I'm trying to make sure I understand how your setup ensures that mmserver starts before LMS. I've looked carefully at the mmserver script, and rc.d installation that you describe in the linked thread; and I've checked the current LMS script and rc.d set up. I see that the LMS symlinks for 'start' in rc*.d are all S07logitechmediaserver and your links put mmserver at S01mmserver. So I'm assuming that's how your setup ensures that mmserver starts first. Is that right? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS library scan terminated unexpectedly
I had another look at the scanner log and discovered the name of the 3kb malformed mp3 file that was causing the problem. I deleted it and ran a new scan. This time I have a hundred instances of some other errors! Mostly like this: Code: [18-07-18 14:07:17.5350] Slim::Utils::Text::ignoreCaseArticles (158) Warning: Operation "uc" returns its argument for UTF-16 surrogate U+D83D at /Slim/Utils/Text.pm line 158. and this: Code: [18-07-18 14:07:18.3636] Slim::Utils::Text::ignoreArticles (122) Warning: Operation "substitution (s///)" returns its argument for UTF-16 surrogate U+D83D at /Slim/Utils/Text.pm line 122. scanner log is attached. any advice? 25322 +---+ |Filename: scanner.log [new].txt| |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=25322| +---+ malcolm4's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20075 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106322 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

I've been running the LMS 7.9.1 stable release without problems on a test box running Windows Server 2016 Essentials. I'm testing whether or not I want to upgrade now from 2012 R2 Essentials or wait later. FYI: Some things of interest I've found: 1) There is no media pack for 2016 Essentials. You have to install your own DLNA server (like PLEX, etc.). 2) I'm finding that 2016 Essentials Windows Update takes a LONG time to install monthly cumulative updates. Much longer than 2012 R2 on similar hardware (an HP 40L Microserver); the updates run faster on a beefy VM I tried. So if I upgrade, I should consider a better box. I'm not sure what you mean by 'do a scan of MIP libraries' here. Do you mean 'Refresh Songs'?. I have done that, though it makes no obvious difference to the LMS scan. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Accessing VLC music stream on LAN with Squeezebox
Hello - I am simply "buffaloed" as to how to get LMS to playback a VLC music stream, which is being hosted locally. I am sending the stream out from one computer on the home network. I can play the stream on another computer on the home network with VLC as client - no problems there, so URL etc are correct. ( http://10.209.162.139:8080 ) For some reason, I cannot access the stream from either Windows Media Player or Squeezebox via LMS using the same computer on the home network. I have tried entering the URL into the Tune In URL page in Squeezebox, and there is no error ... it seems to "play" for about 15 seconds (no sound), and then stop. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS scan does not detect MusicIP mixable tracks
I've been running LMS+MusicIP for years on Debian Wheezy, but decided a few days ago that it was time to upgrade to Stretch. As my set up has been stable for a very long time, I'm a bit rusty at configuring LMS and MIP to work together, but I think I've done it right. MIP is running before LMS starts. MIP shows the correct number of mixable tracks (so it sees its database at Home/.MusicMagic/default.m3lib); and I have the MusicIP pluggin enabled on LMS. But after a 'Clear library and rescan everything', there are no items in the track context menus for creating mixes. I've been trawling through searches for a couple of days now, and I'm completely stumped. I'd be very grateful for any advice about how to fix this. Re: LMS does not work after full restore-please help!
Thanks Michael, I downloaded the file you suggested and clicked on it and it unzipped. I am not sure if I was supposed to do anything else. Anyway I then tried to download LMS 7.9.1 and it was a success and it now appears in my System Preferences. HOWEVER, ... when I try to START the LMS (by pushing "Start Server") after a few seconds with the message "server is starting" it FAILS to start and the button again says "Start Server" Do you have any followup suggestions? Thanks so much. Larry mherger wrote: > Most likely this is an issue with permissions on the log folder, as > we've often seen in the past.
