Any other email client will download the same new, unread messages from
the Comcast(?) server. It's the way things work.

Have you marked them as read and deleted them from Thunderbird and the
mail server before you setup SeaMonkey?

I specifically said not to include any prior settings.

Settings don't include emails. Those are downloaded from the server.

How is the account setup? IMAP or POP?

IMAP, unlike POP, specifically allows multiple clients simultaneously
connected to the same mailbox, and through flags stored on the server,
different clients accessing the same mailbox at the same or different
times can detect state changes made by other clients.

[Internet Message Access Protocol - Wikipedia, the free
encyclopedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Message_Access_Protocol)

POP supports simple download-and-delete requirements for access to
remote mailboxes. Although most POP clients have an option to leave mail
on server after download, e-mail clients using POP generally connect,
retrieve all messages, store them on the user's PC as new messages,
delete them from the server, and then disconnect.

[Post Office Protocol - Wikipedia, the free
encyclopedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post_Office_Protocol)

My POP account is configured to leave the mail on the server, where it
stays as Unread, unless I use Web Mail to access the account and mark
the messages read.

Once they download to this email client, I can use another to receive
the same messages.

What is the most reliable version available now? I've read of so many

Anyone have a feeling which version has the least problems now? I'm
being pushed to do this, because when I was forced to use Firefox the

I have no idea what the current version of Seamonkey is, 2.33 broke

now using code from the current versions of Firefox, rather than
their mission to use a fork of Firefox 2 or 3, without all the horrid

I installed Seamonkey manually, very easy, receive updates direct from

I suffer too many problems now, including the window top bar
disappearing since 2.33.1 was installed, but only on a Seamonkey window!
All other open windows/programs keep the top bar. (I use Ubuntu 12.04
LTS - kept updated without Unity - another problem desktop; I switched

much unexpected madness. That stabilized it! I should just install

Your Safe Kids May 2015 Newsletter Safe Kids Worldwide 5/14/2015
3:25pm

I now have 157 of them. No other emails. I hope the emails I am
trying to send are
actually sending, but I am not receiving anything but what is listed
above. Tried a

couple of test messages this am. Did not receive.

Help!

Marie DeWees

Your problem is not in SeaMonkey, nor in Thunderbird.
Those mail programs can only download what is onto your mailbox.
This mailbox is receiving a lot of messages from Safe Kids.
Did you try unsubscribing from http://www.safekids.org/newsletters as
WaltS48 suggested ?
Or send them a mail with your complain at : Tech Email:
wbecque...@safekids.org

If this not work phonecall them (USA) Tech Phone: +1.2026620620
Another possibility is that you email-adress is in the the list of a
crazy spammer.

I've been using various POP accounts for 20 years with mostly good
results. Occasionally an ISP's spam blocker goes overboard and has to be
reined in, but all POP is not bad.

Ditto. I use Gmail's POP and had similar issue so I disabled Gmail's
spam filter since I do not use webmail. I rather filter at the client end.

I'm using the most current. Only issue I have is the binary attachments
from newsgroups not working properly. That's an old, long-standing
issue and not really critical (just REALLY annoying).

But the older and older this codebase gets, the more security holes I am
exposed to. I think if Firefox goes one more revision with nothing from
Seamonkey I may be forced to abandon Seamonkey and go with
Firefox/Thunderbird. I've heard it that Thunderbird does not have the
issue with binary newsgroup attachments either.

We probably all use different versions.
Don't trust header info.
My SM is 2.26.1, Win XP. It works great. The last of the good SM's.
I am not worried about mal stuff or being hacked.
That has not happened to me since 1991.

Re: NoSquint For SeaMonkey

2015-06-25 Thread MM
Many ISP's use spam filtering software from companies like
CloudMark. The CloudMark dictionary

is proprietary and they will not discuss it.

I had some big issues with Verizon since they use Cloudmark. The
Cloudmark dictionary was
blocking as spam certain domains with certain words in their
name. When this is done, neither the
sender nor the intended recipient is aware that a message was
vaporized. No bounce nor

notification -- the message just goes to the bit bucket.

Verizon also has nothing to say about it. This is tantamount to
censoring. No matter how bad

spam is there should not be such unregulated and undocumented suppression.

I'm still on 2.26.1, but that's for very specific reasons that very
likely wouldn't apply to you.

As far as upgrading goes, I've discovered you can do it with wild
abandon. Just uninstall the old, run the new installer. It really is as
simple as that. My data has always remained intact.

Why do all of that?

Doesn't Help Check for Updates, or Automatically check for updates work?

That is why I don't upgrade. I install the new without effecting the
previous. Sometimes the new has problems, or maybe you just don't like
it. You can have as many versions as you have space on the HDD. I have
had as many as twenty two. And they can all use the same profile or
different profiles. When I decide I don't need/want one of them I
delete it.

But, to answer your question, I am using 2.33, on W7U-64, and have no
issues.
