I'm running XP SP3 and SM 2.0.10 and I can't get .wmv (or any videos for
that matter) to open by double clicking on the attachment.
I have to save them to view them.
How can I fix this? Should I install a third party video player or
something?

1. Make sure that the XP File Associations are set to play the various
video file formats when properly selected.

2. Strongly consider one of the best OpenSource media players in
existence, VLC Media Player (http://www.videolan.org). VLC works and has
worked superbly with XP, Vista, Win 7 in the various Windows 32bit and
64bit versions.

In many ways, web browsers love VLC Media Player. Likewise, in many
ways it solves playing problems for web browsers, and of course for
full-time use as your Windows media player in general.

Joe Rotello

I've installed VLC player including the Mozilla plug-in and still have
the same problem.
When I double click or right click 'open' on an attached wmv. file, an
empty browser window opens and nothing happens other that 'done' appears
on the bottom left hand corner.
I set the file association for these files by right click open always
use this program to open..

The assumption is not correct therefore the conclusions are muddled.

The 2.5% number is highly unlikely to be correct across all Web sites
because the improper coding of many require SM users to spoof as
Firefox or IE in order to gain access.

So 2.5% is probably a low estimate across the website world.

So 2.5% is probably a low estimate across the website world.

Your assumption may be muddled as well. I believe the stat programs are
actually looking for the word SeaMonkey in the UA string. They would
(should) count rather accurately. Those web sites that use the string
for actual page access are the ones looking for SeaMonkey NOT Firefox
(looking for the word Firefox) and that's probably not used in a
statistic. If they did, they'd say: SeaMonkey = 0% because they
normally only look for IE, Firefox, Safari, and maybe Opera.

What's worse is for people to set a UA switcher to Internet Exploder,
and forget to change it back. I'll bet that all stat results for IE
*are* inflated.

Website designers need to get over the desire to control each and
every damn pixel on the screen

Please don't start a new thread every time you post on this issue; reply
to a message in the existing thread.

To modify your Adblock Plus preferences, open a browser window (blank or
otherwise, it doesn't matter), then choose Tools | Adblock Plus
preferences... or else hit CTRL-SHIFT-E.

At the top of the list you should see a short section entitled My Ad
Blocking Rules, and the site you blocked should be in that section.
Delete the bad entry and that should solve your problem.

If you prefer to test first before deleting the rule, disable it by
unchecking the box at right; you can always reenable it later if you like.

Visit the site you unblocked and the previously blocked content should
be visible. The ads, of course, are still blocked by the other rules.

then tried again ...

SM is getting stuck at cp35589.edgefcs.net even though I
also forced that one in opendns.com

WDYT?

As part of Mozilla's ongoing stability and security update process, SeaMonkey
2.0.11 is now available for Windows, Mac, and Linux as a free download from
www.seamonkey-project.org.

We strongly recommend that all SeaMonkey and old suite users upgrade to this
latest release. If you already have SeaMonkey 2.0, you will receive an
automated update notification within 24 to 48 hours. This update can also be
applied manually by selecting Check for Updates... from the Help menu.

For a list of changes and more information, please review the SeaMonkey
2.0.11 Release Notes.

Note: All users of the outdated SeaMonkey 1.x, Mozilla or Netscape suites are
encouraged to upgrade to SeaMonkey 2.0 by downloading it from
www.seamonkey-project.org.

Ah, but it is not available as a .deb package.

(because of which, I am stuck with

Build identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US;
rv:1.8.0.14eol) Gecko/20070505 Iceape/1.0.9
(Debian-1.0.13~pre080614i-0etch1)

)

which is about 43 months old.
