Is there a work-around? How do I move this profile to 2.7.2?

As Philipp (note two p's) suggested above, install SM 2.0.x (along side
SM 1.1.14) and let it do the profile conversion, then install SM 2.7.2
over the top of SM 2.0.x.

SeaMonkey email headers when printing

2012-03-10 Thread Desiree
How do I stop the printing of all the ridiculous headers that take up ALMOST
ONE PAGE and are printed in BOLD TEXT thus wasting ink?

Why does SM Mail print all that junk? Besides all the irrelevant headers, it
also printed ALMOST THE ENTIRE MESSAGE OF THREE PAGES in BOLD wasting even
more ink!

I just needed a record of my reservation. I didn't need all the other junk
printed nor did I need any of it in bold text. OE would never waste ink
like this or print almost an entire page of irrelevant headers.

I removed this email address from OE long ago (and meant to completely kill
it), but I never did and sometimes I get relevant mail in it. SM still has
it so that is why I didn't print from OE. This is probably the first email I
have ever printed from SM as I rarely need to print emails.

List message icons

My questions are simple.

In the Subject listings pane/section, each post shows an envelope icon

Some envelopes are plain, some have a superimposed downward-pointing
green arrow on the flap, and some have a left-facing orange arrow

It's not intuitive as to what those icons mean, and I can find noplace

As far as I can tell SeaMonkey prints what is displayed, or tries to,
which is exactly what it should do and what most people would want.
It prints the headers in bold because they are displayed in bold. Do
you have view all headers selected? If so turn it off (view headers
normal). It tries to print the body as it is displayed, if it's bold
it prints in bold, if you don't like it change view message body as
plain text.

SeaMonkey isn't written to do just what you want and thankfully it
isn't written to do things the way OE does. If you like OE so much
use it, or forward the the message to OE and print from their. Or
copy out the text and past it into another program to print it, that
way you can delete and change the font any way you want.

How many headers get printed is dependant on your setting in
View--Headers. If you're using an extension like Mnenhy, the custom
headers function is based on all headers view. You need to set it to Normal.

For more info, see http://mnenhy.mozdev.org/installation.html#limit.

Many commercial sites have their own printer-friendly versions of things

always do a print preview first to check scaling and such, and if there
are pages I don't want, I just tell SM to print the pages I do want.

Problem with email

2012-03-10 Thread Lisa Wiser
I've been using my Seamonkey email almost exclusively. Friday morning, it
worked fine. Friday night I started getting errors. My Email account itself
seems fine. I can receive. I can send through that email account using my
smartphone. I get an error message when sending through Seamonkey. Nothing was
changed between the sessions.

I checked with my provider (ATT -- I kept my dial up account but access
through Att DSL), tried a few things and nothing worked. I did send several
test mails and although all produced an error message, at least one got through.

In putting my account back after the help from ATT, now my outgoing is not
accepting my password, although I have verified I'm using the proper one.

It appears since I can send mail through many sources outside SeaMonkey, has
something changed there?

Copy The Email and Then paste it into WORD .

The ATT problem has also affected me. However, I found that I can still send

Re: ATT email problem

2012-03-10 Thread Lisa Wiser
Well, I just tried plain text, also, and it worked!  yay. Thanks, Jay, for the
idea.

In my case, I'm on my Laptop Wireless so that didn't help.

And I just talked with ATT AGAIN and they have apparently gotten a LOT of
calls about this. It is apparently just the Mozilla's of SeaMonkey and
Thunderbird. The person I talked with also mention BlackBerry, but I just sent
a test message out and that seems to have gone.

At about 10:30 pm EST ATT said they were estimating 4 hours and the problem
should be fixed. So .. there's a time estimate. I always thought the
non-Worldnet ATT was bad enough. And then they double downed dumb with Yahoo!

Re: Problem with email

I've been using my Seamonkey email almost exclusively. Friday morning, it
worked fine. Friday night I started getting errors. My Email account itself
seems fine. I can receive. I can send through that email account using my
smartphone. I get an error message when sending through Seamonkey. Nothing was
changed between the sessions.

I checked with my provider (ATT -- I kept my dial up account but access through
Att DSL), tried a few things and nothing worked. I did send several test mails and
although all produced an error message, at least one got through.

In putting my account back after the help from ATT, now my outgoing is not
accepting my password, although I have verified I'm using the proper one.

It appears since I can send mail through many sources outside SeaMonkey, has
something changed there?

Likewise, EXCEPT that I was able to send a text-only HTML email to myself. Including
images of any sort triggers the error.

