I should probably have asked about "ls -l /Volumes", too.

That symlink would point to iTunes next to it. You don't really need
this, do you?

Hmm... could you please share a screenshot of those "all disc access"

No need to stop/start LMS when changing log levels ... plus, if you did
not set the flag to say persist the settings then those log levels will
have been reset when you started LMS.

Next ... wired v wireless ... how are the SB devices connected (should
not be an issue because they managed to get an IP address via DHCP)?
Try changing the connection type - and if too far away from the router
for a wired connection then move the SB unit temporarily.

Then force the extension back to M3u in finder rather than the new rich

That then imports almost all the playlist. There is the odd one missing
but I’m assuming this is to do with the odd characters in the odd file I

Do a full wipe and rescan. Missing libraries cause all kinds of

On the pCP web page where you setup the network mount, increase the wait
time for network mounts. The time needs to be long enough to let the

This sort of issue is usually sorted by an editor preference. A "Find
and replace" solution may need a facility for the specifying the hex
value of char to be replaced.
Alternatively using a tool such as "sed" to fixup the file.

What editor are you using ? I don't know MacOS but other users may be
able to suggest a better one.

In that case, try going through the menus on the SB device and ask it to
make an explicit connection to your LMS server.
Once you find the correct menu item ... it will prompt for the IP

If you mean by "Tune-in box on the LMS WebGUI" adding a favorite, then
no, the https link does not work. The http link works. The higher level
of security is also a good point...I have the lastest Qnap FW...I would
assume this should be supported..but I keep on looking..

I just pulled the latest image:
logicwar/logitechmediaserver:latest-data-2, and  IO::Socket::SSL: is
still 2.024 ...

I also found lmscommunity/logitechmediaserver on the dockerhub, but this
image does not show up on my qnap docker station.

I am still trying to figure if IO::Socket::SSL is container related or
QNAP OS related...I keep looking...

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Can't Connect to server

2021-12-29 Thread Dishymark

I've been using Squeezeboxes for a while. Now after moving house, with
stuff still in storage, I brought 2 2nd hand Squeezebox 2's and both are
able to connect to the network, get an ip address (which I am able to
ping) but then say cannot connect to server, left to go back, right to
try again.

Originally I was using Ubuntu 12 (32 bit) Its been reliable and
untouched for years, with an old version of the Logitecmedia server.
The machine had not been switched on for several months. I formed the
opinion that even though I have neverused mysqueezeboxserver.com, the
old software may have been logging in to the site and I understand that
the site could be defunct. So I attempted instalation of 8.02 and this
failed, it seemed as if the perl version was too old.

I upgraded Ubuntu to 18.04 64bit, and was able to get the LMS running, a
scan was completed and although there are warnings in the log file about

Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1341) Warning: [15:01:30.7614]
DBIx::Class::ResultSet::update_or_create(): Query returned more than one
row. SQL that returns multiple rows is DEPRECATED for ->find and
->single at /usr/share/perl5/Slim/Schema.pm line 1905

These *-are-* warnings so perhaps nothing to worry about.

I was able to login on port 9000, set up the music file directory and
see my music, and monitor the scan as it happened, which took aboutan
hour for . I was able to skip the mysqueezebox integration. The scan
says there are about 46000 songs which would be right.

But still the same problem persists.

The squeezebox2's do not manage to connect to the server. One of them I
have done a factory reset, one I have not but it makes no difference.

Any pointers anyone can give? The web says that this could be a
firewall issue, but I dont think so as server and squeezebox are all on
192.168.1.XX and the server has a static IP.

Any hints much appreciated.

It is plain I believe. Standard output from the music app. Just won’t
work. As I said, I can tweak it to work oddly if you look back at the
conversation, but I can’t replicate it for large playlists.

If it doesn't play using the Tune-in box on the LMS WebGUI - then the
issue is SSL/TLS related - the station requires a higher level of
security that the version of IO::Socket::SSL and maybe OpenSSL on your

Yes. That gets modified. I edit the file to look like this

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:139,The End - The Beatles/mnt/piCorePlayer/Music/The
Beatles/Abbey Road/16 The End.m4a

Then I edit again to look like this

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:139,The End - The Beatles
/mnt/piCorePlayer/Music/The Beatles/Abbey Road/16 The End.m4a

And then it works!

