Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer finds my music
Leave the cable modem in routed mode but switch off its wifi Access the Asus - plug in to it directly - and turn off its DHCP server. Give it a fixed IP of 192.168.100.2. Reboot the Asus and plug it into the cable router. Now the Wifi should be in the Asus but all the IP addresses come from the cable modem in the 192.168.100.x range. Nothing has changed so far as the SBs and LMS are concerned except the wifi. It really should be fixed so that the mount point IP never changes. Using its name will often work but an IP address is better (I won't go into technical reasons but the name won't always work, the IP address if fixed always will). *Vortexbox LMS 7.9 music on QNAP TS419p via NFS* iThingys/iPeng/Tablets *Living Room* - SB3 -> Onkyo TS606 - > Celestion Ditton F20s - Zone 2 -> Sony TA FE 320 -> Sennheiser RS 130 & B P7 *Office* - RPi -> Sony TA FE320 -> Celestion F10s / SB3 -> Onkyo CRN 755 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes *Dining Room* -> SB Boom *Kitchen* -> UE Radio (upgraded to SB Radio) *Bedroom (Bedside)* - SB Touch -> Topping TP21 -> AKG Headphones *Bedroom (TV)* - Amazon Fire TV (SB Player) -> Topping TP20 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106477 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer finds my music
Hi, Saw thread this while looking for a solution to another problem I got after installing 7.9. This thread sounds just like a problem I just had at the time I tired 7.9. /.9 didn't fix it but something mentioned below did. Symptoms: I am running 7.8 LMS on Raspberry PI from Max2play plugin. While playing music and it suddenly stopped. On checking the library nothing was there anymore. Cleared library and re-scanned but found nothing. Reboot router, reboot QNAP NAS, both several times and still nothing. Rebooted RaspberryPi still no change. Re-Install 7.8 >>7.9 from max2play. Still no music. Problem got worse and couldn't access LMS settings at all in the end but could access the RaspberryPi and Max2play where LMS was located. In LMS the music folder is the mount point I set Max2play to point to the music on the NAS. The Max2play mount point was using the IP address of the NAS in the path to the music folder. I changed this to use the NAS server name instead. Rebooted all aggain this time including a network switch and tried again. Now it works and all files are back after a re-scan!!! Maybe something I mentioned helps the OP find the fix. Now I just have to work why my alarms sounds have disappeared with 7.9 or go back to 7.8 :-) LMS running on QNAP NAS TS219P+, multiple Logitech Touch's and Radios, SqueezePlay on various PC's, DBPowerAmp, MP3Tag, FLAC m4rk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=51952 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106477 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

With pitty you could ssh into your QNAP and checke the links under /share: ls -l /share Then you can see, where /share/Public (now) links to. Follow this path. Do you find your music there? Just to rule out that it's a problem with a changed path. karlek's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64321 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106477 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Fair enough. Most people wind up with work computers (which I wouldn't trust with a bargepole), or cousins/grandparents smartphones or even the baby/dog/housesitter's phone or computer having access at some point. Anyway, a look at fine grained access control might be the key for you to solve this problem.. drmatt's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=59498 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106477 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Putty or WinSCP - you need to look at the permissions and ownership of the MP3 files you put in share/Multimedia and work out why LMS can't see them. Putty or WinSCP can then put them right for you, Public is read/write to any known samba user which could include kids on your network if you were sharing files with them i.e. Open to accidental change Multimedia is by default read to everyone but write to admin only (I am talking standard QNAP here) *Vortexbox LMS 7.9 music on QNAP TS419p via NFS* iThingys/iPeng/Tablets *Living Room* - SB3 -> Onkyo TS606 - > Celestion Ditton F20s - Zone 2 -> Sony TA FE 320 -> Sennheiser RS 130 & B P7 *Office* - RPi -> Sony TA FE320 -> Celestion F10s / SB3 -> Onkyo CRN 755 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes *Dining Room* -> SB Boom *Kitchen* -> UE Radio (upgraded to SB Radio) *Bedroom (Bedside)* - SB Touch -> Topping TP21 -> AKG Headphones *Bedroom (TV)* - Amazon Fire TV (SB Player) -> Topping TP20 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106477 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer finds my music