As Philipp (note two p's) suggested above, install SM 2.0.x (along side
SM 1.1.14) and let it do the profile conversion, then install SM 2.7.2
over the top of SM 2.0.x.

Got it.

It's not new. It is the same window you get when you use Ctrl-D but it is
just under the right end of the address bar. I usually bookmark by right
clicking somewhere on the page I want to bookmark and choosing bookmark

 pencil
at the end of the address bar.

I have no pencil :-). I guess something in my prefs disabled it.

That will open it also right under the
pencil. The icon you speak of that bookmarks the current page into
 Unsorted
 Bookmarks, is that the pencil?

No, it's the bookmark-shaped icon (tiny oblique green ribbon in the
Default theme) that bookmarks into Unsorted.

Ok. I reinstated the default theme. That button/icon does look like a long
tiny bookmark now. On some tabs it is light green in color and on others it
is light gray. I didn't know what the difference in color meant but I
learned that when gray that tab has not been bookmarked and, if you click on
the gray button/icon, then it turns light green to indicate that the tab
(page on that tab) is now bookmarked. You are right, it goes into unsorted
if you bookmark this way (which I have never done until now). But if you
immediately click on the now green icon you will get Edit Bookmark window
right under the icon. It is a very cramped window which has been fixed
according to bugzilla and will be resizable in SM 2.8.

On the Edit Bookmark window expand Folder and then click on choose. Then
add the bookmark to the folder you want or a create a new folder and add it.
Sorry, I didn't know how this worked. I always bookmark by right clicking on
the page I want to bookmark and choosing from the context menu which brings
up the small, cramped bookmark window and actually does point to that
slender icon but I never paid any real attention to the fact it pointed to
that until now.

The reason the bookmark window was way over at the right edge of the screen
was because I used to have the search bar hidden. That made the address bar
very long and that thin bookmark icon is at the end of the address bar.

Why does SM Mail print all that junk? Besides all the irrelevant
headers, it also printed ALMOST THE ENTIRE MESSAGE OF THREE PAGES in
 BOLD wasting even more ink!

I just needed a record of my reservation. I didn't need all the other
junk printed nor did I need any of it in bold text. OE would never
waste ink like this or print almost an entire page of irrelevant
 headers.

I removed this email address from OE long ago (and meant to
completely kill it), but I never did and sometimes I get relevant
mail in it. SM still has it so that is why I didn't print from OE.
This is probably the first email I have ever printed from SM as I
 rarely need to print emails.

Many commercial sites have their own printer-friendly versions of things
like reservation and order confirmation pages. But failing that, I always
do a print preview first to check scaling and such, and if there are pages
I don't want, I just tell SM to print the pages I do want.

This is a hotel reservation. I could not access the reservations page on SM,
Fx, IE, or Opera. I have stayed at the hotel in the past many times and
only Opera works properly, but even it was not accessing the reservations
page. So, I had to call the 800 number for all their hotels and make the
reservation that way (which was completely incorrect according to the email
and I had to call them today to remake it). So, there was no web page to
print out. But I don't recall anything in the past when I have reserved via
the web (airlines, yes, there is web page to print out). I always get an
email and three or four more before the date of my stay.

Yes, I should have print previewed. But I still don't fully trust print
preview in any browser. I remember so many times in past years where I could
not get of print preview without crashing whatever browser I was using).

 Reservations?
That is probably not a function of SM.
Reservation companies like to include pages of junk.
Your reservation emailing company MAY allow
you to receive them as text and not html.
Or, set your emails for text only then edit and print.
 Or, print a screen shot.

ALL mail is read as plain text and all mail that I send is sent in plain
text only. That is simple security rules I have followed since I got my
first computer in 1999. The company sent the email in plain text.

A screenshot would use more ink than printing the email. It would print as a
photo and invoke Microsoft photo printing help in order to print it.

I see 23 headers! It takes more than one half page when printed. All I
needed was subject, from, date and to.

Did you go to View - Headers then click on Normal ???
If you still have the All option ... it's normal that you have so many

Copy The Email and Then paste it into WORD .

That's a good idea. But my point is that I don't need to do that if I use
OE. One of the reasons I started using SM again is because it has an email
client and I will be getting a new computer soon with Win 7. The only way to
continue using OE then will be via XP inside Win 7 Professional. So, I have
been looking for a new email client. I would use Windows Mail reluctantly
because it doesn't have Identities which is the best thing about OE but
Windows Mail is not in Win 7 and I will NOT use any cloud junk. I've used
Mozilla mail before it was SM but always had OE as my default mail client.
As for copying to Word, I won't have Word on Win 7.
