[freenet-support] DoS

2003-01-29 Thread Sascha =?unknown-8bit?q?W=FCstemann?=
Hi all,

running freenet for the comunity, is primarily used for frost, here.

Frost is currently at a Denial of Service attack and since then, I am
watching a lot of more connections to my node than before and downloads
have totally stopped, but that might belong to other reasons.

plz have a look at the freenet.log.snippet encluded to tell me, if
evertything seems just normal and that I can continue running freenet.
at the time I have stopped it, because it causes a load from 10 to 18
(!) on my linux machine, which I can't use anymore because of that high
load.

cu, Sascha

Fred uses a own library. If you want to use a fast platform specific
native implementation, then you have to use the Onion FEC library:
http://onionnetworks.com/developers/

AFAIK you can find something on the Nubile-freesite, but it's perhaps outdated.
(I never used this native code)

I ran updatesnapshot about 2 hrs ago.

It's not a problem in fred builds, this Unable to find native library for fecX
is a status message; there's nothing wrong.

Greetings,
Stef

It's already 256KB by now, so I don't think I'll post it. I think I'll
try building from source. Come to think of it, I got some odd errors
trying to unpack the release tarball.

Ok, then that wasn't the problem.. Are you sure that the freenet server
manages to start up correctly. I am not aquaitned with the Controller
app, maybe it is saying the wrong thing.

The freenet server should have produced a log file named freenet.log in
the same directory as the jar-file. Can you have a look inside this one
with a text editor to see if everything looks normal (or send it here
even).

[freenet-support] Building from Source on OS X--Packages not Found

2003-01-29 Thread Aaron Davies
I'm trying to build from the latest source release, and I get

bash-2.05a$ make
jikes -bootclasspath lib/freenet-ext.jar -sourcepath src -d build
src/freenet/client/*.java src/freenet/client/cli/*.java

Found 2 system errors:

make: *** [client] Error 1

My CLASSPATH appears to be unset, which is probably the problem. What
should I set it to? I'm running 10.2.3 w/Developer package.

You probably have to set CLASSPATH to point to a place where the
jdk1.1 classes can be found, since (I think) jikes does not provide
these itself.

Failing that, you might want to try building with ant instead of make.
ant uses build.xml instead of Makefile, and you'll have to edit
the top of it to indicate that you wish to compile with jikes.

Also please be sure you are using jikes version 1.14. Nothing older,
and NOTHING NEWER.

[freenet-support] Web interface - 'Unexpected key' always

2003-01-29 Thread xBlank
Hi there,

I'm trying freenet out without much success so far...

Freenet looks like it is starting fine. When look at the web interface it
all seems well. I get the Aqua themed page. If I view Node information then
I get the info. But if I try to click on any of the links or to request
Freesite with a key then I get something like this:

Unexpected Key

The requested Key
http%3a//localhost/SSK@Pqb7VI1DhPl1kaB0p4-CJyFfUUcPAgM/TII// doesn't look
like a freenet key.
Freenet Keys begin with KSK@, SSK@, CHK@ or SVK@. The most common reason for
this message is that you are trying to use the Freenet Gateway key form as a
search form. Please visit one of the bookmark links on the gateway and
follow links to other freesites from there.
If you really want to try and retrieve this key, you can Retrieve anyway, or
return to gateway page.

Looks like one to me, apart from the HTTP formatting.

Yours, frustratedly,

Jeff
