[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Some thoughts and questions
Hi, I see that some hardware producers use LMS as a server software: Innuos, SOtM, ... That is interesting development but it is understandable, because LMS provides a full set of functions needed by consumers: Spotify, Tidal, Quobuz, ... internet radio, ... Very few servers are capable of providing such a rich set of streaming functions. But we have also further development of the hardware too. New protocols are appearing (for example: Dirreta) and in a certain point of time Squeezebox owners will be forced to upgrade. Not the mention the fact that existing Squeezes will not work for ever. Do you have any plan how to proceed in the case when Squeezebox hardware is not capable of supporting new server functions ? Are there any plans or ideas to build a new Squeezebox ? For compatibility reasons it would be interesting to see the full integration with UPnP/DLNA. We have a plugin for that at the moment but I believe that that support should be part of core LMS functionality. Any plans to extend LMS in this direction ? At the moment I am really pleased how LMS is working. But when I think about the future, I am not quite sure how to proceed ... Any thoughts from your side ? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Most recent MacOS update broke LMS?
Ugh, this started happening again a few days ago, getting the Perl access message every time I restart my Mac, and LMS can’t see either of my Boom players. I’m running LMS 8.3 and have not upgraded to MacOS Ventura yet. I’ve tried multiple reboots of my Mac as well as the Booms. Do you have the firewall enabled? LMS might be using the new Perl now, which needs to be granted access, too. ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Log messages can be tracked to source code so exactly what consdition the message is produced is understood. That said, if in the logs the same player has the initial problem, swap PSU and see if problem changes. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117047 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

My understanding of the planned changes to BBC local radio regarding shared output etc is that it affects output after 2pm and weekends and won't come into force until next year. Could be some preliminary tinkering or just a coincidence? Any advice on how best to ask the BBC to check their streaming output? (if BBC Sounds output is also suffering same mix up, will it definitely be the BBC or could third-party CDN services be involved in that output?) [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] How to move LMS to a new machine?
Time has come for me to update from Win 7 x86 to Win 10 x64. Going from x86 to x64 I can't do an "upgrade" so it will be a clean install. I plan to image my existing Win 7 system onto a larger SSD leaving a second partition for Win 10 to be set up in dual-boot. As for LMS, I plan to: 1. Install LMS 8.3 under Win 10 2. Stop all LMS processes 3. Copy from Win 7 partition: - The entire contents of my C:\PROGRAM FILES\SQUEEZEBOX folder - Any %appdata% folders having to do with LMS or its plugins; currently none - Any %programdata% folders having to with LMS or its plugins; currently INGUZEQ and SQUEEZEBOX 4. Reboot and perform a "clear and rebuild library" rescan. Have I missed anything necessary to have my new installation of LMS behave exactly like my old one? Thanks. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Playback goes into 4 second loops on both wired Win10 and Pi4 LMS. Log file attached
I am running LMS 8.2.1 on a Pi4 and LMS 7.9.2 on Win10. I am testing them separately and get the same problem. Playback audio suddenly goes dead and it goes into a 4 second loop, as seen on the Win10 browser interface. Main points are: - testing with 2 sync'd SB3s - the Pi4 works fine with just Squeezelite, but problems start with sync'd SB3s - everything wired on a v good Gbit network - playing 44.1/16 FLACs - I have changed everything and get the same problem. Changed both SB3s, Router, Pi4 O/S (LMS 8.1.2 and 8.2.1), using WiFi instead of ethernet - it usually takes an hour + for the problem to occur. The latest Win10 test run took 6 hours to start looping (log attached). I attach the player.source debug info. In this example it started looping between 15:36 and 15:37. I am pulling my hair out with this. I have had 3-4 sync'd SB3s for 20 odd years and things have basically worked. I didn't use it for a couple of months due to a house move and now it's endless trouble. I have tried using exactly the same PlusNet router and have tried different routers. The fibre broadband here is a very stable 70+mb/s but that should be irrelevant for FLACs. I am unable to interpret the log. LMS request chunks of data to fill a player buffer. Playing only starts when buffer has reached a threshold. The player will indicate underrun when no data left in buffer to play. Player has two buffer input for encoded data and output for decoded data. >From log below it looks like input buffer is about 2Mbytes (2,093,152) and output is about (1,764,000). The input buffer will take about 63 x 32kbyte chunks to fill and it took LMS from 44:22.13 to 44:22.73 to do it. So LMS is initially supplying data at about 2,093,152/0.6 = 3.4Mbytes/sec - so something is causing a delay or not letting LMS service an I/O request. If you are still running LMS 8.1.2 - it is old (abt Jan 2021) please upgrade just to eliminate old bugs. Now tried with Material. As expected, it lists the updated plugins but does not provide a way to select individual ones to update. No problem with that as I expect that most people will want to update everything - and those that want to be selective can launch the Default skin. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] High resolution FLACs (192/24) stuttering during playback
The plot thickens. The 256GB USB stick where my music is stored is EASILY fast enough. I copied 8.2GB of FLACs over the network to my Windows PC in 188s. That's 44MB/s. So I am still no closer to understanding the problem. And of course the LMS/Pi for these tests isn't even going over the network. Any idea what may be going on? [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] UK BBC Local Radio Stream problems
Hi, a few days ago my Squeezebox's stream of BBC Radio Northampton via LMS (URL: http://opml.radiotime.com/Tune.ashx?id=s6853=aac,ogg,mp3,wmpro,wma,wmvoice=16=0cbd332c5c260374ade640cb528ec235) has been streaming either BBC Radio Merseyside or most recently BBC Radio Nottingham. I assume someone somewhere has erred in a configuration or script change of the UK's BBC local radio stations? My other radio streams have not been affected (so far). Does anyone know who is responsible for these streams and how this error might be corrected? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Error when i scan my media folders
Check to see what processes are running on your LMS machine - in particular those being run by perl You might see slimserver but not scanner - which would imply crashed rather than cleanly exiting at the end of a scan Paul Webster author of \"now playing\" plugins covering radio france (fip etc), planetradio (bauer - kiss, absolute, scala, jazzfm etc), kcrw, abc australia and cbc/radio-canada and, via the extra \"radio now playing\" plugin lots more - see https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?115201-announce-radio-now-playing-plugin Paul Webster's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=105 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117036 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Error when i scan my media folders
Hallo, I´ve exactly the same issue since yesterday. I was running an 8.2 Version on RaspberryPi parallel to an Volumio distribution (feeding a Hifiberry Amp...) Anyway: I suddenly noticed yesterday that the lists are empty. Something like this happened from time to time and a manually triggered re-scan then cured it ever again. But not ths time. The scan for changed/new files ran for hours and at the same time showed no progress. I then tried to cancel the scan - without success. Even after a reboot, it seemed as if the scan continued unchanged at the same point. I tried stopping the LMS service and trying a complete rescan after restarting the service. This broke off at some point. I finally switched to version 8.3.1 - with exactly the same scanning behavior: complete rescan breaks off at some point Re-scanning for changed files stops somewhere (every time different!) (display of the current title does not change!) but the clock continues to run. It is striking that I no longer see the typical small black squares to visualize the progress in the scan progress. I set the scanner's logging to info in the hope of finding out more - unfortunately I can't read anything from it I selected complete new scan. Scan is "frozen": 39085 After hitting "terminate scan: 39086 Nothing changed: 39084 Frozen scan still running (again) - see clock: 39087 Very frustrating Volker +---+ |Filename: scann 4.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=39087| +---+ Black Senator's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=66799 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117036 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
