Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] WOL from remote location
The Squeezeboxes should send the WOL signal also through single cast on port 3483 IIRC so if you've got your router set up correctly you should be fine . Apart from that most routers allow you to specify a port through which it accepts WOL packets for re-distribution on the local network --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 9, the Universal App for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105752 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] WOL from remote location
Long story short, in my experience: - openvpn bridged network over 2 sites (and certainly many more) is transparent and works fine if the upstream bandwidth of the site where LMS is located is good enough. - Local service is always better, with or without VPN. I'm using Syncthing with great success to mirror directories. It's a p2p, per folder service. It is absolutely not a backup system, rather the contrary (deletes propagate faster than copies!) So make an offline backup first. - The Pi is a great platform for any of this. I have tested a bridged VPN setup over a local lan, I'm getting transfer speeds in excess of 70 mbps with 25% CPU usage (1 core loaded), it performs just fine. Its bottleneck is IOs, when saving/reading files it'll hover around 30 mpbs rather. 3 SB 3 Libratone Loop, Zipp Mini iPeng (iPhone + iPad) LMS 7.9 (linux) with plugins: CD Player, WaveInput, Triode's BBC iPlayer by bpa IRBlaster by Gwendesign (Felix) Server Power Control by Gordon Harris Smart Mix, Music Walk With Me, What Was That Tune? by Michael Herger PowerSave by Jason Holtzapple Song Info, Song Lyrics by Erland Isaksson AirPlay Bridge by philippe_44 WeatherTime by Martin Rehfeld Auto Dim Display, SaverSwitcher, ContextMenu by Peter Watkins. epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105752 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Possible but not ideal (still need the WOL) 2. Better (still need the WOL) 3. Possible but would still need 1 or 2 4. This is what I did with a Cubietruck Low power and works well as a LMS Server (onboard sound isnt great but a USB soundcard works well as I remember) 5. Rpi with Pcp and external HDD with soundcard for an all in one, use rsync to sync, may also do OpenVPN as well. 4 and 5 do away with the WOL as they can run continuously *Players:* SliMP3,Squeezebox3 x3,Receiver,SqueezePlayer,PiCorePlayer x3,Wandboard *Server:* LMS Version: 7.9.0 - 1453293926 on Centos 7 VM on ESXi 6 on HP N54L *Plugins:* AutoRescan/BBCiPlayer/PowerSave/PowerSwitchIII/Squeezecloud *Remotes:* iPeng8/Orangesqueeze/PC/Jivelite *Music:* 383GB,1269 albums 17756 songs 4381 artists mostly FLACs *Want a webapp ?* See http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?104305-Webapp-for-LMS Jeff07971's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=49290 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105752 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