On the file that works, all I do is duplicate the file that doesn’t
work, and on the third line, back space it so the file only has two
line, then I create the third line again. Resave it and it works.

Problem is I can’t duplicate that for my large playlist, but for one
song I can.

I can replicate this issue with the LMS server on my Mac. So it’s not a
picoreplayer issue. It’s something to do with the output from music on
Mac I guess.

Any other playlist I export for say may car work absolutely fine as a
M3U file. It’s really odd. Not sure what else I can do..

On my system playlist line ending ending with 0x0a and the OP end with
0x0d. In LMS M3U files are read with standard Perl line I/O (i.e. not
byte by byte) which is usually flexible about line endings.
The supplied working and non working playlists are identical - so it
seems line ending doesn't matter - unless the playlist uploaded are NOT
the ones on the PCP system.

exactly the same - the standard playlist is empty, but if I do my tweak

You need to do a test and confirm that changes on Samba mounted drive

I don't know your work methods, where files are edited, how they are
edited, how they are transferred, where files are stored on PCP, how
LMS scans are initiated etc.
Using PCP, some changes need to be made persistent to survive a reboot.
If LMS scans are initiated using reboot - then persistence may be an
issue.

Reverting back to a post I made earlier - referring to original zip.
The two m3u8 files were identical and you said one worked and other
didn't.
This would imply the problem is in the playlist file - its name or
permissions etc and *not* its contents.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Can't connect to remote server when using HTTPS

2021-12-29 Thread Flyfress

In the LMS server.log I see the error "Can't connect to remote server to
retrieve playlist for" when the radio wants to connect to
https://s2.ssl-stream.com/radio/8210/radio.mp3[/url] (I get this URL by
doing a Radio Search).
When I define an favorite with no https
(http://s2.ssl-stream.com/radio/8210/radio.mp3[/url]), everything works
fine.

"Proxied Streaming" is used by the Squeeze Box Radio.

I read that https is supported when using LMS. And it seems that the
connection is refused on the remote part ? I cannot figure out why.
Perhaps anyone has an idea ?

Here is the server log:

Make sure the playlist is being scanned after each change you are making
to the m3u file. Enable logging formats.playlist to INFO and check the
logs after each change has been scanned.

And that include the owner type stuff ? Not sure what MacOS does it
have access control lists and groups ? - if so check them also.

The space in the playlist file name - it will then become a different
file name and so should will have to get LMS to scan it anew.

exactly, and even if one does use the streamer's own software, it is

I will have a look and copy and paste in the logs

Permissions are the same I believe looking in finder in macos.

Re filename space - not tried this. Will it still find the file if we
exclude the space?

What benefit do you think a "hi end" streamer will give you if you're
not going to make any use of the streamer's own software ecosystem ?

If you say you're committed to continue with LMS, then you won't do any
better than a Pi4 based streamer with a high performing external DAC
(which doesn't have to be expensive, as you know from the Khadas...)

Any idea why the standard m3u won’t work?

Output of "file" command on the files.

Code:

attempt2 copy.m3u8: M3U playlist, ASCII text, with CR line terminators
attempt2.m3u8: M3U playlist, ASCII text, with CR, LF line terminators

You should not be using m3u8 extension with the playlist - it implies
UTF8 encoded playlist OR HLS playlist.

Not sure what you mean.

Editors can make mistakes.
Need to identify what is different between the files rather that blindly
try different options.

The "file" command can be used to identify if a file is UTF or ASCII
format.

My question was posed to eliminate possibilities.

possible to check.
Sometime editor settings is the source of the problem

I think LMS produced playlist are UTF with BOM.

I don't think UTF vs ASCII matter to LMS except but if editor was "dumb"
it may incorrectly mix encoding.
Since MAcOS is closer to Linux than DOS - I feel line endings (e.g.
CR/LF vs LF) shouldn't be an issue but it is important to check, again
in case editor messed up.

Is there a "file" command in MAcOS Terminal ?

I've just made a small playlist, I've merely copied the tracks' file
