exe
I've tried running as Admin from different locations. Simply stated,
nothing happens upong attempting to run this puppy.

Adam, any hints on how to find that route? Keep in mind I'm not going
through a standard ADSK account, but rather an educational account.

Admittedly i didnt expect there would be a current one published. We had issues
in the past regarding the schools accounts for our robotics students and we did
call them to resolve it but thats been several years ago.

Have you tried using the virtual agent to download?

A call... hahahaha!
I've been all over the site and there's not a phone number to be found.
There *is* a handy page for getting online chat help, but their "agent is not
available" for the greater part of this afternoon so far.

Yeah, I was referring to subscription. I haven't tried the education portal
in a while.
