Just to clarify - you are following these steps: 1) Boot Freerunner to Nand 2) Connect via USB cable on host 3) On host terminal giving the following commands: sudo chown uucp.uucp /dev/ttyACM0 followed by sudo cu -l /dev/ttyACM0 and you are getting a connected on the host but no U-Boot prompt on the host? Sim card and carrier
I know the topic about SIM cards has been previously raised, but I have a couple of questions. I do have my FR since a couple of weeks and I am enjoying a lot despite the lack of sound codinig knowledge. I plan to participate with the community via translation efforts in the short term. I have used Qtopia until the latest stable release of Om2008.08 and have also installed Debian on an SD card for testing purposes. I do have one SIM card which is actually my personal phone number (vs. the professional one) and although this card works fine with other mobiles, the FR does not seem to see it. It is the only one of my four SIM cards that does not work on the FR. It is also the only one that comes from an MVNO. I have reported it at the wiki, but wanted to dig deeper and have tried: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# libgsmd-tool -m atcmd -sh: libgsmd-tool: not found [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# opkg install libgsmd Package libgsmd (0.1+svnr4335-r44) installed in root is up to date. [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# opkg install libgsmd-tool An error ocurred, return value: 2. [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# opkg install libgsmd-tool An error ocurred, return value: 2. - Ignored: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# libgsmd-tool -m atcmd -sh: libgsmd-tool: not found My simple questions: - How do I make libgsmd-tool work ok? - The problem with the SIM cards in general, is it hardware or software related? I would be happy to test or do all the steps to help anyone willing to help me. I have not asked for a new SIM card to my carrier as the procedure is not so simple and that is the last thing I will try once I know that that must be the issue. I have also tested a dual-sim device that I used with one Symbian phone to carry 2 sim cards with me and it does not seem to work. Does anybody know if this could ever work under the FR? Keep the good work and thanks in advance for your support. Re: Sound on Debian + Neo 1973
Christopher Allan Webber [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Oh, I finally got sound working. Turns out the installer script doesn't do it for the 1973, at least not for me but all I had to do was run the instructions here: http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Manual_Debian#Enable_Sound So I've noticed that the instructions that I just pointed to allow you to play audio, say, through mpg321 and so on. However, they don't allow you to listen or hear audio in phone calls. To do that you need to run: alsactl -f /etc/alsa_state_files-working/gsmhandset.state restore To switch back to listening to MP3's and such, I had to run alsactl -f /etc/alsa_state_files-working/stereoout.state restore (I figured this out by looking at this page: http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Neo1973_Audio_Subsystem ) So it doesn't seem I can both set up my phone to listen to mp3's and communicate in calls at the same time (thus, I can't currently have a ringtone working!) I notice this isn't a problem with the FSO snapshot I checked out. What's happening differently between the FSO snapshot and the default debian install? I'd like to make it so that the debian install can do what the FSO snapshot can, so people can actually make calls and have a ringtone, etc. I see this is partly addressed at the bottom of this page: http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Neo1973_Audio_Subsystem#playback This seems to be more planning documentation though, and obviously something *must* be implemented at this point if it's working on the FSO.
