The problem was 8dot3name support was disabled on the drive holding the music. Now my question is how did I end up with it being disabled in the first place? The system drive already had it enabled but the second drive, with the music on it, had it disabled. They're both NTFS. Maybe the way I formatted it? I don't remember what I used. Thanks again! Yes, the 8dot3name support of the file system should be enabled to let the LMS scanner process such files. You might also want to set the LMS' character encoding to utf8. See also 'this thread.' The filesystem mighty be important. What is the filesystem used : NTFS, FAT32 ?? FAT32 uses OEM for name whereas NTFS uses Unicode. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114152 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Thanks. Yeah, so far I've had to resort to using the $replace() function in mp3tag convert > tag--to--filename. I don't understand why LMS can't see those characters in folder/file names but can in tags. Also don't understand why Windows and every other app I've used (so far) have no problem with those characters in folder/file names. I'm wondering if it's because of some setting in LMS that I wrongly configured in a past version (I've had many older versions on this PC) that's causing this to stick around... Any more suggestions from anyone? I don't think LMS has given me any problems with diacritics, but some other apps have. If you can't solve it, here is a workaround: https://community.mp3tag.de/t/replace-diacritics-within-folder-names/51937/14?u=apesbrain Can you confirm the problem is specific to LMS and other Win 10 apps show the characters correctly? [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Folders/Files with special characters not 'seen' by LMS
My LMS 8.1.2-1614990085 doesn't seem to detect folder or file names with specal characters, specifically these: U+02BB Ê» U+0100 Ä U+0101 Ä U+0112 Ä U+0113 Ä U+012A Ī U+012B Ä« U+014C Å U+014D Å U+016A Ū U+016B Å« When folder/file names have any of those characters they are missed by the scanner. They are also not seen if I try and browse 'My Music' by 'Disks and folders'. Previously had older versions of LMS, had the same problem with them. No other programs on the PC have any problems seeing them. What's weird is that those characters work just fine as metadata (written by MP3Tag) whether in flac, mp3, etc. PC is on Win 10 Home 20H2, was upgraded from Win 8.1 some time ago. Help, please Thanks! I want NBC's *-Ed-* on DVD/Blu-ray! 808htfan's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1298 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=114152 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