Neither share/Public or share/Multimedia are the real paths they are both symlinks but that probably isn't the issue The real paths are something quite obscure like HD0-1/path to/files/QNAP/Public but that may not matter if you can see what you expect to see via QNAP file manager It will be permissions as suggested earlier. These are Linux user / group permissions not those you find in samba. As your music is in Public we can assume that security is not a big issue to you. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer finds my music
I'm just doing another restart, although I had already restarted the NAS before. I don't quite see why I should restart the router - it is working, and has nothing to do with what's going on on the NAS, other than the communication needed to control it from my computer's browser. And that works perfectly. My normal Music folder used to be share/Public/Music. The Playlists were in share/Public/Music/Playlists, so they were in a separate folder. But as described above, the folder selection dialog in LMS's setting doesn't show these subdirectories anymore, although they do still exist, as I can see in the QNAP's file station. To try if it works with directories that can be selected from within LMS, I switched both to share/Multimedia. It contains a couple mp3 files, I can see them in the QNAP's file station. But LMS does not see them. Remove the ticks from Pictures & Videos As Ronnie says the Playlist folder should not be in the same path Normally the music folder would be share/Multimedia/Music And the playlists share/Mumtinedia/Playlists Pictures & Videos should go in share/Multimedia/Pictures Etc Scanning the whole Multimedia folder with the ticks in place will cause LMS to scan any videos which it may have trouble doing or take forever to finish *Vortexbox LMS 7.9 music on QNAP TS419p via NFS* iThingys/iPeng/Tablets *Living Room* - SB3 -> Onkyo TS606 - > Celestion Ditton F20s - Zone 2 -> Sony TA FE 320 -> Sennheiser RS 130 & B P7 *Office* - RPi -> Sony TA FE320 -> Celestion F10s / SB3 -> Onkyo CRN 755 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes *Dining Room* -> SB Boom *Kitchen* -> UE Radio (upgraded to SB Radio) *Bedroom (Bedside)* - SB Touch -> Topping TP21 -> AKG Headphones *Bedroom (TV)* - Amazon Fire TV (SB Player) -> Topping TP20 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106477 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer finds my music
You may find that a firmware upgrade has destroyed the symlinks to your music folder that LMS is set to use. Go to settings and try re-adding the music share. You may have to click about a bit to find it. This annoyance happened to me in one of the QNAP upgrades. I now use a different machine for LMS but keep the files on the QNAP. *Vortexbox LMS 7.9 music on QNAP TS419p via NFS* iThingys/iPeng/Tablets *Living Room* - SB3 -> Onkyo TS606 - > Celestion Ditton F20s - Zone 2 -> Sony TA FE 320 -> Sennheiser RS 130 & B P7 *Office* - RPi -> Sony TA FE320 -> Celestion F10s / SB3 -> Onkyo CRN 755 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes *Dining Room* -> SB Boom *Kitchen* -> UE Radio (upgraded to SB Radio) *Bedroom (Bedside)* - SB Touch -> Topping TP21 -> AKG Headphones *Bedroom (TV)* - Amazon Fire TV (SB Player) -> Topping TP20 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106477 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Basically yeah. Don't know much about the way it runs on the NAS servers, but I would guess it runs as a separate uid not as admin, so you'd need to ensure that uid has read access to all the music folders. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer finds my music
I have LMS v7.7.2 as provided by QNAP in their app center, running on a QNAP TS-451 Pro II. The NAS's OS currently is 4.2.2 (2016/11/02), although this updates frequently and so far these updates never have been a problem. My 2 players, a Receiver and a Touch, both connect to it, and they also play internet radio. But since a short while, I can't play my own music, that is stored on the NAS, anymore. When I start a new media scan, it completes within a few seconds, and finds no music files at all. I tried to select a different directory to search for music files, but the dialog where you select the folders to search doesn't allow to select subdirectories more than 2 levels below root anymore. When I click on the + left of the folder that contains my music subdirectories, to expand the available subdirectories, the + simply disappears, without any subdirectories showing up. So I can't even select the proper directory anymore. To try I also let it scan a folder with some music that isn't deeper down than on level 2, but even there it doesn't find the music. I already stopped and restarted LMS once, but it didn't help. Do you have any idea what could cause this strange "blindness"? wus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57771 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106477 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
